Been playing a bunch of stuff lately! Still deeply in love with Caves of Qud, a modern (ish, 14y of development) rpg in the classic rogue format. A true rogue like. Beautiful music, cool setting…

I got a steam deck so couch-compatible games like Cobalt Core, Get to Work and Enter the Gungeon.

Besides that, the usual rounds of Tarkov, and some Delta Force to try it out post release

Been back into Satisfactory for the Ficsmas event. Thinking about trying Marvel Rivals later this week. Seems like Overwatch with Marvel characters

No największy minus to edytor.
Technicznie jest parę wtyczek usprawniających.

muhyb, do gaming w Is there any (single player playable) game with $10 which has made you point any go "haha" or given you an equivalent feeling because it was that enjoyable for every moment you played it?

There are a lot actually but the first game that came to my mind after reading this was “Zwei: The Ilvard Insurrection”.

Another one would be “OMORI”. But get ready for an emotional rollercoaster.

Edit: I just remembered the $10 requirement, which OMORI doesn’t meet even when on sale, yet.

rtc,

I see. I’ve recently even seen screenshots of Zwei: An Arges Adventure when a steam user posted them. Emotional rollercoasters are not what I’m looking for but I could check omori regardless, to see for myself.

muhyb,

An Arges Adventure didn’t age well though. Great game but the controls are terrible. The Ilvard Insurrection is at least modern and there is a little connection between these two, so you don’t need to play the first game before this.

rtc,

I enjoy stuff like pressing key combination 6–C–3–2–(A to E)–(1 to 4) to cast a spell to travel to specific areas in overworld, and combinations like C—7—4 to cast, say, a protection spell while in combat on the sorcerer’s turn, in an old school western RPG. The only things I really dislike are slow animations and needless actions which do not affect anything. With this in mind, do you think I’m likely to be troubled by the first one or not?

I can find myself as well by watching some gameplay if you cannot determine it. If you are certain though, it will make things easier—even if I decide to check myself later.

muhyb,

Well, it’s not exactly like that. While the second game is perfect with a controller, the first game cannot be playable with one. At least the PC version. It has some weird mixture of keyboard + mouse controls which is pretty weird for an action RPG game. Definitely not comfortable to play, but it’s playable. I think it’s the best if you try it for yourself, if you already have the game.

Zahille7, do gaming w What order should I play the Halo series in?

The order that they appear in MCC, which is pretty much release order. I would 1000% get the ODST and Reach campaigns as well, as those are top notch too.

CE, 2, 3, ODST, Reach. You can play 4 if you want so you can see how it started going downhill, and it has its moments.

LouNeko, do games w What game surprised you with their length?

XCom2 the content just DOES NOT END.

And MGS Peacewalker. How they cramed so much stuff unto the tiny PSP disk is beyond me. The list of unlockables is insane.

Ist too bad Xcom games are so focused on time limits. I know it meant to add to the tension but its just frustrating to me to non-stop rush everything.

Im familiar with the mod, but its a mod, the game was designed to be played the way you always balancing on a knives edge. So not much time to enjoy the content (for me at least), when you have constantly ticking clocks reminding you to hurry up.

Beyond bored of both sides hijacking games for their identity me so specia outlooks. Get a personally FFS. Oh no she’s a bit hench for a woman. She’s been training and killing monsters most her life. On no people mad because woman in game. literally wgaf Geralt was awesome but the arc has ended for now nice and naturally.

If you read the books you’d be pretty excited about Ciri being the protagonist as in the books she just goes off into the sunset whereas now we get to see her return pick up the mantle and possibly get some new settings in France and England.

dude some even said they made her ugly … she looks like fucking Tricia Helfer!

Stalinwolf,

The ugly comments are fucking hilarious. She’s a perfectly attractive older woman at this point, and quite honestly, if I’m going to be forced to take up her mantle as the player character, I’ll have a much easier time identifying with a hardened older woman as a Witcher than a young adult girl with perpetually running mascara.

I didn’t enjoy playing the Ciri bits at all in TW3, but this version of Ciri is about as palatable as it could have been, and I’m open to it. Especially if I can customize her playstyle like I could Geralt, so that it’s not just fast, whippy, lightning zippy-zappy whatever-the-fuck that was in TW3.

@kratoz29@lemm.ee avatar

Lots of options already shared it so I am just gonna say that I find easier to play older games that I have already played/beaten.

Personal examples:

Super Mario 64 and Toy Story 2.

The huge benefit of older games is that they are just quick and play, no updates no DLCs just fire it up and play, if emulated you even got save states and all those thingys.

This is a dangerous thing to me though, as it discourages me to try out new games, yeah, but after a tiring day I find myself more comfortable getting into these kinds of games than other options.

Funny that you mentioned Vampire Survivors as I was planning to get it for Android haha.

capt_wolf, do games w Do you have any recommendations for casual games?

Voices of the Void has been my go to time waster for a couple years now. Dev is a little weird, but the game is amazingly well done and gets somewhat regular updates that expand the story and add new content. You are essentially a scientist sent to work at a SETI-like site in Switzerland. Your job is to maintain the site and search for signals in space, analyze them, and then ship them out to your colleagues, for which you get paid to buy supplies and other things. As you play, random events occur, some funny, some scary. There’s tons of items to buy and decorate your base with. Lots of locations to discover. Sooooooo many secrets to find. I’m constantly impressed by all the work they’ve done with a very small team.

My only complaint is having to reset my save when an update comes out. It’s generally worth it, as there’s usually new events that you’ll miss otherwise, but having to redecorate the base and lose collectables you’ve spent hours on is a bummer… That and I hate the new drive storage rack. I wish they’d bring back then old one as an additional storage item.

Also, the whole damn game is free.
