If the studios didn’t get sold to the larger entities, said large entities couldn’t had closed them. Why is no one talking about the topic of game studios being sold out to begin with?...
Making game is extremely risky gamble. Sometime studio can spend years working on one game and it might result in subpar sales due to element that’s not in their control, like Spec Ops: The Line. Take Obsidian Entertainment for example, over the year we kept hearing how they’re financially struggling despite created some of the best RPG, and Microsoft acquisition suppose to free them from this issue to some degree. Same with Tango Gameswork. Zenimax and to some extend Mojang is different case though.
Lot of game studio open and close, if Tango doesn’t sold to Bethesda and in turn to Microsoft, it might already closed. Though on the flip side it also mean they’re at the mercy of their parent company, it still undeniable that Microsoft is the one killed them in this case.
They did said “80 years or so” and “around 80 years”, maybe they did their calculation and predicted that this year is likely the time that it happen. They did give a huge margin of when it will happen though.
Tech company, they love E-Waste. Your thing can still play fine? Fuck you, buy our new shit that have all those privacy invasive tracker loaded into it, and let us snoop around so we can share your info with other tech company.
I love the first one, janky stuff but mostly great, so when i heard this game is being made, i was ecstatic about it until i learned the game is $70 with no localised price, at that moment i’m guessing the greedy capcom is really back, because their game used to be fairly priced up until MHW. And then this happened.
When Minecraft came out, it was hard to understand, not that good looking and only really catered to nerd gamers. There was no recipe book, no cute animals, no lush caves to explore, just an unforgiving Day-Night cycle and few, very creepy caves....
I’m jonesing for these tower defense games. The first edition was released by Robot Entertainment in 2011, Orcs Must Die 2 came out in 2012, OMD Unchained (online multi-player) was from 2014 and OMD 3 was from 2020/2021. They’re all great fun and I am sad that we may never get an OMD 4. Game 1 was single-player, 2 and 3 had...
Ohh, never know there’s omd3, only heard about unchained being f2p and lost interest with the franchise from then on. Might give omd3 a try in the future, omd1/2 is great fun
I recently played Alien Isolation, and I noticed all of the “hacking” she does on doors and computers are different types of games, like press the button at the right time, or match the images within a timer, etc....
I remember spending so much time playing Farkle in Kingdom Come Deliverance, betting my money on every game. I think Witcher 1 or 2 have similar dice game that i also very into it, played with every NPC possible whenever i have the chance.
I like how starting from Fallout 4 you can just loot without opening the loot ui, so you can still see it being empty and open the loot ui and be disappointed it’s empty.
I have no side to take, but it’s sorta hilarious seeing people saying the award mean nothing when it’s starfield that win it, and on the other hand congratulate Baldur’s Gate for winning another GOTY. Truly the Schrodinger Award.
Well tbf as well, innovative is as subjective as game of the year, what seems to be innovative to some might not be one for another. It’s hard to define “innovation” because it’s simply a process of putting in change on an established thing. Try google “innovative product of (year)” and you might see a tons of “isn’t it just x but y” product.
In my case i haven’t played Starfield nor Baldur’s Gate 3 so i wouldn’t know whether they deserve the award or not, if people think it does, hey, more power to them. Steam Award is a popularity contest voted by people anyway, taking it seriously is missing the point.
Personally, apparently 71% of my gaming time was spent on FFXIV. Although in my defense, most games I’ve played this year were on GOG or old free stuff from Epic I finally got around to.
While Take-Two is riding high on their announcement that a GTA 6 trailer is coming, its CEO has some…interesting ideas on how much video games could cost, part of a contingent of executives that believe games are underpriced, given their cost, length or some combination of the two.
The healer is constantly respawning and there will be a huge crowd you have to fight through and the tall one will occasionally cast spell that will instant kill you when it fill up the status bar.
I’m the firm believer of piracy is a service issue. Lot of time that piracy is rampant, it’s almost always due to accessibility issue, mainly cost in country with weaker currency. A $60 game will cost me about 15 days of food, that’s inaccessible for a lot of people in my country and frankly hard to justify, and if there’s not even an option for localisation of the price, whether people pirate or not, they basically leaving money on the table.
Steam used to be cool because everyone follow the sane pricing suggestion, but nowadays publisher decided to earn less money by charging more for their mediocre game, and then blame piracy for the lackluster earning.
I don’t pirate myself, i have very less time to game nowadays, but i don’t think piracy is an ass move, especially when cracked version run better than paid version due to stupid drm.
First or third person, preferably 3D. No post-apocalyptic games unless it’s a post-apocalyptic scenario in nature. Also it must have a singleplayer mode. Does anyone know any games like this?
99.999999% they gonna get external dev to remaster it so the art direction will be incoherent and jarring, 0.000001% they get modder that does all the cool texture/shader mod onto the team.
Yeah i’m with the other guy. On one hand lemmy need content, so talking about the lastest exciting thing makes sense, on the other hand there’s that dude whining about content they don’t like to see instead of keep scrolling.
Did you ask the same question when Witcher 3, Legend Of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, etc etc the same question?
It’s sort of dishonest when Starfield get this sort of treatment when metacritic score has been inflated for ages, no thanks to both gamer, journalist, and publisher.
Demo is kinda punishing, the first boss is very spongy yet have crazy move that doesn’t really fitting for a first boss. It’s like fighting Champion Gundyr as the first boss in DS3.

Had a few day just doing my other hobby and feels like not wanting to continue where i left off in Project Zomboid, so i downloaded My Time At Portia that i got from Epic for free. So far it feels like MMO where a lot of crafting is behind timer and the majority of the game is having you craft this gather that, and the interface is all very MMO-ey and they did not try to hide it, but i love it! Perfect game for a long day of work where i just want to shut off and enjoy instead of stressing from the intensity of playing video games.
I thought i would drop it quick because it’s a free game, as i drop remnant from the ashes and sonic mania pretty quickly, and i got both for free as well.
