Ilflish,

1.5 kind of makes sense. It holds Kingdom Hearts 1 and a remake of the GBA game that comes before Kingdom Hearts 2 (also comes with a the cutscenes of another game between 1 and 2). I guess they wanted to keep the naming similar because 2.5 comes with Kingdom Hearts 2 and…a prequel to every game… and a cutscene collection of some weird side game about an AI. They then released a bundle of both of these on PS4 which they named 1.5+2.5. 2.8 they were really scrambling. Because they wanted to release the rest of the games in some way before Kingdom Hearts 3 so that holds a sequel to Kingdom Hearts 2, A standalone demo for 3 and…a movie from the earliest part of the series that actually is a giant pit of questions with no answers which may or may not have been answered by the gacha. No idea.

Ilflish,

This is such a fanboy opinion. Sony killed basically their entire Japanese Development, had 13 GaaS in development at the same time and actively are holding back the standard of Cross Save. They give plenty of reasons to not be the ‘gamer’ console. Especially now when they are also beginning to drop games on gamepass.

Ironically we still know of more single player games coming to Xbox then games coming to Sony outside of Spider-Man Leaks.

Fallout is currently the hottest game on the market thanks to the Show on top of this.

This really fucking sucks but damn stop trying to use this as a way to promote your team

Ilflish,

No need for a remake. I’m fine to take remake or remasters of games stuck on legacy software but DMC 1 already has one its available on modern PCs.

Ilflish, (edited )

I don’t think that’s true. I remember seeing some of this stuff on store description at the very least and as far as I’m aware, some reviews mentioned the DLC could not be reviewed because it wasn’t live which inferred it was known. I’ll have to research this tomorrow because I keep hearing both sides but this aligns with the fact they were available day one unlike RE4Make

Edit: A credible source suggesting DD2 Microtransactions were known about by Reviewers and just never mentioned. forbes.com/…/why-dragons-dogma-2-reviews-didnt-me…

Ilflish,

Yes, this is the same as the first game. Ironically the DLC was also available for the first game

…fandom.com/…/List_of_Downloadable_Content#Misc

Ilflish,

If that’s the case you should get it. 4 was easily my favourite gameplay wise but the characters weren’t my favorite

Ilflish,

While I agree that the above commented is in order. It does not lead the industry in all other things. They are pretty mixed with performance and their online is pretty awful in comparison to other options. Accessibility is an awkward choice of words since I expect you mean accessible to ages because it also has pretty bad accessibility options. While people often mock Sony for playing it safe with it’s cinematic games it also feels like Nintendo’s IPs have slowly been conglomeration into a mould over the switches life.

Ilflish,

A Massively multiplayer online role playing game does not mean the game is a game as a service. It’s a route of finance just like some shooting games are and some aren’t.

Ilflish,

No, there are asshole in all types of games including Single player. Even if Souls has multiplayer, I’ve seen toxic communities in even games like Breath of the Wild

What games do you recommend for my girlfriend? angielski

My girlfriend has never really gamed. But she’s now forced to move less than she would like to (health problem) and she’s getting bored. I was thinking of introducing her to a game or two that we could play together. She’s not the real action game type, and seeing as she has no experience with controller/mouse and keyboard...

Ilflish,

No experience with games? Has she watched you play games, did she have favourites from those? Are there certain IPs she likes that would help?

My sister is now a casual gamer. The games that got her into it are Kingdom Hearts just via Disney branding and Uncharted (which she liked watching people play due to the Nathan Drake) which slid her to her favourite series Tomb Raider.

I recommend going that route instead of trying to find some weird fit since if she likes Harry Potter for example one of the best solutions regardless of the time you put in will be Hogwarts Legacy.

Ilflish,

I’m playing Devil’s Advocate here. How long is the notice up? In the past, I’ve played games and looked up ways to remove intro videos like logo splashscreens for games I play a decent amount of. If it’s there for 5-10 seconds and I wanted to speedrun the game for example, I can imagine wanting to remove it without any bigotry.

Edit: if it can be disabled that destroys my point.

Ilflish,

If you tried the customisation, it feels extremely bare bones in comparison to Tekken 7. So I wouldn’t be surprised if stuff was removed to add to the Store.

Ilflish,

Neat, I’m with everyone here when I say this is the much better solution.I’d prefer it to be a bit more clear of a warning and a bit less of a company apology so people who do need the warnings such as younger kids are informed and not immediately put off by playing something almost immediately presented as ‘inexcusable’.

Ilflish,

I liked the concept of Kakarot but boy was it full of filler. Other than that we’ve had a One Piece RPG which was supposedly alright and a Fairy Tail game which was supposedly alright. We had Dragon Ball Fighters which is one of the most visually impressive Dragon Ball games imo. And we had the Shounen Jump game which seemed like it was supposed to be a big deal anyway but wasn’t great.

