Semjaza, do games w Real-Time Strategy is incredible and you should play it

An actual rush is a very all in strategy, just don’t fall too far behind on making combat units and you’ll be fine.

Its as true in AoE2 as it is in Starcraft(pick one).

Great fun games, tickle me in a different way to slower, absolutely no rush, 4X games.

I’m not disagreeing, although I will say that as I have aged, I started to prefer either of:

  • Turn-based
  • Real-time-with-pause (granted, this is mostly RPGs)
  • Pre-submitted concurrent turns (ala Frozen Synapse)

I don’t know. I just no longer find the extra stress from the real-time element engaging. I used to love it, but preferences shift of course, and now I prefer the relaxation of taking my own time to figure out what I want to do, then checking whether I “solved the puzzle”, basically.

@mesamunefire What are y'all going to buy in this sale? I'm thinking Space Tyrant, to satisfy my itch for a more laid back 4X focused on combat; the Metal Gear Solid master collections; and maybe some indie games below 15 bucks

caut_R,

Unravel 2 and Styx Shardssomething, a friend and I need more coop games.

(Any suggestions are welcome, we might‘ve played a lot of them already though)

mosiacmango,

Planet crafter is supposed to have solid multiplayer if you like satisfactory style build/resource games.

Playing through planet Crafter right now with a friend and it’s awesome and co-op

Donjuanme,

Comparing the games in this video and my wish list, planet crafter apparently!

Pheta,

I'm looking at picking up the Kingdom Heats bundle, since it recently came to steam, I'm not sure of what else though.

Woot woot! Hopefully going to pick up Balatro on sale this weekend.

caut_R,

Fantastic game. As an achievement hunter I shake my head a bit at the gold chip on all jokers thing, but for now I just see it as another excuse to play it more. I still feel like I‘m shit at the game though around 40 hours in.

delitomatoes,

At the higher levels you realise the randomness is too much, not sure if they updated the starting rounds to have more player choice

Donjuanme, do games w Steam Summer Sale 2024: Official Trailer

I’m here for it, my wishlist is approaching 100 games. My unplayed list is approaching a thousand though…

GammaGames, do gaming w MODERN WARFARE: How Call of Duty 4 Changed a Genre Forever (Documentary by Ahoy)

Watched it last night, great video! I’d forgotten about IW’s tumultuous start

apprehensively_human, do gaming w MODERN WARFARE: How Call of Duty 4 Changed a Genre Forever (Documentary by Ahoy)

This video made me reinstall cod4 and give the single player another try after all these years.

I don’t think it really holds up very well, even though I have some nostalgia for it.

CaptDust, do games w Planet Coaster 2 : Announcement Trailer

Ooo this looks exciting. I still wish planet coaster had park management more in line with RCT, but the addition of waterpark rides is tempting.

MarcomachtKuchen,

I’m completely on the contrary. I’ve played part one for around 500h and and only in sandbox. That said I’ve heard good things about the management of planet zoo, so hopefully your management desires can also be fulfilled.

CaptDust,

Planet coaster is definitely the best for sandbox and customizing things. If you want to build a beautiful park and themed rides there’s nothing like it. Meanwhile Parkitect scratches the management/business side itch, I just need these devs to get together and combine their strengths haha.

I didn’t play any planet zoo, that’s promising to hear maybe we’ll get some improvements with this too.

MarcomachtKuchen,

Take my compliment with a grain of salt since I think a lot of the management included caring for the animal needs which is something that’s completely gone in planet coaster. But at least the steam page mentions more needs of guest like shade from the sun or lifeguards near pools.

CosmoNova, do games w Planet Coaster 2 : Announcement Trailer

I remember being very excited for the first one just to find it a little lackluster in the end and too cluttered with DLCs. Since then Frontier really has made a name for themselves as Paradox‘s little brother that litters their game with DLCs. Even as a fan of park sims, I‘ll pass on this one right away.

MarcomachtKuchen,

Completely valid arguments but I feels like the first game developed really nice after release. IMO they made some great changes on demand of the community namely letting us place scenery on rides, the addition of custom support parts and more management options. Also ending the game with the thememakers tooltik was a really nice move to let the community run wild.

But I’m also a little scared since the steam page mentions just 4 themes (and the generic theme) and I’m fearing that they took some out to sell them as a dlc from day 1. I’m optimistic but caution is definitly well advised.

All I’ve ever heard about planet coaster is that it’s an unfinished mess that got half-finished with hundreds of dollars of dlc, so hearing another is in the works is kind of like…

Maybe finish your first helping before getting another slice of pizza?

Man, I really want to play some elite dangerous, now…

MarcomachtKuchen,

That’s just not true. The game sits at 91% positive reviews on steam and has a meta critic of 84.

I get how the scenery heavy aspect might not be every management enjoyers Cup of tea, but the it’s a well received game.

CaptDust,

Ehhh. the game is coming up on 8 years, it’s definitely time for engine upgrades. Also the majority of DLC is themed packs (ghostbusters, back to the future and the like) with scenery, a single ride, and a single coaster. I wouldn’t consider it half-finished.

geelgroenebroccoli,

Planet Coaster 1 certainly wasn’t half-finished. The developers actively listened to the community and constantly made free improvements for years after release.

Sure, it has lots of DLC packs, but none of them are in any way essential.

son_named_bort, do games w Planet Coaster 2 : Announcement Trailer

Hopefully they have a better path management system. Creating paths in Planet Coaster was confusing and tedious.
