It feels like they’re turning focus to PC and abandoning Xbox. I don’t own an Xbox myself though.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

That is awful. That better be just a shitty video capture in official promotional material. If Fall Guys can do it you can too, Sega.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

Arrowhead did not have the infrastructure for this many people. Sony barely pulled it off at launch and cross play still sucks.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

I’m gonna be honest. It didn’t matter to them at the time. Look at it. They made their game and we all played it and loved it. For that time they were on cloud nine. They definitely got what they wanted, for a moment anyway. I can’t say I wouldn’t end up in the same situation if I was ever more than a shit dev.

Edit: but to add, I’d put huge banners in game saying it was a requirement at login. As far as I know I was never bothered in game for it. And if I was it was too easy to click and ignore.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

Well my PSN account is banned so am I just fucked? Lol what a joke

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah I’m not making a 49th account to play a game I bought with my steam account. That’s just another attack vector for me to deal with. Especially when I’ve been playing on my steam account just fine. Not to mention, my PSN credentials have already been hacked from PlayStation once before after the account was banned. Someone was trying to login to it. So why the fuck would I trust them a second time? Its just more data to leak that’s mine.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

Because Xbox and Windows are fully integrated. Most people gaming don’t have to have a separate account, just an Xbox username that you create once and it is attached to your Microsoft account. You’re right about EA making you download the worst launcher in existence, but this statement about security is bs. Its more about them controlling the psn accounts and not the steam ones.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

I can say, when you’re out there with your squad and it feels like space Vietnam, that’s why its selling. That portion of the atmosphere, gameplay, and intensity is on point

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

I’d prefer 6 with a real Virgil campaign.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

Not easily searchable, only solves the problem of the user who is currently being interacted with, and on top of that a forum does everything you mentioned but better because it is indexed in the web, meaning the next person with that problem will probably find the forum post before they contact you. No one is taking these discord chats and updating FAQs with them, and if they were, they could save that time by just having a forum that is indexed by search engines. IRC isn’t the best option, but it limits corpo takedowns like this so at least what you have doesn’t randomly get nuked one day. Altogether, moving from forums to discord is a massive downgrade and much information will be lost in the Discord Exodus that will come with time as the company consumes its users for the shareholders.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

Play it. You never have to spend a dime. Its a great relaxing game to just fly around with your kids or something. The season passes net you like cosmetics that do nothing. You can get 3 for 15 bucks. What they get you on is the candle currency. Some of the items are like 150 candles and you aren’t collecting that in a month without a serious grind. I still recommend it especially if you liked their other game, Journey.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

I love them all. But Majora’s Mask and Ocarina of Time will always live in my heart. As well as the original, I beat that one yearly.

I didn’t see the files posted to also print one, but after watching the video I don’t think I could even if I had them. I see why they aren’t manufactured, but I want that controller so bad.

Jagex co-founder and ex-employee (Andrew Gower) announces new MMORPG inspired by RuneScape (store.steampowered.com)

I mean, when I saw an ex-Jagex employee making a new MMO I thought it was going to be slightly inspired by RuneScape… But this game looks exactly like RuneScape, and the description of the gameplay also matches it perfectly - this is essentially RuneScape 3 but managed by someone else (and with a much newer engine)

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

Okay but the gameplay loop is exactly the same. Why give up your 20 year old runescape account to go play runescape with a different name?

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

EA’s games? Thats not a bong, its a lobotomy needle.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

I agree who the fuck thought this was a good idea? What happens if Joel suddenly kicks the bucket or is injured? Why is this not an automated system that has the option of being manually adjusted? This sounds like a downgrade from L4D.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

If its the latest game you’ve played that doesnt you should look at Beyond All Reason. Its free and open source. No season passes or mtx of any kind.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

Imagine if your GPU drivers just updated through your package manager. We could have so much automated shit but Nvidia needs tk collect your personal data so heres a web page disguised ss an app. I fucken hate this shit.

What adventure games do you recommend? angielski

pretty much the title. i have played most of sierra, lucasarts and telltale catalogues so if you are suggesting one of their games i’ve probably already played it. it doesn’t have to be a copycat, homage or in the same style as these companies’ games either, just that it must satisfy the vague definition of being an...

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

Rain World. Fits the vague definition with some survival elements. But it is heavy on story, atmospheric story-telling, and heavily influenced by Hinduism.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah it doesnt spoon feed you the story. You have to discover the characters and they each share a bit of lore with you. Most of these come from lore pearls or having enough karma to see the Echos and talk to them. I don’t want to spoil it for you though. As part of the game is peeling off your animal struggles to see what is actually around you.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

Games are hard to make. Its even harder to adapt plots because what works for watching doesnt drive the same enagagement when you play it.

