dan1101,

Bagging seems like it should be a valid strategy, let yourself go to the back of the pack to get better items, but run the risk of not being able to catch up.

dan1101,

It uses a lot of my RAM. I love Steam but it needs some optimization.

Here's what a random person on the internet thought of Frontlines: Fuel Of War (lemmy.world) angielski

Frontlines: Fuel Of War is a 2008 game that combines the premise of Battlefield gameplay with the then futuristic aesthetic games like Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter. I played through its entire campaign, on normal difficulty to see if it was worth revisiting....

dan1101,

Nice write up. For some reason I thought this was a RTS game. Sounds like a decently fun shooter.

dan1101,

A technical error doesn’t result in popup ads. The code had to already be there.

dan1101,

Last game I finished was Days Gone and it was great. Nice open world zombie shooter in the US state of Oregon. Great map, great characters, decent plot, good action. Very cinematic at times. After the 10+ minutes of cinematic closing credits you can actually start roaming again and there is some more story after the credits.

dan1101,

Arma 3 with mods, so much mission variety. Everything from straight-up milsim to zombies to capture-the-island playground.

dan1101,

Yes you can pay that. But $300 gets you a very functional card. And you can upgrade your PC in increments.

dan1101,

That’s cool but I don’t think the gameplay and level design will hold up very well to today’s standards. This was basically a Doom 1 type game, but with jumping and maybe full 3D? Or was it 2.5D like Doom where you couldn’t have floors over floors?

dan1101,

I used to be pretty decent with the arrow keys, but once full 3D games like Quake 2 started being standard I had to switch to mouse. I remember I switched to mouse and arrow keys for a long time, then finally went WASD.

dan1101,

Starfield, The Crew Motorfest, and Empyrion.

dan1101,

Maybe that wasn’t the best choice of names.

dan1101,

Wildlands is still a great game. It is set in 2019 Bolivia, you work to take down cartels one region at a time. It’s fun both singleplayer and co-op for up to 4 players.

Breakpoint is set on some semi-futuristic Elon Musk type fantasy technology island with drones driving and flying around. The map itself is large and varied, it seems like a South Pacific type environment. Breakpoint initially did a lot of things worse than Wildlands, such as not having AI squadmates and needing to level up your weapons. But since then the game has been updated with a lot of options to fix almost everything, and even add a lot more content. It’s a lot to get used to but ultimately still a lot of fun.

But first play Wildlands, it is fun right away, and more realistic overall.

dan1101,

Exactly. My ideal game would be a mix of Elite Dangerous, X4 Foundations, and Starfield. ED has the galaxy map, flight model, and combat down. It just needs to be more of a game.

dan1101,

I never thought of that, but it would be so much fun.

dan1101,

39% wow. Yeah lots of free games and Humble Bundles.

dan1101,

Is what any good? Humble Bundle? I don’t know, I quit buying them years ago because I didn’t play enough. Same thing with PC Game Pass.

dan1101,

I just wishlist games on Steam and Isthereanydeal.com and wait for sales. In the long run often games will be given away for free before I buy them.

dan1101, (edited )

It’s atmospheric and good, but player choice during many missions is lacking. Choices often boil down to “Yes” or “Not yet.” But you’ll go the way the mission wants you to go or you won’t finish it.

dan1101,

I’ve had 130 hours of fun, still tons to do, and have no idea what temples are. I think I already got my money’s worth.

