Usually because they want to sell you cosmetics and other junk and the only way to ensure you don’t just mod it in for free is to make the game phone home and verify itself constantly.
I don’t have many on PC, but basically any TT Lego Game comes to mind, along with Sackboy a Big Adventure and The Escapist 2. That’s like a decent 75% of my splitscreen PC library though lol
hm. splitscreen seems to have peaked ages ago unfortunately. have you tried Blur Racing (archive.org)? that’s what i call prime splitscreen gaming. also borderlands3 on console is mentionworthy.
Project Zomboid is my favorite split screen game. Not split screen but shared-screen-coop and tons of fun: Wild Woods, Speedrunners, Demons Crystals, unrailed. I’ll add more if I can think of them. These all have fantastic controller support.
I used this to play Minecraft with my girlfriend on my PC and it works alright. I do use it with 2 screens though. There’s other games too but I haven’t tried any.
But yes I do agree there is a severe lack of splitscreens nowadays especially with the hardware we have available now compared to what we used to.
In my naïve hopes I hoped this could be from stopping harrasment within Square Enix and its development partners, but alas no. It is stopping fans from harrasing, which is good but really they should turn that policy inwards as well.
I remember playing this back in the day. I just replayed it, and even though I knew exactly where it was going to pop up, it still startled the s*** out of me, lol.
I’ve had it wishlisted for a while because the trailers and screenshots look fantastic. Unsure if the sprawling scope will result in anything ever playable.
My hope is for something akin to a Mount & Blade style RPG but who knows of it’ll ever see the light of day.
After the cluster fuck that was their previous release on top of the mass amount of actual DLC so I can’t just buy the game and run with it, there was no way in hell I would buy this game.
The last flight Sim game that I had was flight simulator x, and honestly even that one if I hadn’t got it as a gift I probably wouldn’t have purchased because even that, the amount of DLC that it had was outrageous, I was lucky enough that I got it on disc so I’m not bombarded with them all the time, but I had looked at the steam page because I was curious about it and man was I in for a shock.
I wish I still had all the discs to my flight simulator 2004, it did basically the same exact thing that X did, and arguably was better than the previous iteration of flight simulator without all of the stupid paywalls. I just threw the disc in and it ran, didn’t have to wait days for it to download, it didn’t monopolize part of my drive and it didn’t need a NASA supercomputer plus Internet to run
