dan1101,

Starfield has a lot of good aspects, but also some bone-headed gameplay and content decisions. I had a lot of fun with it for a few weeks and will come back to it if/when it gets to a better state.

dan1101,

A Star Wars game that is a mix of Minecraft, Elite Dangerous, and X4. Elite Dangerous flight model and galaxy. X4 fleet management and modability. Minecraft type planets but with buildable vehicles. And a dynamic event, economy, and faction system. A big galaxy size sandbox with 4X elements.

dan1101,

I subscribed to Game Pass for a year or so. It was a good value but it got to the point where there were just too many games and not enough time to play them. I kept subscribing for the $1 per month trick, but once that ended I canceled.

When Manor Lords came out in early access I found a good deal for a month of Game Pass, that just expired.

dan1101,

I like the idea of these games but the execution was way way more complicated than it needed to be.

dan1101,

Yeah did someone just run or interpret reports incorrectly? If a person subscribes to Game Pass and plays Hi Fi Rush for X months, I’d consider that a sale.

dan1101,

Just the fact that they played some minimum amount should tell them the game contributed to the subscriber’s enjoyment of Game Pass. Otherwise if they are both selling a game and giving it to Game Pass subscribers for free I’m not sure what they are expecting. Can’t have your cake and eat it too, but I’m sure they would like that.

Maybe they are hoping that Game Pass is like extended demos and will lead to more game sales. But there are too many new games all the time for most to hold my interest.

dan1101,

Absolutely agree, just recently instead of buying Manor Lords I just found a good deal on a month of Game Pass. I played it as much as I wanted (for now) for less than $10.

dan1101,

What does a PSN account involve? Just an email and password, maybe a handle/nickname?

I assume it needs no credit card or payment.

If all that is true a PSN account is annoying but doesn’t seem so bad.

dan1101,

If all that is required is an email address and password I could live with giving Sony a special email address and unique password, I don’t see where I have a privacy or security risk there. Annoying, but it’s a lot better than another launcher or something. ETA: It asks for birthdate, definitely don’t give them your real birthdate but give them something close. I have a standard fake that I use.

dan1101,

I would definitely be annoyed but have had to create an account for other games too. Give them an email that isn’t your primary email and a unique password, I don’t see where there is any risk after that.

dan1101,

They might verify the email. But if you’re that worried about Sony having your email you can just make a unique one for them. You don’t have to give them your primary email.

dan1101,

Check out Easy Red 2, it’s like old-school Battlefield 1942, has good bots, and there can be up to 100 in a match I believe. On sale on Steam right now.

dan1101,

I haven’t played the new one but the graphics are a huge upgrade. The player shooter thing in the original 2600 version is a plain rectangle.

dan1101,

You can grow without being hostile and negative. Start your own studios, make innovative games, compete with quality not acquisitions.

dan1101,

I know a kid that is really into multiplayer Minecraft on Xbox and he is always after his parents for more Xbox cards so he can buy different skins and texture packs. Servers like Cubecraft and The Hive must be making a lot of money.

dan1101,

This gives me hope that all gamers won’t just roll over and take it. But Capcom could react in different ways, they could do better or they could just quit releasing games on Steam. Wonder if they have already asked if Steam could disable reviews for them?

dan1101,

Good point, also there are more PC games and they are usually cheaper.

dan1101,

The court rulings better cover every way Apple could avoid compliance.

dan1101,

I think realtime LLM in games will happen, and I like this approach of having it run locally. Not sure why you got the port warning though.

dan1101,

It sounds like all I need to do is to continue to ignore this list I just heard of, and judge each game by its own merits.

dan1101,

This could do a lot of harm to Steam, they need to get ahead of this quickly.

dan1101,

Fucking EA. Let’s hope the Ubisoft one is good. And gets finished.