If temples are needlessly tedious I wouldn’t hesitate to mod them out.

dan1101,

I played hundreds of hours of Elite Dangerous, Starfield is crowded by comparison. The universe is mostly empty and I don’t mind that in a game.

dan1101,

I’m looking forward to the first big update, and the update that officially supports modding, although that is supposed to be next year.

dan1101,

Anybody wanna speculate on how soon they will weasel out of their promise to keep releasing COD on Playstation?

dan1101,

I’m all for hardcore as long as you can figure out what the affliction is and how to avoid/cure it.

dan1101,

I believe it’s Tab on the PC, in the upper right it will actually say what the symbols mean. But even though I carry around helmets/clothes/spacesuits with high ratings for each thing and wear appropriate things I still seem to get warnings when I go outside. I’m not sure if it’s actually affecting me or just a general warning that the hazard exists.

dan1101,

I like them both in different ways. Overall I’d have to say Days Gone though, the game world is so nicely done.

dan1101,

Valve releasing a video on how to break down the Steam Deck was one of the best things I’ve seen from a large company in a long time.

dan1101,

He seems nice and is probably a gamer. But if Microsoft doesn’t profit enough on games I believe all the niceness will quickly disappear.

dan1101,

Inverted Y, I played a lot of flight sims like Wing Commander and Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe in my youth. I can’t play with normal Y, it constantly messes me up.

dan1101, (edited )

It’s weird how much people’s experience varied. There are enough people saying it was very broken and enough that say it was fine that I believe both groups. Hopefully someone figures out what it is about people’s machines, play styles, or something else that gave such different experiences.

I waited until early this year to play and it was an awesome experience.

whats your unconcious sign that you really really like the game you are playing angielski

So i just noticed that when i really like the game at some point i will at once play the game and watch the stream/youtube wideo of the game( usualy speedrun or aome hardcore challenge). I noticed it recently with anno 1800 but now that i think about it i did that with tales of arise, eu4 ,kings bounty, total war, hades and...

dan1101, (edited )

When I’m researching things about the game even when I’m not playing.

Starfield is definitely doing that for me. Before that Distant Worlds 2, X4 Foundations, Elite Dangerous, Skyrim, Space Engineers, Empyrion, GTA V, and Minecraft have all done that.

dan1101,

First thing I’ve heard about it and…pass

dan1101,

I think that 25% would be comprised of people that bought the game and haven’t had much time to play, or use console command right away and disable achievements. Speedrunners, modmakers, and general hackers would use console commands liberally as they should be the same as Fallout/Elder Scrolls games.

dan1101, (edited )

I need to finish that some day. I loved it at first, in fact I still love the gameplay and map. But the storylines just didn’t grab me. Michael is a dick with an asshole family, Franklin is a good dude but a dumbass, and Trevor well anyone who does business with him should not expect good results.

dan1101,

Bethesda didn’t do this sort of thing before Microsoft bought them.

dan1101,

Ignorance fought. Or bad memory.

dan1101,

I’m not sure, but if you have an Nvidia card you can limit FPS in Nvidia Control Panel. I did that for Starfield so I didn’t get the frequent 25-60 FPS swings.

dan1101,

Will it still be playable online co-op after Sep 30?

dan1101,

Not yet, might not be technically possible. I don’t think the planet surface really exists from orbit view.

dan1101,

The biggest letdown is the big continuous handcrafted open world is not there. In Skyrim you could walk from one end of the map to the other, encountering various handcrafted things and random events along the way, as well as NPCs on their daily routines. There really is no equivalent in Starfield. Still a great game, just not a sim and without a big seamless open world.

dan1101,

The trouble is jumping around to dots on the map is still fast travel with extra steps.

dan1101,

I think the traveling in Elite is great, but the rest of the content is grindy and/or very shallow.

dan1101,

Haha EA exec, that was explains everything.

dan1101, (edited )

What kind of game engine charges per install? Not per sale or even per user. Really bad precedent.

dan1101,

Mods can be installed to your Documents/My Games folder and a Starfieldcustom.ini file created with 2 special settings. Then Starfield should find them even on the Game pass version. See the instructions for various mods. The exception I believe are mods that use SKSE but I believe there is a workaround for that too.

dan1101,

Yeah as petty as some people are over games I can see a developer pissing them off and a bunch of players banding together to uninstall and reinstall games over and over. They could even script it. Bad idea all around.
