Why you should buy it now

I thought you were going to explain why I should buy it now, but you haven’t? I’m playing something else right now so I don’t see a reason to buy it now because later, when I’m actually going to play it, it might be on sale.

That’s likely the fault of mods, I’ve been playing without them and haven’t had any bugs.

The title and the article are overdramaric. On PS5 it’s working great. The issue looks to be messing with mods (which had been expected), not breaking the actual game.

I’m not sure what exactly is the point of installing this update on PC other than a questline and some cosmetics? As this update was mainly targeted for consoles to increase framerate and resolution - which it did better than I expected - and PC players could already do that without the update.

It’s the modders who need to adjust the mods.

I only experienced framerate drop in the prologue (in the house in 2077 and in the Vault) and 1 crash during it. Once I was out in the open world, tha game has been flawless.

The only thing I expected from this update was 60 FPS and - if it’s not too much to ask - higher resolution. They delivered that and more. Game runs smoothly and looks much better than I expected, more detailed (and much better than FO76). They also threw in some new content which I haven’t discovered yet so cannot vouch for it. The Enclave paint look great on everything though.

And remember, this is a free update. So I think people are going a bit too hard on Bethesda this time (I know it’s the trendy thing to do). They pissed me off when they delayed the update just to sync it with the show. But looking back from their perspective it was probably the right call since everyone is now more hyped to play the games.

EDIT: And exactly as you say - modders just need some time to update their mods. But you cannot expect Bethesda to have their update checked for compatibility with every mod out there.

It wasn’t unnecessary, it was definitely necessary and many people, including me, waited for it. It’s also the best time to drop the patch now that there’s the hype from the show. It’s unlikely to affect new players because it’s an issue with mods, not the actual game. Can’t image many players start a game for the first time and install mods but if anyone does that, there’s a warning. You can’t expect Bethesda to test the compatibility of their game with all the mods out there, that’s up to the respective modders.

Modders are not expected to do anything, there are also not a factor here as it’s not their game and the developers don’t need to check up with them. The update however has been 2 years in the making so hardly anyone can be surprised, especially modders.

Not a shooter, but you can have a lot of fun in custom matches of Rocket League and the game is suitable for kids and free.

Hogwarts Legacy has a pretty, relatively kid friendly world to explore too.

It says that you have an issue with the women’s game being treated in the same way as the men’s game.

This is the exact opposite of what I’m saying. Men’s stats have been reflected with due diligence while women’s stats have been artificially upscaled - how is that being treated the same way?

If a core system of the game “doesn’t matter” to you then why do you even play the game?

Baldur’s Gate 1 & 2 as well as Divinity: Original Sin 2 were all huge successes and Baldur’s Gate 3 was in early access for 3 years to either test it or read testers opinions. So you’ve got a very successful IP using a renown system, a devoted studio known for quality games with proper resources and their own, capable and proven game engine, years of polishing the game and adhering to fans feedback. If you “completely understand why it wasn’t on the radar” then… I guess you could get a job at Microsoft.
