Literally just beef up the graphics a bit, update some minor but essential gameplay mechanics, and send it.

Quick question is it pronounced “you be soft” or “oo be soft”?

ThatWeirdGuy1001,
@ThatWeirdGuy1001@lemmy.world avatar

I’ve always said it with “you” but that makes sense.

I was only curious because of the “an” before ubisoft in the comment I replied to. If it was the “you” sound it wouldn’t feel right to say out loud and it confused me lol

Thank you for the lesson!

It changed a few small details like how becoming a ghoul works but other than that it’s really good.

Yeah. A few companies made good games. Doesn’t mean most companies aren’t making dogshit games that everyone keeps gobbling up and shelling money for

Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom.

I love Zelda I always have. The first game I ever played was the original Zelda on the NES and I was hooked ever since. I’ve even played most of the games and really enjoyed all of them.

But there’s one glaring issue that I have with botw/totk. The weapon/armor system. I hate games with weapon/armor degradation and Zelda’s system is even worse than normal.

They went from weapons never breaking or taking damage at all, to shields taking damage but get the Hylian shield and it’s unbreakable, to every single weapon and shield breaks after a pathetic amount of uses.

I would’ve even been fine with an Oblivion style degradation system where the weapon does less damage the more damaged it is but can be repaired with the right tool or by going to a blacksmith.

It’s even worse when you notice that higher tier weapons break faster than lower tier ones, or that enemies can use weapons forever, yet the chosen fuckin hero only gets about 15 whacks before a solid piece of wood/metal just fuckin explodes.

So you prefer playing as another gender? (quanticfoundry.com) angielski

Well, as a guy, I’ve been asked multiple times why I systematically play games female characters in video games, to the point of skipping a game if I’m forced to pay a male one, with a few exceptions (I really liked Albus from Troubleshooters for example). Whenever there’s romance in a game, I’ll also take the F/F route....

@ThatWeirdGuy1001@lemmy.world avatar

It really isn’t. They want you to play through each house but it’s literally the same story regardless of which house you choose.

The game is only fun until the hype of exploring Hogwarts fades. Then it’s just your average mid tier adventure game.

It only survived because it’s Harry Potter.

Edit: The broom flying was cool af though I’ll give them that

Edit 2: Something I’ve always brought up about this game is, once you get petrificus totalus it turns into Harry Potter and the Assassin’s Creed

ThatWeirdGuy1001,
@ThatWeirdGuy1001@lemmy.world avatar

I only say that because it’s like the stealth archer build from Skyrim. Once you unlock the ability you just naturally move to a stealthy approach.

That and you can unlock an upgrade that allows you to take out a bunch of people at once if they’re grouped up

ThatWeirdGuy1001,
@ThatWeirdGuy1001@lemmy.world avatar

Tbf these games were made with crtvs in mind and crtvs blurred the edges making things look smoother. They only look so blocky nowadays because newer tvs have better resolution so you can clearly see all the blocky edges.

ThatWeirdGuy1001,
@ThatWeirdGuy1001@lemmy.world avatar

It’s a habit I picked up from my dad lol

He always called them crtvs because he thought the “tube” part of cathode ray tube was unnecessary when using the acronym. You know it’s a tube because what else would a cathode ray be in?

That’s how I feel about right wing terrorism in US politics.

The fact that Democratic runners willingly cave to that kind of pressure not only emboldens these nutjobs but also shows a complete lack of spine.

Souls games.

tHe PoInT oF tHe GaMe Is ThE sTrUgGlE

So turn the difficulty up.

ThatWeirdGuy1001,
@ThatWeirdGuy1001@lemmy.world avatar

Star wars Jedi fallen order/survivor seemed to do just fine. It changed parry times and enemy stagger/aggression with difficulty changes.

Doesn’t seem like it’d be that hard to do the same thing with souls games.

ThatWeirdGuy1001,
@ThatWeirdGuy1001@lemmy.world avatar

And I get that. My biggest issue is I know if I could just lower the difficulty I would love the game. Hell I feel I could probably get pretty good at it if I played it on a lower difficulty then switched to a higher one after getting everything down.

ThatWeirdGuy1001,
@ThatWeirdGuy1001@lemmy.world avatar

Meanwhile I pull out my old CRT slap in my N64 and play just like I would as a kid.

Y’all’s obsessions with graphics and frames is weird to me.

No hate, just confusion.

ThatWeirdGuy1001,
@ThatWeirdGuy1001@lemmy.world avatar

Ngl the only reason I remember playing this game is because of all the bugs I ran into while playing.

Don’t get me wrong the gameplay was great when it worked but getting killed by npc’s that can see and shoot through walls was infuriating.

I remember one part specifically where you were fighting in a suburban residential area and I got killed by the same npc’s on the second story of the same blue house like 12 times because even though the second story had failed to load visually for me it was still physically there. So even though I could see them I had no way of knowing when I could actually shoot back effectively

Good gaming experiences with no HUD? angielski

I’m starting to find that HUDs in games clutter the screen and take away from being fully immersed in the game. I like games that force you to pay attention to what’s going on in the game and not numbers/markers on the edges of the display. What are some of your favorite games to play with no HUD? Here are a few of mine:...

ThatWeirdGuy1001,
@ThatWeirdGuy1001@lemmy.world avatar

Gotta be honest here.

Immersion has no meaning to me and I don’t understand the obsession.

ThatWeirdGuy1001,
@ThatWeirdGuy1001@lemmy.world avatar

See stuff like that just makes me laugh though.

Like I kinda get what you mean but stuff like physics glitches and weird moments like your described just make me laugh.

Even in a serious situation like a grand epic battle the sight of a deceased character model slowly vibrating before launching into the cosmos is hilarious to me.

Or in your case a widow who’s heartbroken and sobbing then the cutscene ends and she’s just “hi how can I help you today?” in a cheerful tone and I just burst out laughing

ThatWeirdGuy1001,
@ThatWeirdGuy1001@lemmy.world avatar

Hogwarts legacy was good until the hype wore off and then you notice that it’s not very good story/gameplay wise and the whole game coasted on the castle itself.

ThatWeirdGuy1001,
@ThatWeirdGuy1001@lemmy.world avatar

Star Wars KotOR did this really well with the final boss. He heals himself but it makes sense why he can and you can prevent him from doing it if you know how.

Would you prefer if games had a separate difficulty setting for boss fights? angielski

I usually play games on “normal” difficulty these days, for a balanced challenge. However, I don’t particularly enjoy boss fights, or at least I don’t enjoy the extra challenge associated with them. Was thinking it would be nice if games had a separate setting so I could just set boss fights to “easy”, while not...

ThatWeirdGuy1001,
@ThatWeirdGuy1001@lemmy.world avatar

I prefer games that use reactionary difficult (idk what the proper term is) where the difficulty changes based on how well you do.

Kicking too much ass? Here’s more enemies and they hit harder.

Getting gangbanged at every turn? Fewer enemies and they’re easier to kill.

This seems like the best way to make sure everyone playing has a fun experience

Patrick fuckin Stewart was in it as well but he dies in the tutorial.
