jcarax, do gaming w What's the best headset to use for both PC and console right now?

I love my Audeze Maxwell. I use it to listen to music all day while I work, and jump on calls throughout the day. It has excellent sound quality, and a built in mic that works very well. When there’s background noise, I pop in the boom mic and that mic’s noise cancellation is great. It also provides a little better clarity.

There’s both a 2.4ghz wireless dongle (which I plug into my monitor), bluetooth (which I use with my phone using LDAC), USB, and 3.5mm connectivity.

The battery life is excellent. I charge it weekly, and I really don’t need to.

They offer an Xbox and Playstation version. The Xbox version comes with an Atmos license, the Playstation version supports Tempest 3D sound.

The sizing adjustments aren’t great, there’s no telescoping of the ear cups. It just has a sling with three adjustments, by popping it into three different sets of screw holes. It’s ok, but not great, and it’s not the kind of thing you want to move back and forth, say, if you wear hats sometimes, because those holes will wear out. You aren’t supposed to remove the screws.

It’s also closed back, which is not my preference. I don’t have background noise, I don’t care about isolation. I prefer the sound of open backs, and they also provide more spatial awareness if you want to place footsteps.

Also, being closed back, and having a not so great ear pad material, they get fairly toasty. There are third party ear pads that improve upon this, but you can only do so much with a closed back can.

macabrett, do gaming w With the year coming to an end, what was your favorite video game you played this year?

The Talos Principle 2. It’s a game about communism. Play it.

I also really enjoyed Blasphemous 2. Great metroidvania with some gnarly Spanish Catholic art.

Disco Elysium for sure. The story enraptured me and the characters had so much depth

Yeah, enjoyed quite a few games this year, but nothing got into my head quite like DE. I hope so bad that we could expect some kind of follow-up to that masterpiece.

Hundun, do gaming w Would you be interested in a game about energy generation and distribution?

I think this is a fun concept, I would definitely play something like this! I suspect it could be just as fun to build. Game like this could be extended in another direction: I always dreamed of a game that would let me cleverly sabotage a powerplant or delivery network to achieve some other goal, like a heist.

Sibbo,

Sabotage is a fun idea! Would also be cool as an option in multiplayer, where you can break down other people’s power plants this way. And maybe even blow up their nuclear plants?

dinckelman, (edited ) do games w [Steam] Which lesser known games have you bought or are planning to buy in this sale?

Cruelty Squad is very often overlooked because of how it looks, but it’s genuinely one of the best indie games I have ever played

renard_roux, do gaming w If you could gift a videogame to anyone, what would you give to whom? And why?

After finishing The Last Of Us 2, I spent a lot of energy being sad about all the people in my life who don’t play games. They’ll never have that experience, and I found that somewhat upsetting. There’s no other way to live that story, and I wish l could give it to just everyone, and have them actually play and enjoy it.

hightrix, do games w What's up with Epic Games?

Nothing is wrong with it. It is just another games store.

dangblingus, do games w What's up with Epic Games?

Honestly, if their launcher wasn’t so buggy and didn’t refresh itself every 10 seconds, I would use Epic a lot more. They have given out a bunch of great games over the last few years I’m trying to play.

Touhou Mystia’s Izakaya is the only lesser known game. I bought in this sale.

It’s a new release so maybe this doesn’t count but against the storm is excellent

I bought the old homeworld games. I remember really enjoying them way back when, and the third game finally comes out in 24 so I thought I’d give them a play through to catch up. Still good.

Someone mentioned SpaceBourne 2 in another thread the other day, so I checked the reviews which made it sound like a pretty good game and it was on sale so I bought it.

Mechanically, it’s awesome. Polish wise… It needs work. Text-to-speech voice overs (which I hope are placeholders because they are jarring as fuck), kind of a mishmash of aesthetic design that makes me think the assets are merely freebies on the Unreal store, just missing that general pizazz that shows off the quality.

Not that it takes away from the fun, which is the most important part. The best way to even describe the game is “Mount & Blade in space.” It combines some of the best aspects of Elite Dangerous, X3/X4, NMS, and Stellaris into its own thing, and it is super cool to play if not look at (though the crazy set piece things in the MQ are super fucking cool; like being eaten by a space kraken and then escaping in a smaller ship while avoiding thousands of little squiddy things, and they’re actually there not like some BS particle effect or optical illusion).

I already own the game so this is more of a reccomendation.

Civ6 is only £5 right now and all the dlc only costs £20 in the bundle. It’s an easy game to reccomend for anyone who is even a little interested in strategy games.

I‘m thinking about Aragami 2, but my coop mate and I still have a buncha games to chew through tbh. The first game was a blast.

I got Just Cause 3 and the Quake 2 Remaster.

zzzz,

Just Cause 3 is a great one.

Aragami 2 is more coop-friendly than the first game, but not as good overall.
