Literally, read some of their patents. Its all shit like “System For Switching From Character To Vehicle In Top-Down 2D Environment”. Like how tf can you actually patent a model and (software) controller swap? Shits basic AF I have done that before.
Yeah I love Epic’s cloud saves… Wait… I mean I love their supreme 80% discounts… No wait, I mean I love their integrated friends li… Their API?.. No, I mean their customizable launche…Well, the two free games they hand out once a month are alright.
Literally my favorite game right now. Most of it is randomly generated and it still manages to captivate you in a world thats both weird and enthralling. Live and drink, water-sibs.
One thing I have struggled with lately is finding good games to play. I bounce around from game to game trying to enjoy it but it just doesn’t scratch the itch like it used to. For example, one of my favorites was old school RuneScape, but it hasn’t really been giving me the same enjoyment that it used to. So then I would...
Caves of Qud has nearly infinite replay value with all the random generations + mods. You can do nearly anything you set your mind to. Same with Project Ozone 3 (Minecraft mod). If you like goal orientated games that are multiplayer try Space Station 13. That shit is nuts, and I mean 13 not the 14 on Steam it doesnt have half of what the old one does. But the launcher is about to go out for 13 so get it while you can.
I found that Two Worlds had a lot of fuck around potential. You can infinitely combine weapons that are duplicates to strengthen them. I once killed every NPC in the entire game and used the resurrection spell on them so everyone was completely loyal to me even monsters.
If you can still find it. There was this online Pokémon game that was somehow realistic. You controlled your character typed ccommands for your Pokémon. And they were always alongside you when out of their ball. It was hardcore as shit. I got my cheeks clapped multiple tines trying to run to a different village by gangs of mankeys and caterpies. Nintendo is just drooling on the floor not doing this officially. It took forever to level, it was an extreme challenge to find stuff to evolve your Pokémon. Ugh I hope thats still out there somewhere.
A less spoken one nowadays that is also very fun is still the original Morrowind. Absolutely mind blowing how expansive that game is to this day. It is still just as legendary as it was back then even if it is a little dated. I actually come to like it when a game isn’t guiding me on what to do in an RPG. It feels more immersive when I’m supposed to know what a Guar looks like.
Rather than actually include their soundtracks on popular platforms, Nintendo graciously offers their own mobile app locked behind the Switch online subscription…
And now for something completely different… The Complex is actually an interactive film! Sort of a “choose your own adventure” kind of story. You play as Dr. Amy Tenent (played by Michelle Mylett, of Letterkenny fame) as she deals with a medical science crisis....
It’s been awhile since I’ve noticed this honestly, probably around the time they refactored the library & different views for your games but I realized that those annoying self-updating client packages that would restart steam seem to be a thing of the past. I was looking through my download history and the thought occurred...
We’re all just roleplaying as our ancestors hunting down mammoths and giant sloths to get fur and meat. No wonder it’s so addictive. The book is Sapiens btw
For real, that was us. Megafauna are not viable anymore cause some hairless apes are going to throw stuff at the big target if its there. And apparently throwing stuff accurately is so OP that it took us to the top of the foodchain. Crazy.
I mean is it predatory? And following dark patterns? Or is there a cosmetic shop and thats about it? I dont mind mtx in indie games like that, but if they’re following dark patterns like a mobile game where it tries to create frustration so you pay then I have a problem. Developers gotta eat, and indies are extra hungry.
Whatever form is pulled from the ether into the material is what it shall be. Celebrate that you created something and release it anyway! People are clicking a banana on steam right now
Hey, look! It’s a Space Giraffe Tick Penguin Thing, stuck in a walkway! This guy kept walking onto my factory floor and getting trapped in weird places. I turned my back for one second and somehow he got his head stuck between my walkways! Dude… I had to remove the walkways so he could get back on all fours and move on....
Today’s game is Modded Minecraft. I took a brief break from Fallout New Vegas because some friends asked me to setup (and play) a Modded Minecraft server with them due to me being the only computer guy and this was the base I setup....
Modded Minecraft is the nest, Ice and Fire is a really fun mod, idk if thats the one where you can tame and ride the dragons as a mount but its fun. If you have a lot of time, and kinda get an itch scratched from factories, Project Ozone 3 is a crazy huge modpack that is really fun
In your opinion, what games released in the 2020s decade (the current one) will be forgotten (i.e. no longer talked about, or known) 20 years from now?
Unfortunately, Wizard of Legend 2 when it releases will.probably be forgotten if the beta is anything to go off of. Other forgettable mentions:
WH40k: Dark Tide
Nessiu
Kill the Justice League
WH40k: Rogue Trader (rip cause BO3 dominated it)
Astroneer (not sure if this is a 2020- release)
Friends vs Friends (sad cause its bomb but dead)
I don’t really play many multiplayer FPS games. But a while ago I discovered Splitgate and I really liked it. It’s the only multiplayer FPS I’ve played much of. But I’ve stopped playing it because development has stopped and also I was experiencing occasional stutters on Linux....
And just to actually add something:
Halo Masterchief Collection,
Friends vs Friends (you actually do need friends for this one its kinda dead but fun as hell),
Unreal Tournament 2004 (large private server scene),
Any entry in the Quake series really.
I think it’s absolutely appalling that Sony is raising prices on controllers while basically under supplying the dual sense edge joysticks and refusing to fix the stick drift issues. I have 3 controllers and each one of them has the same problem after a few months. It’s maddening.
Lmao shoot your own foot I guess. People will buy 3rd party instead of official when the prices get too high. It was already nearly as much as a AAA title to get a single controller.
Runescape is jacking up their subscription prices next month, going from like 12 bucks to 14 bucks a month. The increases range from 20% to 56% in price depending on currency. Players are PISSED about it especially since the company got bought out by some investment firm earlier this year, and they see it as a shameless cash...
Gridworld - a simulation game made up of a grid, as the name suggests. You can control the size of the grid, and what spawns in it. The core of the game are these tiny creatures that each take up 1 square. They have varying nodes on them that represent traits and abilities. Under the hood the game says these have to be “wired” correctly by the neural network to make a creature act right. So basically you let this thing run for hours and eventually get little square creatures that eat plants and maybe each other to live.
The first one was really hard to look at. I’m not a “graphix makez thuh game” kinda person but that one was out there. Really the only thing that needed to be fixed was portal placement. I found they were way weird and unintuitive when all I really wanted was for them to work like Portal.
Tread carefully with Unity, at any time they could decide again that you just pay them for each install, even past installs. Map looks classic though, I imagine fast paced arena shooter action taking place there.
On a more serious note its really fun and easy. If you’re nervous watch a few YouTube videos or take one of those online courses at GameDev.tv that just shows you around and how it works.
Great! If its rough it means you’re learning! I’ll check it out. Dont forget. Those skills are transferable* so the next time Unity decides to back charge for every download you can jump ship without much worry. Just focus on the design, take what you can in abstract, and you’ll just keep getting better.
When you act erratic like that, you got caught. If you were innocent of even intention no long winded explanation of “they want me to disappear” would be necessary as the messages wouldnt even exist. The dildo of consequences has arrived for Guy Beahm.
I mean it’d be like Nintendo suing Cassette Beasts.
I think GameFreak has sat in its own shit too long.
These indies are coming right up their ass with ideas that were just waiting for the Pokémon IP and now GameFreak can’t touch them. (The ideas not the lawsuits)
