I thought this was a joke but it seems like it’s actually legit. WoW, which has a subscription and paid expansions, just added a $90 item to their store. This is Korean MMO levels of absurdity. What do you think of this?...
it’s selling well too though it’s actually 78$. They put Mailbox and Auction House on it which AFAIK the only mount that has both which is incredibly valuable.
If not the fuction I wouldn’t mind but because the function is so valuable it’s really poor form by Blizzard. I even love the mount and buy it as cosmetic but I’m not supporting this at the state it is currently.
Alabaster Dawn is an Action RPG that builds on the best aspects of Radical Fish Games’ previous title, CrossCode. It features a deep combat system, challenging puzzles, and a mysterious world teeming with secrets, all bundled up in an engaging story. True though that’s a bit of a potato/potatoh probpem as the easiest way to patch-in offline would be to run server locally rather than have 2 different architectures of offline and online plays. That’s already how many games work today actually - singleplayer is just a server with only you on it.
The only reason I clicked on the article is because I thought next gen launching late 2025 with GTA6. Ps5 came out over 3 years ago so 4 year generation sounds about right.
It’s not the first time either. Time to pop Kotaku into the block list.
Nah there’s not rules for “gens” it’s all bullshit that could be anywhere between 3 to 7 years looking at wiki release tables. Now especially new generation is super easy to release as consoles are just PCs.
Honestly, they should sue Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo. The fact that we allow such restricted computers that can land you in prison for manipulating them is just absurd.
More realisticly Epic is just choosing their battles where they can see that they can make progress but they can’t say that.
They originally had a battle pass and cash shop, but after backlash they’re moving away from that model and will have all cosmetics earned by playing the game. Exciting news!
Over the years, there’ve been various red flags in gaming, for me at least. Multi-media. Full-Motion Video. Day-One DLC. Microtransactions. The latest one is Live Service Game. I find the idea repulsive because it immediately tells me this is an online-required affair, even if it doesn’t warrant it. There’s no reason for...
I have nothing against mmo/live/gaas games but the quality is never there to justify it. If anything gaas have less content than a singleplayer offline game. It’s a total bait and switch.
Diablo 4 technically flawless? The game barely works to this day. Just check the patch notes of how many abilities weren’t working. It’s still awesome but lol
Honestly I really like Play Pass on android. Mostly because it’s only 3usd here thanks to regional pricing and there’s a lot of great value! My issue is that Google generally sucks at keeping things going so I’d never invest anything beyond that with them.
My Steam account from 2006 is still going, all of the games work, it’s mostly the same platform but better. I don’t think Google can match that.
My guess it’s just an internal name to boost morale, inside joke sort of thing. Many software projects do that. Would be funny if that was the name though
I’m with Tim Sweeney here - why restrict creativity with arbitrary restrictions like that? We already have some amazing 1-person games, how many more we’d have with this immense productivity boost? I’m excited for more games even if that means more trash out there, I have the brain power to sift through it if it means another Stardew Valley.
I’m surprised people here on open source, free software project are defending copyright so fiercly. AI is learning not copying and even if you disagree - fuck copyright and fuck protectionism. There’s so much shit to do in this world and we’re back to “looms will end the world” nonsense. The propaganda machine is rolling hard on this one.
Why is everyone have to be paid for everything? The real dillema is wether AI is learning or is it remixing and the science is on the side of learning while all grifters on the side of remixing. All of these lawsuits like the gettyimages one are for profit. They are grifting off this and people so blindly fall for this propaganda thinking they are protecting “the little guy” when big majority of world’s copyright is owned by mega corporations. Fuck that.
I’m a software engineer and AI can already do a lot of my programming and it’s great! Most of my software is FOSS - so your bet is very wrong.
If somehow AI kills programming and puts me out of job then that’s great! I’ll find another job and we’ll be living in objectively better world because code is suddenly infinitely more accessible and powerful :)
So, to me this protectionism thought process is very alien. Especially when it comes to something relatively meaningless as entertainment.
You seem to be awfully ignorant of the history and I suggest you get back to it. Copyleft and free software is fundamentally anti copyright. Copyleft and GPL is legal play against copyright because guess what - we don’t have the power to change the entire legal framework. I’ve been foss dev for over 20 years now so might as well fuck off lol

I have no access to Starfield (I only have ps5 and steamdeck) so I’m back to No Man’s Sky once again!
This game just gets better for free and I can honestly play it every weekend. It’s a masterpiece in my opinion and while I’m sad I don’t have access to Starfield I’m in no rush for another space adventure just yet.
I’ve heard it’s 30fps with dips in bigger areas but tbh I want to enjoy it on a big screen as the environments look absolutely beautiful. I might get a PC at some point or an xbox so I’d rather wait.
