The other 5e based game, Solasta has custom campaigns. It is not as polished as BG3, but it is enjoyable

Godspeed. DS2 is the only Fromsoft game I just did not click with. I have started it several times, but it doesn’t hold my interest.

100% agree. I picked it up very late and very cheap. Worth the $10 or so I paid, but the batmobile sections almost made me drop the game.

I know you’re banned, but for when you come back, there are several reasons.

  1. It let’s people make a response to specific parts of what you said.

  3. For me personally, it helps organize ideas and see the comment response closer together

Finished the Fallout TV series, so got a hankering to explore those worlds. Decided to start at Fallout 3, level up, then visit all the vaults. We’ll see if how far I make it before losing interest. Also might dona co-play of 1 and 2 with my partner (I control but she makes the decisions). She never played them and it would be great to show her how they have changed.

Looks like I misremembered the quote, but he literally said, “There were no black people in medieval Bohemia. Period.” So not all of Europe, but at best, that is not something that can be said that definitively, and more likely is just plain wrong. There were people from Africa and the the middle east in Europe at the time and even church officials from Ethiopia.

In a game that is supposed to be about historical accuracy, it just kinda fails and even leans into nationalism over accuracy. That mixed with sexism (in game and real life from Vávra) and homophobia (which seems to be only in game) means a no go from me.

As to sexism there’s a dlc which allows control of a female protagonist, it doesn’t suffer the damsel in distress that some other stories do and was fairly enjoyable, bit of a bandade.

That’s good. Hopefully the studio is learning from their more vocal mistakes.

I’ll still miss this one. Vávra is outspoken about very terrible things and I can’t support that. He has been quiet for a while, but I bet now that the new game has been announced we’ll start seeing off the wall comments from him once again.

The other numbers and Hagel rune are very explicit white supremacist symbols, so trying to downplay them is suspect. As Chloyster pointed out, it seemed like the person saying that the 100% is racist was trying to mock people saying bringing up the other symbols. Even the ADL says you need to look at the context for the 100%. Bringing up the OK is also suspect, since, again, even the ADL says the context matters.

Also, nobody is saying they are hate crimes, but hate symbols which you should absolutely be aware of and not include in your game, even if by accident.

Yeah, ADL used to be my go to for looking up hate symbols, but then I learned about the zionism. That being said, AFAIK, the info in their hate symbol database is pretty accurate. Something about a stopped clock…

And it is not about sensitivity. It is a hateful word to use. You clearly knew there was an issue using it based on context, but you decided to do it anyhow. We could have got the same context by just saying, " you won’t name your dog a racial slur ike your grandpa did etc."

You can still do that and get a TV (for now), you just have to not connect it to the internet. Mine has never seen Ethernet cable nor my wifi password and gives me zero problems. I don’t even use the TV interface since I have an HDMI switcher that auto switches to the most recently powered device.

For sure. I am even OK when it is incredibly obvious (the Satisfactory one yesterday was funny) but there are so many piss takes that if a real one is announced you might not ever know. But this Silksong thing is just mean if false, and complete obliviousness if true. That game is so hotly anticipated that you should not mess around

I think I am one of the few who did not like the Radahn fight. Him and the fire giant just felt gimmicky to me. I have beat him before the difficulty was fixed, in NG+, and now since the difficulty was fixed. Felt the same in every case (other than how hard the first fight was).

Not OP, but I like both for different reasons. V doesn’t have the districts, which changes gameplay pretty significantly. I also prefer the art style of V. That being said, I like the districts and usually play VI, but go back to V almost as often

The reveal of “you’re the real monster here” has a good amount of impact but it’s hard to totally land that message when the game offers no alternative.

Yeah, the game lost me at that spot. I tried literally everything I could to avoid it, and a literal invisible wall stopped me. The thing is, the narrative has been done before. Classic Heart of Darkness/Apocalypse Now, but with a slight twist. It hasn’t been done in games AFAIK, but it takes a deft hand, and Spec Ops failed for me

I see people saying “oh but the violence! the slavery!” as if it wasn’t a collective act of childhood goodwill that prevented such associations being made to Pokémon.

I think the issue with the slavery (at least for me) is that there is human slavery that has exactly zero consequence. It doesn’t have much to do with the Pals themselves

From what I have read about, the only thing that happens when you capture a human is that it tells you it is inhumane and frowned upon. I have not seen anything mentioning actual consequences beyond that, but it may be that people have not encountered them. If that is the case, the consequences might as well not be there.

I bounced pretty hard of Hellblade. The combat frustrated me to no end. It felt like it was just tacked on to an otherwise puzzle focused game.

In games like CoD, I would bet iron sights are supposed to less good. That way they can push players to leveling up guns to get better attachments. If they happen to sell a gun in the Mtx store that has a really good sight/scope even better.

My partner and I recently did a playthrough with me at the controls and her making all the decisions, even play style. The third act of the base game fell pretty flat for both of us, and some of the forced decisions were very annoying.

spoilerKilling our horse (named Nobu) was just fucking brutal. It led us to really dislike the poor, temporary horse we got. “FUCK YOU, NOT NOBU” was a common epithet ___

We immediately played the DLC and thought it was great, and the collectables/shrines were different enough it felt fresh. The story wasn’t much to write home about, but the visuals were great. It was nice to have a new biome without it being one that doesn’t exist in Tsuahima (looking at you, snow).

Picked up Lies of P yesterday. I am enjoying it a lot, and a lot more than I thought I would. I saw some pre-release playthroughs that left me hesitant, but it is on GamePass, so I figured why not.

It is a great mix of FromSoft concepts, pulling a lot from Bloodbourne and a little from all of them. Highly recommend if anyone wants a soulslike but don’t want to play Elden Ring again.

I’d even say the genre never died, just became a little more niche. I think the ARPG kind of dominated there for a bit, but CRPGs still existed. The time between Baldur’s Gate 2 and Dragon Age: Origins was only 9 years. There were several games between those games that I quite enjoyed (Arcanum, Fallout Tactics, Icewind Dale, Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2, and more). I realize that wasn’t your argument at all, just wanted to add a little more weight to what you were getting across

The genre didn’t die off though. It may have become a niche, but died isn’t the right description. Not saying that means you should like it, just that it has been in the background for a very long time.

DA:O was touted as the spiritual successor to BG2 at the time, so totally was. And yeah, there was a little lull, but there were still games in there.

Stranded Deep is on Game Pass, so figured I’d give it a shot. Good so far. Kind of a mix of Raft and The Forest. It is a little rough to start since you pretty quickly need to travel to other islands to get materials and the starter raft is not fun to use. Once I built my own it really picked up though

I would suggest Vampyr or Wolfenstein: New Order as games set in the UK that would probably run great on an Ally with the bonus that they don’t support a TERF

I wouldn’t put much stock in hearsay. ConcernedApe has always been relatively quiet about what he is up to, even with Stardew.
