In the 3DS version, all the bosses have a phase where they grow a big eyeball on them somewhere. And hitting that is the finisher move. Those eyes don’t exist in the N64 version.
I think they must have done that change as a tie-in to Breath of the Wild. Which, don’t get me wrong, is a great game. But they’re messing with my childhood here!
Yeah. All of them, unfortunately. (Actually, I’m not sure if they messed with Majora’s final form or whatever. But definitely all of the other four bosses.)
What is she wearing? Is she severely diseased and leaking pus from the entirety of her torso? Are they glued golden leaves? Are they yellow leaches from her tiny swamp?
But the physics in both version were identical. That model does not have breast bones in the original or in the remake. Neither does the model use vertex animation, the improvement is only that the breasts would be less pointy, but I am pretty sure they’re also covered in more leaves than the original.
You might want to check out Shadow Tactics, Desperados 3 and/or Shadow Gambit by Mimimi. Absolutely excellent adaptaions of the stealth tactic gameplay of commandos. Work great with controllers too.
Mashing the upvote for Shadow Tactics and Shadow Tactics:Aiko’s Choice. And agreed, their controller scheme is so spot on. Aiko’s Choice adds some deeply bittersweet context to the first game.
Some of them I take Day of the post (Like the Fallout one yesterday). Others I keep just because I think they look pretty. Steam Cloud storage holds onto them for me so I don’t have much of a reason to get rid of them. I also just really like taking very Landscape-esque shots which i feel leads me to be less likely to delete them
Do you not have a whole archive of screenshot because it looked cool at the time and then it didn’t really hit the same later when you no longer had the context of the action? Just me?
That’s why I take videos. I have hard drives of my very average gameplay but I still feel the satisfaction I got when I was actually playing when watching them.
I will say that I am incredibly biased for this game. To the point that My friends when we play Sea of Thieves always have to listen to me (jokingly) complain about how Sea of Thieves should control the ship more like Black Flag. But I still find that its naval controls is by far one of my favorite methods of doing it. It’s done in a way where it’s not too clunky and you need to micromanage, but it doesn’t take away from the action and makes you really feel epic. At least that’s how I personally about it
I’d like to answer as someone without nostalgia: yes it does. I played Odyssey in 2020 and IV 2022-current. The ship mechanics are very enjoyable to me. I beleive Odyseey made it more polished but I can’t actually remember how, so it must not be that important
I still need to play odyssey. I’m ashamed to admit when it first launched I was young and stuck in a mindset that “older AC games better. RPG AC games bad”.
But I played Origins and then Valhalla while waiting on Mirage (Which I also need to play). I personally enjoyed the older games more, but I still thoroughly enjoyed the RPG titles and want to give odyssey a shot soon. Probably once it goes on sale on Steam
I used to be part of such wagons. As I got older, I lost the time available to be so picky. I started with Unity and had a good time. I’ve had a good time with each subsequent entry through odyssey (haven’t played further yet). The same type of people complaining about RPG AC complain about Ubi’s other series, Far Cry. It’s ironic that people vehemently argue whether FC3 or 4 is better while both were departures from 2 which was a drastic departure from 1.
It’s a game. If you have fun, you’re good. If it’s compelling enough to keep you playing, they’re good. I really enjoyed Odyssey, moresoe than Origins. I do wonder if Origins was a sacrificial game that conditioned me to the RPG style, but I don’t have time to revisit it. I know I really enjoyed the sailing warfare mission as Aya so I was certainly happy to find that in Ody. (I’m actually currently 2/3 thru AC4). Still waiting on time for Valhalla and mirage…
PS: whichever version you played between 13 and 18 years old will always be the perfect one. Same goes for music. Or any interest, really.
Yeah. I’m in the same boat. When I got older I changed my perspective. If I don’t enjoy a game, that doesn’t mean it’s a bad game, that just makes it not for me. after I came to that conclusion I went back and tried a whole bunch of games I was unfair too before because I wrote them off. I found myself enjoying a lot more that I initially wrote off
Ps: I hope you enjoy AC4 btw, that and unity & Syndicate were some of my favorites when I first got into the franchise. Valhalla was a lot of fun too (once you get to it)
Reminds me of that one mf in asterix who just quit his Jon after being with them because he’d accomplished basically everything he ever dreamt of in one go
