They may not be immune, but they are surprisingly resistant to them.

You have to shoot some of those guys A LOT. Some of them will be some semi-naked bald guy and still take multiple rockets to the face.

Maybe one grenade, though. Or two. I can take three, maybe. Look, I'm saying there is a right number of grenades in my tank and it's not very high, but it's definitely not zero.

callouscomic,

It was a surprise to be sure. It seems like Gamefreak always makes at least one starter per a generation become bi-pedal

I’m working my way up the generations and I need to replay Alola in the Ultra games since I only had Pokemon Sun before and had different livingdex rules when I played it. A bit unfortunate for time-sake, but I really liked the Alola games. Good luck on your dex!

To add some naming inspiration, my friend and I like dumb nicknames like:

Blingo Splorp Gunch Slizbop Boizo

I might steal this trend for Ultra Moon. I usually have a theme with my teams, but this team’s theme seems to be that there is no theme

Your post reminded me of my childhood, of how I had a PSP with a CFW and a GBA emulator, that made me look for hack roms, and I learned that there’s a digimon Pokémon hack ROM lol.

MyNameIsAtticus,
@MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world avatar

Installing CFW on a console is such a fun nostalgic childhood memory i’ve noticed a lot of people who do it share, regardless of console. I’m also totally saving that Digimon ROM hack for later. I grew up without pokemon and only Digimon so for a long while i was only a Digimon fan

@Pandantic@midwest.social avatar

Have you ever won?

frosty99c,

It’s very possible to defeat the dragon. I can do it pretty regularly after a day of heavy playing. Getting the achievements is tougher. And I still haven’t gotten a clean wipe yet (I’ve been 1 tile away twice though)

Pandantic,
@Pandantic@midwest.social avatar

I was one heart away from getting 13 hearts, but at that point I was out of options. 😫

frosty99c,

Finally got my first full clear this morning, and I’ve gotten 2 more since then. I’ve now gotten all of the achievements and I just completed a 2 stamp game!

Pandantic,
@Pandantic@midwest.social avatar

Yeah, I’ve gotten a 2 wins, the first was almost a full clear! I’m starting to get the hang of it.

jsomae,

I did it on my eigth or ninth try. I lost several times due to stupid mistakes, clicking on a mine when I forgot that there was a 1xx clue next to it, seeing only that xx was small.

Pandantic,
@Pandantic@midwest.social avatar

I guess I just haven’t gotten the hang of it yet.

jsomae,

Have you paid attention to the patterns visible when the game ends? The purple slimes + wizard are really helpful to locate. I also generally tried to avoid using the walls since it seems like they don’t always give as many points as they take to kill. I also played on an earlier version, it might have been easier.

Asafum, do gaming w I am so tired of ranked

It’s not even a ranked thing, but it’s why I’m sticking to my friend group or solo for monster hunter wilds.

AdamBomb,

Sweaty players suck in any game, but I find them less common in MH. You can just abandon the hunt too when something stupid happens like that.

ocassionallyaduck,

At least in MH, the monsters health scales to the number of current players. If people drop the monster weakens proportionally. Aka, Baseline 1000 HP, x.2 multiplier per additional player, 1600HP for 4 players, 1000HP for 1 player.

If you have 4 players, and two drop, the HP total of the monster will drop from 1600 to 1200, and the remaining HP will adjust to the same percentage.

For for MH at least don’t stress it.

You’re mostly here to self promote from what I can tell. It shows in your post history and the fact that you though it’d be more important to link to Steam and not the article itself.

MarcomachtKuchen,

That’s fine for me. The dev does not spam but gives me some insight in his development and his struggle to get people to play his stuff.

It becomes a problem once others see this is permissible. It’s not that much now but once everyone realises they can put ads here for free how do you imagine it goes from there?

dwindling7373,

And that’s fine!

Road_Warrior_10,

Well, I post every few months when I have something new and interesting to show. This community in general has been very friendly and like being part of it.

Voroxpete,

And so they bloody well should be! How the fuck else are we going to find out about cool, unique indie projects instead of mass produced corporate slop?

Independent creators should absolutely be encouraged to self promote in communities like this, or else what the fuck are we doing here? Just shilling for Activision?

misk,
@misk@sopuli.xyz avatar

I want to learn about it either through an independent journalist or from a space dedicated to self promotion. Small developers are not saints and ads are poison, haven’t we all learnt?

echodot,

Yeah I don’t want to find out about games in this game community.

raspberriesareyummy, do games w After Years of Struggling To Be Noticed, My Indie Game Was Covered By VICE

Windows only - no interest.

Kecessa,

Linux users: Gaming on Linux is great, with Proton we don’t even care if a game isn’t developed for Linux specifically!

Also Linux users: You’re not developing a Linux version, I don’t give a crap about your game.

raspberriesareyummy,

My point is Windows is an ecosystem enabling totalitarian regimes and exposes all user privacy to corporations. Developing anything for Windows-only strengthens that ecosystem and is thereby anti-humanity, antidemocratic and just overall an awful decision.

