8gb is probably a bit too small for most photorealistic style games at maximum settings, but maybe they should introduce optional games asset support to steam. No point downloading the full resolution textures if you’re playing on low texture settings.
Yeah, alot of games in their own launchers have that option, but bought through steam don’t, steam needs a clean way of supporting multiple install formats, I guess.
Halo lets you choose to not install the 4k textures in steam? And they use the dlc system to present that option? That doesn’t sound like it would be super clear. But I’ll check it out and see. Which halo?
Ok, yeah. That’s reasonably clear. More games should take advantage of that. It could probably also still be done similar to how other launchers do it too, but looks like the DLC system can at least handle it for now. Honestly, it’s better that it’s an opt-in system than an opt-out. Very few people still tend to play games at a resolution and with hardware that truly benefits from having textures set to ultra. Especially for competitive shooters, since hitting your monitors max refresh is more important. The hardware to hit 200+fps at 4k with ultra textures is basically only the people whose videocard cost more than the rest of the computer combined, likely double.
Geralt is a magically inclined mutant which is particularly attractive to the other witches as they are 90+ years old as is Geralt so plain human partners are barely more than plaything to them
There are a lot of beautiful women in Geralt’s orbit, but in my playthrough, I started off romancing Yennifer, but then Triss comes around, sparks fly, and I decided to see if I could be with both of them, seems like something they’d be into. Well, everything is going well, it seems like we might be about to consummate our thruple, things start getting real steamy, and then BOOM, they were just fucking with you, but won’t fuck you. You have to choose. It was such a hilarious and well-executed bait and switch. Though that was just my playthrough.
In addition to what the others commented, most (all?) of the attractive female lead characters are wearing the MOST RIDICULOUS tops ever. For some reason, women in the world of the witcher prefer shirts that are unbuttoned just in the boob region, or have a DEEP V-cut in them, or are just totally unbuttoned.
Don’t get me wrong, I love boobies as much as the next guy, but so many of the outfits just look impractical - especially for martial characters.
There is a technical lore reason though, most of the hot women are sorceresses, and can basically change their appearances at will. They tend to be hot women because it makes for easier social lives. Otherwise they are all 90 year old crones.
They look like that because the primarily male, hetero audience wants to see this. Let’s not come up with in-lore reasons why female characters are sexualised the way they are
In the show you literally see Yennefer go from fugly to beautiful because being sexualized is useful if you’re of a gender nobody usually listens to in the middle ages.
It’s a fantasy setting. Nobodies stopping the show runners from straying away from how things were in the middle ages. If that’s too unrealistic to you, I have a feeling magic, monsters, and witchers might be reality-breaking for you too (not literally you - second person plural you)
The point is that it’s part of the social commentary of the whole thing. If you could look however you want, would you not want to look hot and young? And wouldn’t it also help with surviving in a bleak patriarchal world?
The whole story of the Witcher is partly about how you have to be an all powerful strong woman who can literally set things on fire with her mind, and also look like a bombshell, to even have a chance at a semblance of power. And even so, you are looked at as an abomination, and are at best a second fiddle to the inept bloodthirsty kings, who will kill you if you ever show signs of independent thought.
The fact that a legit website could be taken down just by a big corporation claim, without any further third party or gubernamental investigation. Is indeed frightening.
Ive had companies call my mom over stuff because the last known contact information they found for me was from when I was still living with my parents. Literally years after I moved out.
The “A.I” excuse stuff reads like bullshit. The mom call might just be old information.
Yeah because it’s still in development and not yet available. S&box is one of the “games” already using it in the background. When it releases to the public, it’ll be just as popular as Source was - especially with the pricing strategy of “the only thing you need to pay for it is the steam fee” which is what, $100 per game?
Is it? I last read about their pricing when greenlight was a thing and they said it’s for the shop / adverts / all the cool things you get for support of the game. Didn’t know they gave back the $100
I mean, they have Source 2, but to call it a rival before it’s even made it to third-party developers (Facepunch games is effectively second party) is a bit of a stretch.
People will buy it. And then they will wonder why content quality declines and more and more micro transactions appear in a game they bought and pay subscription for.
The capitalism will always look for the easy route to even more money, and monkey brains with need for status symbols will follow.
