But seriously, I was quite disappointed by it too. I really enjoyed 3. NV was kind of fun too. 4 just felt like it was trying too hard in the wrong places. They put a lot of the effort that should have gone into storyline development and put it into the town building minigame. They tried to catch the wave of Ark and all those other base builders and lost the story in the sandbox. Two half games don’t make a whole game.
If it was from 10-20 years ago, top down from an angle with modeled 3d units, it might be one of the Wargame titles from Eugen, or if it was WW2 setting maybe Combat Mission: beyond overlord, Company of Heroes, or Men of War.
If it was straight on top down 2D, it might have been Mud and Blood, which was a WW2 wave defense flash game.
Was it top down in the sense of looking straight down or from above at an angle? Were the units modeled as individual 3d models or just 2D icons?
Also, roughly what time period was it set in? Like, Napoleonic, WW2, Cold War, Contemporary?
Was it single player or multi player focused?
Could you get additional units as the game went on or were you locked with the units you started with? How could you get additional units? Points? Timer?
Can you provide more details? What you’ve described so far sums up most RTS games. Was it real time? Turn based? Were the units modern day? Historical? Sci-fi?
Sadly, I am too caught up in the idea of it being a Pinnochio souls-like to ever take that game seriously. All power to the people that like it, however
I get that - it was the same thing for me. It’s barely noticeable, though, unless you’re very familiar with the novel and the Disney adaptation. It’s a very tasteful homage to the novel by Carlo Collodi, but you don’t need to have read the novel to appreciate the game for what it is. It’s essentially Bloodborne 2 for what it’s worth. Truly amazing game.
Might just be a tad biased :D But if you keep an open mind about it and that’s all that’s keeping you from giving it a try, I promise you - you won’t regret trying it. There should still be a demo for the game if you’re up for it. :)
spoilerIt is much more than just Pinocchio’s story. Dorothy makes an appearance and there are hints of Red Riding Hood, Sleeping Beauty, Beauty & the Beast and a few others are alluded to throughout the game if you pay close attention.
The story also takes after the older rendition of the tale that is much more mature in its representation of themes. Think of it like a “Brothers Grimm” version instead of the watered down Disney edition.
They’re notorious for publishing half assed games with great potential, but tend to be fairly open to the modding community patching things up and enhancing the experience.
If you ever would consider replaying it,
look into TheMidnightRide,
which is a great quality of life modpack for Fallout 4: themidnightride.moddinglinked.com
I would definitely get into it again if I ended up owning it on another store. Xbox App version PC straight up won’t let me download some of the mods in-game and has write protection all over the actual files so I didn’t bother
PC Game Pass so I don’t technically own it 🤣 but yeah even if I owned it on the Xbox App it would behave the same as I described which is why I would never buy my games other if I could pick any other store
Not so fast, I kind of side-lined Clair Obscure for this game and I need to get back to that. Plus my friend has been telling me to play Dredge. Good thing summer vacations are on, I’ll definitely add The Outer Worlds on my playlist, thanks
Oooh I picked up Dredge in some Steam sale of yore, need to check it out.
The Outer Worlds is fucking phenomenal, dude. It’s pretty much exactly what I was hoping for when I heard the New Vegas studio was making a space game.
