moipe, do games w Dragon's Dogma 2 joins the Capcom lineup at TGS2023!

Awww yeaaaa. They are going to say “its done! You don’t have to wait years. You can play it right now.” And I will be so happy.

It seems Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is also selling well. Indie scene seems to be thriving despite the onslaught of AAA games.

Some of these games, like Starfield, cost an absolute fortune ($120 AUD where I live on Steam). I’m simply not going to pay that much for a game but will happily pick up something like Sea of Stars for less than half the price.

    That’s not how exchange rates work.

    Pinball and Gotham Knights, impressive.

    I don’t trust like that.

    Wow and that’s with it being released on Gamepass and PS+ I believe . Great to see such numbers for such a game where you can see the passion from the developers

    jellyfishjelly, do games w Sea of Stars sold 100,000 copies on day one

    To think it’s also on PS Plus (and I think Game Pass?). Well-deserved though, it’s a great game so far! Big Chrono Trigger vibes, which I just finished a few months ago so it’s cool to have some more old school JRPG stuff to play.

    Although I’m super tempted to get it on Switch despite having 2 hours on PS5. It’s the perfect game to play in bed

    Beelzebob,

    It is on gamepass. I started playing last night. So far, it’s a win.

    GroteStreet,

    Welp, looks like I know what I’m doing while waiting for Starfield.

    Beelzebob,

    Same, basically.

    dgbbad,

    Same. It’s no Chained Echoes, but I’m still early, so maybe it takes off after a bit. I’m enjoying it a lot either way.

    Gerudo,

    I just finished Chained Echoes, really surprised at the quality. I’m hoping Stars at the very least equals it.

    bungle_in_the_jungle,

    I can play it for free through both GamePass and PS+ and yet I still bought it on Steam.

    Suffice it to say the Steam Deck has changed how I consume certain games.

    I thought this would be viable through Game Pass Cloud streaming. Bummer if it isn’t since Moonlight can’t find games installed on Game Pass on my pc. Might have to settle for a payment though Steam as well, then :)

    learningduck,

    But you could still use your phone to remote play to your PC or XBox isn’t it?

    You could even add a non Steam game to make it usable with Steam Link.

    hogart,
    @hogart@feddit.nu avatar

    You can just play it with Game Pass Cloud streaming. There are no issues with this game specifically.

    Generally though, as far as I know, you can’t add games installed locally by Game Pass as a non Steam Game. They aren’t installed in the traditional sense. No .exe, for example.

    learningduck,

    Thank you for clarification. I thought that they can work together.

    jellyfishjelly,

    I feel you. I do have a Retroid Pocket though, I might try PS remote play first

    hogart,
    @hogart@feddit.nu avatar

    Works great on my Steam Deck through Game Pass.

    Thassodar,

    If you like old school, but new, games I have to recommend Octopath Traveller 2. I started it 3 days ago and already have 30 hours with no signs of slowing down.

    jellyfishjelly,

    Nice! How long is that game? Been hearing a lot of great things about it so I’ll have to give it a spin sometime.

    Thassodar,

    Average playtime without side quests I’ve seen about 60 hours. I’m at 40, there’s 8 characters, and I’ve only been focusing on 4 of them. My playtime may be off, though, because there were a few times I left it paused for a few hours.

    mesamunefire,

    Steam deck for me but yeah looks like a great game.

    learningduck,

    How about whatever PS5 remote play on your phone?

    remote play on a phone while using a gamepad is a viable option if you don’t want to buy it on Switch.

    Yayay! The game has run smoothly, mostly. But every few hours my GF and I restart our LAN to fix some stuttering. Also had some FPS issues with super large battles, but the game is SO DANG GUD that we don't even consider those speedbumps. Easily the best triple A in a long while.

    Hopefully this one doesn’t break my save. I am using mods to be fair

    koreth, do games w Larian Studios: [Baldur's Gate 3] patch 2 is right around the corner, features major performance improvements.

    I haven’t run into too many bugs in the game, but in combat it’s frequent for the game to have to sit there for several seconds thinking about what an enemy should do next. Hope that’s one of the performance improvements they’re working on.

    Bearigator,

    I’m hoping they fix it so it will actually use all my power. Both my graphics card and processor sit at ~50% usage and low temp, while I drop frames when locked at 30fps. I’m still in act 1 but as it is now, I am concerned about when I reach act 3, since they say that is much harder on performance.

    Itsamelemmy,

    I went from pretty much a locked 60 to mid 20’s in act 3. 5900x 2080S and 32G ram with a nvme ssd. Put BG on pause for a few days while armored core kicks my ass. Hopefully the patch improves performance quite a bit. I don’t think I’m maxing out cpu or GPU either but haven’t really been monitoring it.

    ono, (edited ) do games w Larian Studios: [Baldur's Gate 3] patch 2 is right around the corner, features major performance improvements.

    Thank goodness.

    With graphics hardware at the low end of the requirements (which are high for an RPG) the game struggles to maintain 30fps at 1080p, often failing even with the expensive settings turned down. The simplest outdoor scenes often send the GPU fans into hyperdrive unless FPS is capped below 40. Quicksaving sometimes drops FPS to 10ish until another save or reload. And that’s just in Act 1.

    Major performance improvements will be very welcome.

    GeekFTW,
    @GeekFTW@kbin.social avatar

    Yeah I run on a boiled potato so any improvements will help.

    “which are high for an RPG”…?

    ono,

    That’s right. The RX 480/580 is no slouch. Lesser GPUs are generally plenty for an RPG of this kind at minimum graphics settings.

    aJazzyFeel,

    at least we’ll save on heating costs this winter, with our pcs on hyper overdrive mode whenever we are looking for Balsam.

    @BertramDitore@lemmy.world avatar

    Gooood. I honestly had to stop playing for a bit, everything started breaking once I got past Act 1. I feel like many of the decisions I made, which seemed normal at the time, broke the story’s continuity and interactions. I reached NPCs before I was supposed to, explored side quest locations before I knew there were quests there (fuck you and your parents, Oliver…), fast traveled when I shouldn’t have, etc. etc.

    And don’t get me started on Halsin…

    jman269n,

    I had a thing where I knocked out a quest important character and everyone started talking as if he was dead

    BertramDitore,
    @BertramDitore@lemmy.world avatar

    Yeah, I’m seeing stuff like that. I fast traveled at some point, and my journal immediately updated to tell me that Halsin had left for good and would no longer help me. But he was still chillin at camp…and that wasn’t the first or only problem I had with him.

    I might just start a fresh save after this patch drops.

    Anamnesis,

    The knock out mechanic is frustrating because the game treats them as dead for most situations. It really should be reworked.

    Zoomboingding,
    @Zoomboingding@lemmy.world avatar

    Yup, failed a quest twice because we couldn’t help up a KO’d NPC. Healing, splashing water, pushing, long rest, nothing would get them up. In fact, they DIED after doing a long rest, when the condition says it’s cured by it.

    reversebananimals, do games w Larian Studios: [Baldur's Gate 3] patch 2 is right around the corner, features major performance improvements.

    Nice! I love this game but have been having issues with performance. I have a 3070 GTX and regularly see my GPU hitting temps of 80-85°C at High settings at 144hz 1440p.

    Really looking forward to this patch, I hope it helps!
