Feddinat0r, do games w Death Stranding 2 preview: how a big dollop of Metal Gear is expanding Kojima's bizarre epic

Well, thanks for the reminder to pick up the first part when its for sale

Sibbo,

Honestly, I can’t get myself to play it through. It’s just so strange and has so many depressing elements.

darthelmet,

I couldn’t get through much of it either, but not because of the weird stuff, I like weird, the gameplay is just too… involved? Stressful? Exhausting? Like I’m ok with challenging games sometimes, but needing to spend a ton of time slowly trekking across fields and mountains while manually trying to keep your footing, managing a bunch of consumables, and occasionally needing to play walk through the ghost minefield with your baby detector while dealing with the rest of that is just not something I could keep up for as long as the game was going to go.

TachyonTele,

For me by the time the game actually starts I’m bored and want to play something else.
Then i can’t remember how to play so i start over, and the cycle repeats.

PieMePlenty,

It is, at its core, an exploration and infrastructure building game. A lot of the gameplay is “take X to Y” and the infrastructure you build helps you do it and determines how hard your task is gonna be. Combat is not plentiful, but it is there as an extra obstacle to overcome. If you dont find this core mechanic engaging enough, it probably isnt a game you would enjoy.

Yokozuna,
@Yokozuna@lemmy.world avatar

The story was so absolutely absurd in the first few hours. It lost me when they introduced Die Hard Man and a few other plot elements. There’s no way I could have ever finished it, and I love the convoluted mess of Metal Gear lore.

Zaleramancer, do gaming w GTA 6's delay doesn't mean the games industry's in trouble - it's already dead

Such a dramatic title.

Yermaw, do gaming w GTA 6's delay doesn't mean the games industry's in trouble - it's already dead

Watching short exceptionally addictive videos on social media

South park called it like 10 years ago, but I do wonder how many games aren’t selling now because people want to watch their favourite Internet star play it instead of playing it themselves.

I want to get on my high horse about kids these days, but if they’re basically all at it then it’s not them that’s the problem, it’s just that I don’t get it. Which I don’t.

Which episode called it?

Yermaw,

HappyHolograms S18 e10

bblkargonaut, do games w Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 hits 500k sales in one day

I’m 11hrs in so far, and I’m hooked. The world building, gameplay and characters are amazing. I also really loved the music, especially inside the manor.

Pondis,

The soundtrack is incredible! It’s such a wonderful game.

easily3667, do games w The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remaster is real - Eurogamer

But that’s the worst one

It’s in the awkward transition between good game Morrowind and mediocre game Skyrim, with the worst parts of both

Stovetop,

Well…more room for improvement, then?

Kolanaki,
@Kolanaki@pawb.social avatar

Having been playing it again recently, it still has a lot of what Morrowind had, and Skyrim doesn’t. Plays like Skyrim, but still has more depth than it. Not a lot more, but still more.

easily3667,

Maybe I should give another chance

echodot, do games w Silent Hill f has been banned in Australia, and no one knows why

If PEGI tried this kind of thing I’m pretty sure the general public would linch them. Fortunately with Steam there can be completely ignored these days anyway.

Noite_Etion, do games w Silent Hill f has been banned in Australia, and no one knows why
@Noite_Etion@lemmy.world avatar

Good luck banning torrents you crotchety old fuckers.

disgrunty,

Don’t forget to use a VPN so you don’t get traced by copyright lawyers! They often seed torrents in the name of gathering IPs to take action against.

Kelly, (edited )

That doesn’t really work in Australia.

AFAIK Dallas Buyers Club was the last major case and the conditions the courts placed on any contact caused the rights holders to decide it wasn’t worth the bother. www.bbc.com/news/business-35547045

The court told them they could buy the infringer’s contact details as a bulk lot that averaged $127 per person. But only if they invoiced for $127 + whatever they were charging for the film. In addition the court would need to review and approve any draft correspondence and call scripts.

All up it feels like the court was taking the most hostile interpretation of the law to protect individuals from being harassed by the business. Good stuff.

deegeese, do games w "There comes a time when we all declare the war is over": Former PlayStation Studios boss Shawn Layden on the future of video game consoles

Can someone make this make sense?

You know the Sony fanbase gets really upset whenever a game comes out on PC

mesamunefire,

Im just not seeing it honestly. Most people just dont care, they only have enough $$ for one major console. And then they go with that console for a while. Its only the diehards that care and that may be who is “complaining”.

DomeGuy,

There is a mythical “Sony fan” customer who pays extra for their video game consoles, and justified that by believing it comes with a right to be special and awesome and play games no one else is allowed to.

It’s a pantomine of a Nintendo fan, who pays for an underpowered console for first-party games that use unique controllers. None of whom would ever complain if their games were sold on PC so long as they could bring the controller over.

AFAIK, the only real people who want exclusives on PlayStation are Sony employees and shareholders.

dogslayeggs,

I know there WERE Sony fans who would get upset that their exclusives would come out on other platforms. Back in the very early 2000s, fanboys would get irate at the smallest perceived slight to their preferred platform. But that hasn’t been more than a very niche thing for a decade. Almost nobody cares now.

umami_wasbi, do games w Rainbow Six Siege X update detailed, as game goes free-to-play on June 10

Anyone knows what happen to operators and skins already owned?

simple,

You’ll keep everything, it’s not a new game but more of an update and moving the game to a new engine, like CS2

jroid8, do games w Moon Studios (Ori, No Rest for the Wicked) goes 'fully independent' in aftermath of Private Division closure

I think Ori IP belongs to Microsoft so this means no more ori games from moon studios

M137,
@M137@lemmy.world avatar

Not that any were planned, pretty sure they’re done with Ori.

OminousOrange, do games w Jackbox Games coming to Smart TVs for free
@OminousOrange@lemmy.ca avatar

I can’t imagine it will be free and actually useable in any form.

Free*

*except you can only play one game in 24 hrs. *you can only play with four people *there is only a small set of prompts available

maniclucky,

Actually, that part I’m not worried about. Jackbox is one of my friends go-to end of party games. It’s all through your phone and accommodates a good amount of people, slightly game dependent.

criitz,

Yeah, but thats for money.

moody,

It’s also entirely possible that you can’t host any of the games. If the host owns the game, anyone else can play for free through a browser. It could just be access to the jackbox.tv website from the TV itself.

nokturne213, do gaming w Pokémon games have become consistently ugly, and it's alright to wish they weren't

The only one I have found ugly has been Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, I feel like I am playing in a fisher price universe.

JackDark, do games w Netflix culls staff at Oxenfree developer Night School Studio

I didn’t realize that Netflix actually bought the studio. I just thought they licensed the game or something.

chuckleslord,

Well, ya see, gotta reduce the number of companies. The less companies, the more the line goes up

DoucheBagMcSwag, (edited ) do games w Nintendo discontinuing Gold Points on the Switch eShop, ahead of Switch 2 release

Nintendo doesn’t need a loyalty program to gain fan favor. They already have that… And that’s putting it nicely without any labels

Woodstock, do games w Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater release date leaks

“As updated on the PSN Store (and shared to ResetEra), the game will release on 28th August this year.”