On a different note there’s a Shin-chan and Doraemon game for something more low stakes.

Ilflish,

I’ve been hearing rumblings of people complaining about current game advertisement cycles being too long. Immortals, is a great example of one too short. Announced at Summer Game Fest and released in August(?). We don’t need long Ad campaigns for old brands but if you want to market a new IP as Triple A you have to put in the work to reach unplugged gamers, and it barely reached plugged in gamers.

Ilflish,

And it was an international release as well.

Ilflish,

I have avoided the trailers for spoilers reasons but the first game has a fast travel component it’s just not standards. There is teleport stone at the main city which you can go back to and you can place(?) A couple in other places. Generally when you have to travel for main quests between places it’s as part of the main quest.

I do respect your stance though obviously if a game is directed in a way that you don’t vibe with there’s no reason to force yourself to play it

Ilflish,

The solution is for everyone else to act like school kids and treat the guy like he has a crush and make fun of him. No one likes to be told they’re sitting in a tree.

Ilflish,

I think as someone who enjoys being in the zeitgeist of gaming. The switch is still kind of non debatable. It has way too many varied and strong first parties. While Sony doesn’t have as many. Most of their game release within the GotY range currently so also worth it.

If you are a normal gamer. You are correct in some way. Realistically I may recommend Xbox in favour basically only for gamepass. It’s cheaper than a PC post graphics card gouge and is less scary to newcomers. Their gamepass is also slightly better.

Ilflish,

I was pretty happy to let FF innovate and leave DQ as the stable JRPG release and then they announced DQ12 would be more action focused

Ilflish,

Only issue with 9 is it’s slow

Video game actors speak out after union announces AI voice deal (www.videogameschronicle.com) angielski

According to SAG AFTRA, the deal will “enable Replica to engage SAG-AFTRA members under a fair, ethical agreement to safely create and license a digital replica of their voice. Licensed voices can be used in video game development and other interactive media projects from pre-production to final release.”...

Ilflish,

I agree. The key factor is getting this settled before some smart people get this working seemlessly. It’s stupid to hear that there wasn’t any unionised info decisions for a union though. I guess you ask the union to speak for you but it’s the unions job to speak back.

https://www.windowscentral.com/gaming/the-suicide-squad-may-already-be-dead-with-kill-the-justice-league-game-previews-not-looking-so-good

Ilflish,

They were already way in development by that point. Companies do know live service isn’t the bubble they thought it would be but it’s either lose all investments or get some return in the hope they hit the mass. Where they really fucked up is with the delay. Looks like nothing has changed as has put them in the fire with the end of fiscal year 2023. It’s also coming out same day as Persona 3 Reload which will likely be a heavily praised single player game. At least last April we hadn’t hit the maelstrom of “GOTY each week”.

Ilflish,

It was community chosen. So a lot of people trolled. There’s a random dating sim in the"Outstanding story" finalists

store.steampowered.com/app/…/Love_Is_All_Around

Ilflish,

Well China doesn’t like companies having power so this is a way to neuter them, especially in response to trying to limit online game consumption already.

Edit: Tencent is apparently the most profitable company in china right now so this is a direct attack at their profits most likely, not just China doing good

Edit2: This video goes into it a bit youtu.be/uieLEIVlQgc?si=mNiOlXPn9k7V6XX-

Ilflish,

I don’t think it’s too controversial to suggest that 5e mechanics are not the strength of BG3. It would be arguably praised more if it kept the world design of BG3 and replaced the combat to have the spell scope of DO2 with the basic actions of 5e (aka shove, which arguably BG3 tweaked anyway to make it fun in combat)

I’ll miss the design approach of the game but BG3 was just a big advertisement to how good a D:OS3 will be

Ilflish,

If the modding community likes Starfield it should really help with the emptiness of space at least. I can imagine the idea of just building an entire quest line in your selected planet would be nice for avoiding mod conflicts

Ilflish,

I know that happened but I’d need to see more of a consensus from modders before I call it a wash. If modders continue to add to the game, it will likely become more appealing and the actual foundation to add mods seems pretty decent.

Ilflish,

I think you can learn a lot from apex even if it’s not the obvious choice. For Counterstrike 2 the trailer was dropped, aggressively marketed and a beta was put in people’s hands basically at the same time solidifying the game is good. Then it disappeared until launch. It very clearly worked because there were no complaints about the game. No question how good it is because the streamers played it. Then it’s just a waiting game. BG3 not quite the same but putting the game into people’s hands meant that people knew it was solid, before launch. Access creates buzz, especially if a game is enjoyable. It’s the through line between all the success stories. Let people play good game, then other people want to play the good game.