Except for Berserk, what the fuck guys. FromSoft had to come in and make something because whoever was handling this just couldn’t see it.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

Since the good ones have been said, allow me to give a niche option; Untold Legends. Grab youself a psp or an emulator and enjoy. It slaps.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

And then they fired the team that helped make it

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

I get what they mean. I can only see 1,297,948 flood my screen a certain amount of times before I ignore the numbers. It was hopeful where it came from, RPGs and TRPGs are much slower games than shooters and therefor the information is digested easier. But 30 minutes into a game of borderlands and or Destiny and I’m not looking at those numbers anymore. They spill out everywhere and so fast, and by endgame they really arent changing all the time. So whats the point? Extra dopamine when the shot lands?

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

Thats okay FromSoft, you go when you feel like it. I will instantly pick ER back up.

Sanctus,

Armored Core is one of their oldest running IPs and a series I have been playing since 2nd installment. AC6 was without a doubt the best one. Highly recommend.

Here’s a video of Doom running on gut bacteria, proving you really can play the game on anything (www.engadget.com)

An MIT biotech researcher has been able to run the iconic computer game Doom using actual gut bacteria. Lauren Ramlan didn’t get the game going on a digital simulation of bacteria, but turned actual bacteria into pixels to display the 30-year-old FPS, as reported by Rock Paper Shotgun....

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

The title is misleading and the article even points it out. She is displaying Doom (which is still cool and kinda fucking crazy) on bacteria. It is not being processed by the bacteria.

Corporate control rises, and piracy to meet it.

Good luck enforcing non-ownership on people who post classified government docs to prove their digital war vehicles are accurate or not. It may overlap, but this is not the same audience.

Video game actors speak out after union announces AI voice deal (www.videogameschronicle.com) angielski

According to SAG AFTRA, the deal will “enable Replica to engage SAG-AFTRA members under a fair, ethical agreement to safely create and license a digital replica of their voice. Licensed voices can be used in video game development and other interactive media projects from pre-production to final release.”...

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

I think it would be better for all involved if we figure this out now. Existing Voice Actors should not have their performances used without their explicit consent. Any performances used by current or past voice actors must have explicit consent and compensation. “New” voices generates by AI must be sufficiently differing from existing performances and any existing performances used in the generation must have consent by the original voice actor.

After Crytek had thoroughly fucked them, yes. Much of the key people were the same and thats really what I referred to. The Old Guarde did not survive a second fall.

More importantly, people who directly influenced my childhood via Goldeneye and the original TS were in there when it went down again. To them, I give the mightiest of salutes.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

I’ve seen this article 15 fucken times today. They’re children who have never known a world without microtransactions. They also get these games for free, its not like they’re choosing subs over a game. They are choosing a sub for a game. Much like I did with WoW when it was the thing back in the day.

And where was this shit with flash games? “Kids would rather load a webpage than buy games”

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

I wouldn’t really use this as an indicator. Read your terms of agreements in most games. You do not own any of those virtual items. My D Scimmy is property of Jagex, not Sanctus. Subscription games have existed for as long as there has been dial-up. Phantasy Star Online Episode 1 & 2 made you buy a “Hunter’s License” to play online. Neopets has a term in the TAS that states you do not own anything belonging to your Neopets account.

The minute it gets alarming is when the normal goes from “buying your first home/car” to renting, which we already have one foot through the door on that front. Physical commodities are a much better indicator of our dystopian qualities. Once people stop expecting to own a home, and are just excited to return to their corner of the habblock then we have a problem.

Games as a Service on the other hand, are mostly symptoms of our unregulated technology markets. Its much more profitable to release the license to play your game for free and pack it with predatory microtransactions than it is to release an actual piece work for a game. So we will continue to see more of the shitpacked experiences as they continue to be profitable.

If you want to own digital things, consider finding games on Itch.io whwre you can buy them directly from the creator.

There might be underlying problems with our collective psyche. We seem to gravitate towards strong figures clouded in religious myths.

Also, I’m a Wagh kinda guy myself. Nuthen beetz a gud ol’ krumpin’.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

That might be where most people have a problem. This may be completely anecdotal, but it seems a majority of people want things to be black and white. They want their villians easily identifiable, they want their heroes as pure as the first oxygen molecule. That may be why a lot of fans seem to choose the Space Marines as the “good guys” in a galaxy where there are none. I’ll never understand it cause its boring, put that yin in my yang and vice versa. I want stained heroes and misguided antagonists. I want a pain in my heart as it tries to decide who to root for.
