Judging by how Starfield turned out, will missing either of those games (which are almost certainly going to be using the same incredibly outdated engine) be much of a loss?
The engine really isn’t suited for the kind of game Starfield wants to be, so it really works against it. But you’re right, even if it were a new shiny engine with the same writing and characters, it would still suck. Likewise, if it had the same creaky engine but actual good stories and characters the constant loading would be easier to overlook. It just has the worst of both worlds.
I’ve been stuck on the DLC for a long time now, not because of difficulty, but because I just don’t find it very interesting. Hoping to force my way through it one of these days.
I got it for free in 2021 when they were doing the Play at Home initiative. Unfortunately, I’ve never liked it. I hate having to be sneaky and use ranged for combat. I just wanna run up and hit stuff with my stick.

I was a prime demographic for Star Wars Outlaws, as I like Star Wars and the more recent RPG style Assassin’s Creeds. I chose to skip it after the initial impressions, and I’m glad I did. Nice to see that enough other people did the same to make a difference. I’m down for more of the same with a Japanese skin, so hopefully they won’t manage to mess this one up to the point that I won’t enjoy it.
Which makes more sense than you’d think, since Link’s Awakening takes place in a world dreamed by the Wind Fish and Wart was from Subcon, a land of dreams.
I hate hard games nowadays, but when I was a kid I had a high tolerance for them because that’s pretty much all there was. I have a fondness for the Ghosts 'n Goblins series because it was part of my childhood, but I wouldn’t give it the time of day if they came out now.
My brother and I played the game so much we were able to beat that stage co-op. It gets much worse later. I learned not that long ago that the reason we were never able to beat it co-op is there’s a bug that prevents the 11th stage from being beatable with two players.
Ah, I see what you’re saying. Yeah, I agree, their implementation is weird, but I like it that way since there’s less temptation. As you said, I never felt like I was missing out on anything by not buying any of the MTX.
I imagine they’ll make money from the kinds of people who absolutely must have the latest and greatest available tech for everything. Personally, I wouldn’t bother even if money weren’t an issue.
There’s always a market for people who want the latest and greatest thing, so they’ll make money off of it, but since most people will have the base model (even more than those who stuck with a base PS4, I imagine), all games will be designed with that in mind.
My newer PS5 controller suddenly started refusing to charge when plugged into a USB - the PS5 gave a warning that the charge was too high and it made my PC’s USB slots stop working for a bit after plugging it in. Glad they made that alternate way of charging at the bottom, as I got a charge stand and it worked.
I’ve actually enjoyed the recent “Witcher 3” AC games and was hoping this would be kinda like that with a Star Wars skin, but the bigger emphasis on stealth makes it seem like it isn’t. Good thing I have AC Shadows to look forward to!
I hate stealth games and didn’t like the AC series until Origins started the “Witcher 3 wannabe” style of AC games. All 3 of the ones released so far (Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla) have been like crack for me - I can’t stop playing them until I’ve been to every icon on the map. If you like open world action RPGs and Ancient Egypt, you’ll probably like it. If you prefer stealth like the older AC games, though, you might not.
I put the Saturn SotN (English translation) on my hacked switch via the Saturn emulator used for Cotton, since I’d never played that version. I don’t usually replay games start to finish, but I must have done so with SotN around 7 times by now. Meanwhile, I don’t think I’ve ever beaten any of the other 6 Igavanias.
Been wanting this for a long time. DS games are trickier to emulate well than single screen ones, making this collection of old games more worth it than usual.
