Oh god I remember the online 1 week later and how busted it was, it was great

JJROKCZ, (edited ) do games w Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin shows off how it "delivers a truly comprehensive RTS game at launch"

Why can’t we get this level of effort into a good 40k game?

Edit: this gives almost lotr:bfme2 vibes

c0mbatbag3l, do xbox w Cyberpunk 2077's major 2.0 update arrives next week
@c0mbatbag3l@lemmy.world avatar

I wonder how the new cyberware limits and cyberpsychosis system will affect my V if I update. I’m pretty much fully kitted out at max level and street cred and carrying almost all legendary gear where applicable.

Will I just spawn in and immediately get like… over encumbered with cyberware? Will I have to restart the game or respec V with less stuff?

I’m gonna be mad if I have to give up my Kerenzikov/camouflage/gorilla fists/hacking multi-class. There’s nothing quite like invisibly slo mo punching out an entire crippled with contagion gang while their leader crow bar’s them to death because I gave him psychosis.

AlexanderTheGreat,
@AlexanderTheGreat@lemmy.world avatar

That does sound like quite the party aha. I’m interested to see how it is handled as well.

c0mbatbag3l,
@c0mbatbag3l@lemmy.world avatar

I’d probably trade in the melee if I had to, but I really like having the kerenzikov since you cant equip a hacking module and a sandevistan at the same time.

Whirlybird, (edited ) do games w Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will have "very little downtime" when fast travelling

If you’re fast travelling in Spider man games you’re doing it wrong or the devs did traversal wrong.

Koen967,

Agreed. Webslinging across NY is the best part.

echoplex21, do xbox w Cyberpunk 2077's major 2.0 update arrives next week

Might be my next game after I’m done with Starfield. I’ve been holding off on this for ridiculously long.

clearedtoland,

I really enjoyed it when I played it for the first time in its 1.5(ish) state late last year. I’ve been really looking forward to the expansion and continuing the story. I’m actually somewhat apprehensive about the vehicle combat and police because the game was enjoyable without it - even though I massively missed them at first.

Been playing Starfield and not loving it but enjoying it. Yet I keep coming back to it every free moment I have. Been years since a game’s done that to me.

Ghostalmedia,
@Ghostalmedia@lemmy.world avatar

I’m going to pause Starfield for to play this expansion. Now that Cyberpunk is patched and running well, it’s what I wish Starfield actually was.

NOT_RICK,
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

I think this is probably the moment. I honestly enjoyed the game even at launch but I just laughed through all the jank. The story and world were good enough for me, I’m sure with all the fixes in place it’ll be a much more engaging package.

conciselyverbose, do gaming w Square Enix games misfire due to being "single producer's fiefdom", report suggests

Why is letting a producer have control of a project without being micromanaged a bad thing?

Every other publisher gets shit on for being heavy handed and not allowing project leads creative freedom to do their job instead.

falsem,

That person ends up being the success or failure of the project. If they're doing a bad or mediocre job there's nothing that can change that course because you won't know that until it's too late. The flip-side is that it prevents 'design-by-committee' mediocrity and can allow people with bold visions to express those ideas.

Hyzerflip, do games w Unity bosses sold stock days before development fees announcement, raising eyebrows

Curious to see if he actually buys any of it back, then that’s an issue. Pump stock and sell high, tank it to buy low.

B0NK3RS, do xbox w EA confirms The Sims 5 will be free-to-play and co-exist alongside The Sims 4
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

My wife plays The Sims games so I have a passing interest and it’s already heavy on DLC so I can almost guarantee how insane 5 will be!

nanoUFO, (edited ) do games w [Rumor] Embracer reportedly considering selling Borderlands developer Gearbox
@nanoUFO@sh.itjust.works avatar

My hope is that people leave and make a new studio and some new IP’s. These large publishers buying everything and then running into the ground due to endess growth is tiring.

darkstar, do gaming w Monkey Island-like Foolish Mortals moved to 2024, improvements inbound

I haven’t heard anything about this until now, but I loved the Monkey Island games. I started with Monkey Island 3 because I was too young to be aware of the other two. I didn’t like the fourth one much because they changed the style a lot. I think DoubleFine did made a few Monkey Island games after, but I haven’t played those.

The Lucas Arts games of this era were amazing, so let’s see if this will live up to them, since it seems to be aiming for that. Full Throttle was sick, and I would love if somehow Full Throttle 2 were to still happen. Insert skeleton “still waiting” meme.

DuzAwe,

Tell tale made one and Sony help fund remasters of 1 and 2. Double fine wasn’t involved other than being founded by Tim Schafer whom worked in them before leaving Lucas arts.

The new one was independent with all the old crew except Tim Schafer

darkstar,

Ah, sorry. I think I confused Telltale and Double Fine.

circuitfarmer, do games w Baldur's Gate 3 on PS5 is effectively the PC version at ultra settings
@circuitfarmer@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

Yeah, it runs very nicely on ultra on a variety of hardware. It’s been optimized and has even improved since release.

I am hoping they improved the controller interface, though. I use that even though I play the PC version, and it was somewhat broken as of a couple weeks ago.

catshit_dogfart, do games w Baldur's Gate 3 on PS5 is effectively the PC version at ultra settings

I think this game could run on PS4 just fine. Turn off raytracing and a few other things and it would probably work.

But then, I guess they can’t keep releasing for the old console forever.

sadreality, (edited )

If there is money in it... Why not?

We got millions of gamers on old hardware. If they can do it, let all gamers have at it imho

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

PS5 gamers are more likely to put down $70 for a new game than PS4 players are to put down $60 on a new game. It’s probably just not a worthwhile investment.

FoundTheVegan,
@FoundTheVegan@kbin.social avatar

Consoles are expensive. Cutting off support to older equipment is rough. Keeping your entertainment "current" is a big ask for a lot of people who are already struggling. As long as people are using the old stuff, devs should do what they can inside the technical limits to extend their lifespan.

exscape,
@exscape@kbin.social avatar

There's no RT in BG3. At least not yet.

Kbin_space_program,

Given that the issue with the Xbox S is the split screen, I'd suspect that the PS4 would have the same issue.

conciselyverbose,

It seems pretty CPU limited and the CPU on last gen was dogshit from day one.

circuitfarmer,
@circuitfarmer@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

I ran it on an i7 4790k initially and definitely felt it. I think you’re right that whatever APU is in the PS4 would scream and run.

LoafyLemon, (edited )

There's no Ray Tracing in Baldur's Gate 3.

\edit Someone already said that. Ignore.

Soulyezer, do games w Nintendo demoed Switch 2 to developers at Gamescom

Whirling_Ashandarei, do games w PC and console cross-play is on the roadmap for Baldur's Gate 3

Happy to hear it, bought it thinking it was going to be cross play on launch and was getting worried.
