TheAlbatross,

Factorio!! This work week has been hell and I have a week PTO starting Monday. So time to put in some effort in an asynchronous multi-player game with a friend.

No Man’s Sky is doing a Halloween event, too, so I might play around in that to get some unique cosmetics. And the Expeditions usually have a tailored experience that’s always fun.

I’ve been playing Papers Please in the 30 min or so I have for gaming in the evenings lately. I might play more of that to see if I can get all the endings.

Unless the weather is nice. Then I’m going fishing.

TheAlbatross,

MicroProse has really been filling a niche I’ve missed with these “old style” games. I mean, maybe an odd post to comment this specifically on, because this is and old game, but their recent releases in general seem to harken back to an older era of gaming that I’ve missed.

Hey, maybe we’ll get lucky and they’ll get to try their hands at another MechWarrior!

TheAlbatross,

Ah Paradox is finding their model of releasing unfinished games and getting around to solving it later less appealing!

That is a little disappointing, actually, as Paradox made some damn good games this way. Crusader Kings 2, Hearts of Iron 4 and Stellaris were all made like that.

I think Sims is a dead franchise now angielski

After being incredibly disappointed by the release of Sims 4, I was someone holding out hope for Sims 5 that they would have realized, “Hey, people really didn’t want us to do anything multiplayer in Sims 4. Maybe that means we should go back and make an actual good Sims game?” But instead, we get this awful news that Sims...

TheAlbatross,

Life by You’s cancelation was a big disappointment to hear. I figured if any studio had an understanding of emergent intercharacter storytelling in the way a Sims game needed, it was Paradox.

That said, Para-Lives is still in the works and looks quite promising.

There’s still hope. Just not from EA.

TheAlbatross,

I think you should try it. I think an hour is appropriate for a lot of the story beats if you have a decent memory, though maybe an hour and a half would be better suited to some of the more involved parts. A lot of this is affected by your reading speed. There’s a lot of reading.

For what it’s worth, I also played it in bursts, but probably something like 2 hr sessions. There’s a lot of rough, serious material in that game and I found it a lot to process at once, so I took breaks between sessions fairly often.

TheAlbatross,

After what they did to KSP2, I ain’t paying for another Take-Two game.

TheAlbatross,

Crucially, I said paying for, but also, naw prolly not.

  • TheAlbatross,

It really is one of the best games of the year for sure

    TheAlbatross,

    Hearts of Iron
    Europa Universalis
    Sid Meyer’s Civilization
Armored Core (with a bonus freebie title)

    TheAlbatross,

So does Armored Core, Yakuza, Final Fantasy, Fallout and a few other of the series posted here but I’m here to make jokes not accurate observations about various niche gaming communities

    TheAlbatross,

$40 for a DLC is fairly ridiculous, $35 isn’t much better.

That’s more than half the price of the base game! Is the DLC going to have more than half a base game’s worth of content?

    TheAlbatross,

Sure, but they don’t have more than half the base game’s worth of content and time in em.

An especially daunting task with Elden Ring, which is huge.

I worry that this kind of price point will become acceptable if this does well and I simply don’t think that is okay. $40 is far too much for DLC.

    TheAlbatross,

    What’s this in response to?

    TheAlbatross,

Wouldn’t that be a good thing? More access to different titles? Usually the ‘see you and hear you’ line is used when a company gets caught doing vile shit and wants to pretend they care

    TheAlbatross,

Yo of all the games to be hungry for, Starfield ain’t one lmao

    TheAlbatross,

Oh like not making an Xbox console anymore?

    TheAlbatross,

Hell yeah, king, let’s get weird with it

2024 goals just be weird about it

    TheAlbatross,

Got back into Kerbal Space Progam.

Funny I get bit by the KSP bug once again just before the Science update drops for KSP2, but c’est la guerre, I love playing with a buncha mods and trying to do complicated remote controlled missions while trying to factor in communications issues and times when the craft isn’t in the sun.

    TheAlbatross,

I’ve just started with the OPM mod and it’s been a delight exploring the new planets and their many many moons! RSS/RO seems like a fun challenge one day, but I do like the simplicity of the 1/10th scale Kerbal world.

What’s the Ciro system? Are there mods for entirely new solar systems too?

    TheAlbatross,

Please be good… Tribes deserves love.

  • TheAlbatross,

Maybe they’d give you a phone number and extension to call if you ask. People are far more reasonable and understanding over the phone.

It’s a shitty situation, though, I hope you can get it resolved!

    TheAlbatross,

Does this mean I don’t have to use a workaround to launch Xbox GamePass games via Moonlight on my Steam Link?

    TheAlbatross,

Right now I’m running Moonlight on my Steam Link and launching Notepad on Moonlight and that works well.

It works well. I had an issue running the Steam Link app on my TV, but maybe Moonlight could work better there?

    TheAlbatross,

I’ll take a look, thanks! I found some package someone came up with to install Moonlink on the Steam Link, it’s been very useful for playing GamePass games and emulated games. I’ve read it works better for Steam games too but I haven’t tried that yet.

    TheAlbatross,

Dyson Sphere Program is a phenomenal factory game, debatably on par with unmodded Factorio.

It’s an absolute delight to get the Sphere going and figure out the best ways to utilize it.

    TheAlbatross,

After playing Starfield, I, uh, wouldn’t be chomping at the bit to hire their lead quest designer.

    TheAlbatross, (edited )

The game is fine. It’s on Gamepass so I’d play it through that, I wouldn’t pay the full retail for it.

Mostly I was referencing that the quests are fairly flat and uninspiring.

For what it’s worth, game quality-wise, I finished one playthrough in about 80 hrs and while there’s a NG+ mechanic that many seem to be enjoying, I wasn’t too interested in that. I really liked the ship building mechanic, and I had a lotta fun leveling up to see all the new ship parts and play with em.

Maybe after the modding scene develops more (though it looks like it’ll get there) I’ll come back to it if it’s still on Gamepass
