As most of you know, HL3 is pretty much the most popular “vaporware” game out there. Something always rumored and in development, but never heard again after a certain point....
I picked it up for a little bit during Dragonflight. Mechanically, playing your character is the best its been in years as they got rid of a lot of the restrictive and boring spec building. Everything else is an passable meh.
The community is 1 dungeon or raid wipe from more being toxic than a League match making all endgame content not fun. Feels like they started going in the right direction, but I had this hope crushed too many times.
Being a social game you can't solo, the community actually makes it impossible for me to progress. I don't know if I even want to go back if they get everything else perfect. It just feels lonely and unwelcoming.
Knowing how blizzard managed to ruin every other franchise they own, I can see the reaper at WoWs door as soon as the money gets tight again. I was holding out hope Microsoft would have saved them from themselves but seems there happy to milk wow subs till they drive everyone out.
There hasn’t been a lot of good news out of EA lately, but here’s some: the company just launched a bunch of classic games on Steam. The new (old) releases include nine games in total, spanning franchises like Dungeon Keeper, Populous, and SimCity....
Steam takes a 30% cut of the profit last I read. EA tried to avoid this with Orgin to not pay that 30%. I assume Steam sales have to be pretty good VS Orgin numbers keep using Steam.
People hate using extra launchers, and EA has a reputation of being comic book villain evil. I assume any tiny bits of good will they get from customers is rare and this is low hanging fruit. People also love Steam to the point of not buying a game without it. The 30% cut probably seemed worth the trade for the wriggling masses running EA.
Outside of Wow, I never found a AAA game that can hold my attention past 100 hours, hell 40 is a strech. Its almost never worth it at full price let alone 70.
I have a handful of $30 1000+ hour indy games I may be playing 20 years from now.
Got a few hours in last night, quite fun and it very much is pokemon with guns, but at-least rather original for half the designs. So far its base building/exploration while training up legally distinct monsters, doing what everyone would ACTUALLY want to do in a pokemon game that gave you a weapon.
This question popped into my head when I was playing Void Stranger. I just got done with the game and will probably never play it again despite not finishing it. The game is genuinely amazing but it just gets so demanding as you progress through it. I ended up watching the second half of the game on YouTube....

I lost over 1000 hours on it alone. Currently doing a train world with crazy high resource cost. 100 hours on this one and I just started manufacturing blue science. I'm going to get my ass fired at some point.
Oxygen Not Included is on sale this weekend. If (like me) you happen to have wanted to play it for a long time, but were worried you lack the patience/stamina and give up after a couple of hours, the price is now at a level where buyer’s regret is rather unlikely.