Ilflish,

Also, of the three ladies (you will typically find in your first playthrough, sorry Minthara) she is the last you can romance, so if your are a completionist you will end with her (I regret not making a save)

Ilflish,

I’m not even sure then being non binary (I think they are referred to that way? May be translation though) is the issue, but them coercing a kid to bathe with them all might upset people.

Ilflish,

Mother 3 may be the only game that made me teary. I think there may be another I’m blocking out but I generally avoiding trying to be sad

Ilflish,

No one would be complaining if it was labeled as a director’s cut but maybe theres a legit marketing reason to avoid the label

Ilflish,

It’s a heavy year so I can understand Hogwarts being left off especially since people have a reason to dislike. Very loved by the casual audience (where I am at least) but I don’t think any of my gamer friends cared for it that much.

Ilflish,

Thoughts like this are why AW2 only has one entry for performance. I’d much rather a game that excels gets many nominations then hand out pity nominations to get everyone pleased

Ilflish,

I was under the assumption the collections that utilize this system do it by just saving the inputs and timestamps and simulate them as such rather than understanding the entire whole state. I’m not sure how it works with non-seeded elements

I do agree with you about the dev focus. It would be way more complex even though if feasible if you can simulate without it graphically but you I can’t imagine it just being a system similar to recording or achievements

Ilflish,

If you truly felt this way, you would buy it anyway and then watch the game playthrough as suggested.

The idea of watching playthough’s has some controversial facets for sure but I’m not really gonna yuck someone’s yum

Ilflish,

That game really only had the co-op distinct vision stuff and I think I pretty much hated the entire rest of the game.

Ilflish,

I’m about 13 hours in AW2 and it’s not a complication. This is one of the few easy choices to put up there. BG3, this and TotK even if it wasn’t my cup of tea. 3 last 3 have a bunch of choices but I would be very confused if AW was snubbed with some of the issues the other contenders have (RE4 is an exception to this, it’s risk is just that it’s a remake and now there is a concrete horror candidate)

Ilflish,

Not being playable is a bit extreme, it’s just boring and tedious, and steps back on its extreme design choices of the predecessor

Ilflish,

10 hours in and I’m loving it. I’m sure there will pure mechanic purists who hate and and those it might be too abstract for but this feels like purely a step up from control

Ilflish,

The opposite is also true. You created an engine already, why do you want a new one? Just add to the existing one. Starfield is not the only industry game working on legacy engines

Ilflish,

While I argue your response is an equity Vs equality issue and your basketball argument kind of conflicts your previous statement, there is the the huge difference of individual cost per game to cater to a/all disability. As you mention automation of these systems aren’t really feasible and although guidelines can be put in place. They are still a significant investment of time and money. You can implement them into an engine but you still need the game to integrate it and although some things might be easy across multiple games (colour blind overlays) some won’t (mechanic driven considerations).

Do you find the description Live Service Game off-putting? angielski

Over the years, there’ve been various red flags in gaming, for me at least. Multi-media. Full-Motion Video. Day-One DLC. Microtransactions. The latest one is Live Service Game. I find the idea repulsive because it immediately tells me this is an online-required affair, even if it doesn’t warrant it. There’s no reason for...

Ilflish,

Live service comes across as life service. A game made to monopolize my time and become a significant part of my life by using addictive systems. By the very nature of enjoying the variety of games, it will immediately turn me off a game.

Ilflish,

The managers who make the decisions is also unclear as power differs on the company. They could care all the way up to the CEO but if the CEO puts an unrealistic deadline, the game has an unrealistic deadline

Hideki Kamiya thinks Japan should be proud of ‘JRPG’ and wants to use ‘J-Action’ (www.videogameschronicle.com) angielski

He added: “So when it comes to the term ‘JRPG’, this is something that ties into this – these are RPG games that, in a sense, only Japanese creators can make with their unique sensitivity when it comes to creating these experiences. “I think it’s certainly something that should be celebrated moving forward, and...

Ilflish,

This just goes back to JRPG being vague and not giving any real info anyway.

If I told you I like Dark Souls which is arguably a JRPG or a more obvious Earthbound, why would it be better to say ah, “Disgaea or Kingdom Hearts are JRPG, you’ll like them”.

Ilflish,

I’m a bit confused by this message since I was suggesting JRPG as a genre wasn’t clear, and the argument(?) Is that Dark Souls isn’t a JRPG and you’ve sub-classified a bunch of different JRPGs how I agree.

If the argument is that we can still use JRPG in conjunction, I think this is valid but I still feel that coining things based on country of origin isa bit off, almost like insinuating a stereotype when we also agree they don’t have to follow it.