Borderlands players - what is your opinion about the new movie trailer? (piped.kavin.rocks) angielski

Apologies that this is not a pure gaming question, but I’d really like to hear people’s opinion on the Borderlands movie trailer and especially from people who have played the games. That’s why I’m asking here, I hope that’s ok.

dan1101,

It looks surprisingly not bad but still the sort of movie like Fast and Furious where you just have to turn your brain off.

dan1101,

They really are. I just shoot and loot while talking heads blabber away in the upper corner of the screen.

dan1101,

Same. This seems to be getting more common with various media and products. Too many choices which is a good thing for consumers but not good for publishers.

dan1101,

I wonder what percentage stake that will give them. Tencent owns 40% of Epic.

dan1101,

Pacific Drive had one of the most atmospheric intros I’ve seen since Half Life. It loses a little once you start scavenging and crafting and get your HUD, but still a unique game. Like a cross between My Summer Car and STALKER.

dan1101,

That wasn’t clear to me either, I will try it again.

dan1101,

I had a game watch around 5th grade. It was LCD and had a tiny little joystick at the bottom of the screen. It would play imitations of games like Pac Man and Space Invaders. Apparently I wasn’t ghosty enough because it got confiscated pretty quickly.

Seeking: Kid-friendly Adventure/Exploration Games (PC)

My daughter (4) is very into exploring cities, homes and villages in Skyrim, feeding aliens in No Man’s Sky, and cleaning houses in House Flipper. She gets annoyed in games like House Flipper because she can’t leave the property to explore all of the visible houses on the block. I’d like to find other PC games that are...

dan1101,

Minecraft, if you play online and enter a server like Cubecraft the default lobby is very kid friendly and has a large interesting map to explore. And of course the game itself has tons of single player content and you can build your own stuff in survival or creative modes.

Try Grand Theft Auto 5 and see what you think. If you don’t actually do any missions it’s really a very nice and alive world to explore. The pedestrians make some rude comments though.

Also Arma 3, the base map is a sandbox of a real life island with most buildings enterable, and no people or traffic or anything offensive by default. You can enter the editor, place a civilian player and some vehicles, and explore the island completely peacefully. There are also lots of mod maps some are very good.

If only driving around is acceptable then the Forza Horiizon games are great for driving around.

dan1101,

I don’t know, I used to let my young niece play GTA 4 at least, supervised the whole time of course. The rule was you could drive around until you crashed or hit someone, then we switched players. Generally there is no trouble unless you make trouble. The pedestrians can make rude comments but having the volume low solves most of that.

dan1101,

You don’t have to do any of that, but just walking around you will get attacked by all manner of creatures so I would take Witcher 3 off the list on that basis.

dan1101,

Real men played TIE Fighter where your ship didn’t even have shields to begin with.

dan1101,

It’s not the point of the article but from day one Netflix streaming never had close to everything I wanted. They just had enough that there was usually something I could settle for after I didn’t find what I was really trying to watch.

dan1101,

Jumping around, Arma 3 with Antistasi mod, Saints Row, Dragon’s Dogma, Grim Dawn coop, and just bought Void Destroyer 2 for a very low price.

dan1101,

They are a great idea as long as they are optional and hopefully clear about what the settings do.

dan1101,

Another game on my want to play list that I would have paid like $8 for but now it’s free. Cool.

dan1101,

I love that game, great for a short or long chill session.

dan1101,

I think Grim Dawn. Seems like it would be a nice medium between a spastic first person shooter and the slower pace of Divinity Original Sin.

dan1101,

That free giveaway Desolate co-op. It’s like STALKER-lite mixed with Generation Zero.

A neat little early access open world action RPG called The Bloodline.

Starfield a bit, working on getting a Voyager III.

Vampire Survivors when I just want something simple to play.

Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze on Switch.

dan1101,

How long can they keep giving away free games when their store has never made a profit?

dan1101,

Ok well people spend money on Fortnite and we get free games, that’s a good deal.

dan1101,

Nice review and recap. I never finished Homefront but I bought and finished Homefront The Revolution this year. It was a pretty good time, it tried to be more of a sandbox.

dan1101,

Game is basically Far Cry in a city.

I believe I remember thinking that while playing. But I like Far Cry games. And I paid $4 for it, that didn’t hurt.

dan1101,

It was so great to have those options. Games could do that now but most don’t.
