sirico, (edited ) w We’ve suspended player trading in Diablo IV until further notice due to a gold and item duplication exploit.

When you buy a game and it turns out it’s just a direct debit. Games aren’t supposed to be fun they’re supposed to make money off you plebs

rocky1138, w This Fallout New Vegas Mod adds a real-time reflections system

This is amazing but I wish that more work would go into making it more stable and bug-free. Quite a few times now I’ve had to stop playing due to crashes and bugs.

ADHDefy,
@ADHDefy@kbin.social avatar

No stability.

Only graphic.

Coelacanth,
@Coelacanth@feddit.nu avatar

That hasn’t really been my experience. If you just want to play the game you can stick to the performance, anti-crash, stability and bug fix mods and have a very stable game.

Learning to expand your load order beyond that can be exhausting (and probably takes some work in Wrye Flash and xEdit), but I played through the entire campaign and all DLCs last year with like 400+ mods and had no crashes and only one real bug.

FracturedEel,

Did you have to use wrye bash a lot? I just used it a couple times last year for skyrim I think and I’ve never used xedit are they pretty simple?

Coelacanth,
@Coelacanth@feddit.nu avatar

It depends on what types of mods you have installed, and when they came out. Leveled lists used to be a reason, but many modern F:NV mods instead add entries to leveled lists via scripts on startup (thanks JIP!) and so are all compatible with each other.

I needed Bash for Cell edits primarily, because I wanted to use the old Interior Lighting Overhaul since I think it looks better than the newer scripted ones.

Wrye Flash is also great to combine patches into a single file to keep the load order down. Even with the mod limit remover, F:NV gets unstable if it has too many .esp’s loaded. The patch combining feature is automatic and easy to use.

I did spend a huge amount of time creating a personal compatibility patch in xEdit. It’s extremely simple to do manually once you learn it, but can take time. I had several overhauls like CCO and Vicious Wastes that I wanted to combine, with overlaps where I wanted to use the CCO version for some things and the VW for others, for example. I also had to do some manual edits to make sure I got the Brave New World faces and voices working with New Vegas Redesigned 3, the auto-patch missed some.

beiberfan,
peppersky, w Baldur's Gate 3 is now the top rated game on Open Critic

Baldur’s Gate 3 is the living proof that - at least as far as RPGs are concerned - absolutely nothing happened in the last fifteen to twenty years of gaming. Make one good AAA RPG and people lose their minds over it. I mean it certainly is better than the slob Bethesda served up in the last two decades.

regbin_, w After 27,000+ Steam reviews, Overwatch 2 is graded as 'Overwhelmingly Negative'

I personally think Overwatch 2 is a great game compared to OW1, especially for going F2P and removing the loot box. I have played OW1 since 2017 but since it is a paid game, none of my friends play it and we all played Apex instead when it came out.

Fast forward to 2022, they actually removed loot box (fuck gambling) and made it F2P. I have been playing OW2 almost every day since launch. Haven’t touched Apex a single time since then.

sylverstream,

I never played ow1 but I did enjoy OW2. One of the few multiplayer shooters where I didn’t suck. However I noticed I got very frustrated by it and seemed to get addicted as well. Also noticed I enjoyed other games less. Stopped playing and feeling better now.

time_fo_that,

I liked the free lootboxes with chances of getting cool stuff than the damn $20 every couple months battle passes where you actually cannot get anything interesting without paying for it.

regbin_,

You liked getting free cool stuff, not the loot boxes. They can still give away cool stuff for free even without loot boxes but they chose to stop doing so and it sucks.

I think the Battle Pass is fair, it’s $10 every 2 months. It helps keep the game running. Overwatch 1 was going to die if they kept going with the old business model.

Annoyed_Crabby, w 295K Minecraft fans criticise lack of new content in Stop the Mob Vote petition

Nice, mob vote is stupid and easily manipulated and also divide the fandom like british divide and conquer their colony.

Just ask the fans how they feel about Phantom.

HidingCat, w Counter-Strike 2 has a lower rating than any other Valve game, ever

Did they forget that failed CCG that Valve was trying? Pretty sure that went into Mostly Negative for a bit too.

monk,

Lol Artefact. I did forget about that

HidingCat,

Yea, I forgot the name too, that's why I didn't name it. xD

Kolgeirr, w New look for PS5 console this holiday season

When I bought my PS5 a few months ago I considered waiting for a PS5 Slim in the hopes that it would be less fuckin ugly. Glad I didn’t wait, because they managed to make it worse by basically slapping the disc drive to the side.

Molecular0079,

Yeah, seriously. The addon drive looks uglier than the Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Wirrvogel, w Dredge smashes internal expectations after topping 1 million sales
@Wirrvogel@feddit.de avatar

They must have had a hard time with the Unity bullsh*t then. I guess they weren’t so sure if it was going to be a party or bancruptcy for two weeks.

PM_ME_FEET_PICS,

The game is months old.

Wirrvogel,
@Wirrvogel@feddit.de avatar

The first new paying model was also targeting games that were old(er) and already out for some time. That was one reason the backlash was so terrible. They backpaddled now because of the backlash, but I am sure this developer was sweating a lot in the last weeks.