Deconceptualist,

I don’t disagree with you. But don’t you think there’s a component of it that’s like, “Hey I want to both 1) release a game and 2) put food on table”? Since 99% of players are on Windows, actually doing both kind of necessitates building for Windows first.

As Linux gamers I think we should keep going in the direction we’ve been and making it easier and easier for devs to port to Linux or run their games through Proton and so forth. It’s been amazing and my time as a player has been so good in the last couple years. If we keep showing that, more players will come over and the userbase will grow. I’ve heard from plenty of others who have ditched Windows, because gaming was their last holdout.

The big AAA publishers aren’t struggling for basic needs. We can make demands of them. But the small inside devs? Help 'em out where you can.

raspberriesareyummy,

It used to be a legitimate choice to publish for Windows. Even when Microsoft started trying to force every private file into the cloud, I wouldn’t have chosen such drastic words. But with the fall of the divided states of america to an authoritarian regime of rapist / pedo billionaires, if you still develop for Windows, where do you draw the line? Gas chambers? And my objection to Windows is not because of Microsoft. It’s because of being the government system, that the totalitarian government has its hands on all kinds of backdoors and will use them to sabotage democracies whereever they can.

icecreamtaco,
@icecreamtaco@lemmy.world avatar

(fuck nazis, but) bro you are 10000% too deep into this. It’s just an operating system. You might as well boycott paper because they use a lot of that in the white house too

echodot,

Also I need to use Windows anyway for work so it’s going to be dual booted anyway and if it’s going to be dual booted anyway then the entire “supporting them” argument is irrelevant.

Also right-wing fascists developed Lemmy, so a little bit of worldview consistency would be nice

AngryishHumanoid,

I’ve not often seen such a perfectly on the nose example of a slippery slope argument, so I guess thank you for that.

AngryishHumanoid,
chunkystyles,

Because of Proton and also how shit can just break on Linux (see the current glibc fiasco), it might be better to have just a Windows version.

I when I play a game, I don’t even notice if it’s Linux native unless the game specifically tells me it’s a Linux build.

Barbarian,
@Barbarian@sh.itjust.works avatar

Wow, it’s almost like there might be people with different opinions that use Linux and Linux users aren’t a single hivemind.

Congratulations, you’ve earned it.

As always, @Road_Warrior_10 got the mods express authorization to promote his game as soon as his post are not meme and he does not excessively promote his game (aka spam it). One or two post a month are fine, as long as they are not direct link to his game with the text being copy-pasted from the Steam page.

Anyone wanting to do the same can DM the mods.

Road_Warrior_10,

Reddit mods should learn a thing or two from you : )

“Posting about a game on game related sub? HOW DARE YOU?”

Speculater,
@Speculater@lemmy.world avatar

The blatant ads there were getting insane though. I love how you are sharing your well earned recognition, but many times on Reddit it was, “My daughter died of cancer three years ago and I quit my job and used coding as therapy, three years later, I have my parting gift inspired by her love of turtles ready to share with the world!”

Insert half-baked $5 game made in a few weeks

It was so obvious they were creating fictions to push shovelware.

Duamerthrax,

I once saw a post about Oni, a 2001 Bungie game get deleted from the Bungie subreddit for not being Bungie related.

electric,

It’s cool you guys allow it. I find banning self-promotion is such a stupid rule for a games community. It’s cool seeing people make games, too!

Dremor, (edited )
@Dremor@jlai.lu avatar

Rule 3 is about “excessive” self-promotion. Self-promotion is allowed, spamming is not.

I understand it isn’t verry clear (I’m working on that), but as a mod, I usually do not remove if the following conditions are met :

  • OP do not spam his game, once every 2 weeks is fine, once every two day is not.
  • OP post objective is to spark a constructive discussion around said game. Good post forms are :
    • A video trailer that accurently depict gameplay (to filter those low-effort games whose trailers are 100% cinematics)
    • A text post that talk about the game without being just a steam description.
  • OP ask for mods permission to advertise his game. @Road_Warrior_10 (sorry for the ping 😋) didn’t at first, got removed, but was nice enough to ask the mod about it, thank to what we found this arrangement.
  • OP engages in the conversations. Those 1 day account that post their games, never to be seen again, will be removed without mercy.

All those implicit rules helps to keep this community free of advertisements for low-effort cash-grab games, and preserve everyone enjoyment of this community.

Voroxpete,

I definitely want to see this version of self promotion encouraged. I think it’s good and healthy for this community to be a place where creators can discuss cool projects, engage with their fans and solicit feedback, as long as they’re doing so in a way that respects the health of the community. I think the accommodations you’ve chosen to make / demand here are very reasonable.

echodot,

Yeah I mean it’s why I’m here. I’m much more interested in finding out about indie games then AAA games, if only because I probably already know about the AAA games. Especially because they’re apparently AAAA these days, and presumably some of that budget includes advertising.