Summzashi, w A heroic Starfield modder just straight-up deleted those repetitive temple 'puzzles' from the game

Wow, so brave

zpoex, w Meta Quest 3 demand allegedly 5 million units below expected level
@zpoex@sh.itjust.works avatar

Lol what did they even expect… Their VR team has to be dysfunctional in some way. Like my quest2 somehow got worse after a new upgrade. They added these stupid ass cartoon arms (which cannot be disabled!!) and also your headset is used as a controller after your controllers idle for 5 minutes, which became a huge pain in the ass when watching movies. (Also can’t be disabled btw)

Idc about all that Facebook shit (although it’ll be way nicer to not have it), but everything about the quest except the hardware is just so fucking stupid. I have way higher expectation on Apple’s device… Say what you want about them, but they don’t have braindead product design (most of the time hehe)

Molecular0079,

Omg I thought I was the only one who hated the arms. Nothing worse than putting down your controllers on the table and then having those stupid arms spaz out around your screen as it tries to resolve how your hand could possibly be in that position.

I totally agree. Each firmware upgrade has just made my Quest 2 worse and worse.

zpoex,
@zpoex@sh.itjust.works avatar

Haha it seems like a common complaint on Reddit at least. The virtual environment stuff in Oculus is such a shitshow lmao

Anticorp,

And you can’t reject an update. They won’t even let you use your headset if there’s an update available. I haven’t used mine in months because every time I try to use it the battery is dead, then once I get it charged it needs an update, and by the time that’s done I don’t have any time left.

zpoex,
@zpoex@sh.itjust.works avatar

Hahahah fr… Like all I want is to play some simple games (eleven vr for example) and watch movies. Why tf you gotta add all these extra bs. But I guess that’s just them as a company. Rift S is so much easier to use

HidingCat,

Lolwut, cartoon arms? This I gotta see. xD Gonna trawl YouTube for examples.

redcalcium, w Epic only realized it had ‘financial problem’ that led to layoffs 10 weeks ago

What happened 10 weeks ago? Did they run some projections and realized their Fortnite revenue aren’t going to cover the operating expense for the whole company anymore?

Seasoned_Greetings, w Unity Fallout Continues: Dev Group Shuts Down While Developers Refuse To Come Back

It’s unfortunate to see devs have to abandon and retool their projects because of a really stupid decision some ceos made, but the model they were trying to impose needs to die swiftly and burn bright enough to clearly send the message that that kind of bullshit won’t fly.

Make no mistake, other game engine monetization teams were watching this happen. The only way to stop that kind of extortion is to make an example of the one who tries it first.

I hope unity dies hard, so that we never have to see that stupid ass pay-per-install model again.

chili1553, w Ubisoft just added Denuvo to Assassins Creed Mirage via a day-1 patch a few minutes ago. AFTER all the major reviews went online.

We’re still playing Tower Climbing simulators?

ezures,

Which, the older, the modern, or the far ones?

manapropos, w [Skill Up] I do not recommend: Assassin's Creed Mirage

The last good AC game I can think of was Brotherhood so this review isn’t exactly a surprise

vaultdweller013,

Eh, black flag and rogue were pretty fun.

Globulart,

As was origins honestly. Brotherhood is definitely my favourite and the later games feel more generic than true AC games, but they’re still good fun.

vaultdweller013,

Id even say that unity despite the bad press and how buggy it was is still in the overall good category.

Khrux,

Unity spent a long time being unplayable in an are where that was unforgivable than it is now. I picked it up just before the big patch where they also threw in the first DLC for free as an apology and I ran pretty well on my device, but nobody cared because nobody was playing it.

I feel it also had a pretty lackluster story, I opened strongly but generally but then just became blander as it progressed. I really wanted to like the characters, but they never landed for me.

The last game that I feel had a great plot was black flag, largely because everything since origins has been enormous in scope in a way that’s just directly detrimental to a linear cutscene style story. Also as historical RPGs they’re good but Assassin’s Creed has something really special that has been forgotten, and I was hoping this game would reignite it, but it seems not.

vaultdweller013,

Fair enough, though I do think the overall gameplay of unity was pretty fucken good.

Khrux,

I used to boot it up and just play through that one repeatable painting heist that was optionally 4 player, although I’d do it by myself.

dwokimmortalus,

Origins grew on me as it’s own game, but I hated it as an assassins creed game.

I personally found the next two extremely boring, but I can still replay origin and enjoy it.

manapropos,

I really enjoyed the naval combat of black flag but it takes like 5 hours to get good. And the modern day parts of the game are even more of a slog

GuyFi, w Browser games you have burned a lot of time on?

I’ve played alot of paperclips in classes, it just looks like a random website but it’s a really fun idle clicker thingy it’s at www.decisionproblem.com/paperclips/index2.html

PlzGivHugs,

On the topic of idle games, Cookie Clicker and A Dark Room still hold up well.

50MYT,

Dark room?

PlzGivHugs,

Its a somewhat more story and gameplay focused than Cookie Clicker, but still pretty chill. I won’t say too much more, considering that it’d just spoil the fun of discovery.

Imgonnatrythis,

Thanks you killed my night

GuyFi,

Glad to help man haha

NewNewAccount,

I revisit this every six months or so. It’s so good.
