Or what if they prefer things other than playing video games? My buddy’s sons really aren’t into video games and he’s one of those dudes who budgets to buy new games.
That is a very healthy way of thinking (though lets discuss again when they play Justin Bieber, romantic adventures themed VR game with tons of buyable accessories and asks you money to buy virtual Justin Bieber signed sneakers to impress some virtual girls)
Let them play them! My son has changed games many times. Sometimes he gets me into something I didn’t like at first but I end up liking because we game together.
Closest I’ve come to this is how I’ve overplayed the few games I’ve been playing recently and it’s started to become boring because of it. Though, I think I’ve ended up addicted enough to where I couldn’t fully quit games as a hobby, even if I wanted.
What, the one who’s name starts with K, in the ‘Following the thread’ quest? I let him live for the sake of his family, same as I reversed the Nithing in the quest of the same name, as the son doesn’t deserve to die for the sins of the father
No I dont think that is the one. Its the guy who killed a whole village except for one child because they tried to kill him after he got rid of the monster attacking them.
In fact, I usually try to avoid getting into fights or uneccessary violence, the only exceptions being killing Whoreson Junior, and getting into a fight in that inn in Skellige over the ‘law of hospitality’, which didn’t end well.
I usually kill him. Geralt tries to comfort him by mentioning his Butcher moniker, but they’re not at all the same circumstances. What he does is inexcusable, regardless of the girl he spares.
Killed the guys who betrayed him, and dared the village to do something about it. Axxiid them walk off a cliff, burn down their barn. I’m sure there’s plenty of alternative options for a Witcher without slaughtering everyone.
I replayed it recently on an emulator and it really holds up, the only other person I know that played it played it with me as kids. Unicorn Overlord caught my eye recently and looks really similar, I’m pretty excited about playing it
Oh yeah, I’m playing Unicorn Overlord right now! It scratches that same itch, and I’ve really been enjoying it. It’s a little easier than I’d like, so you can pretty comfortably crank up the difficulty to the highest setting for a decent challenge.
If you like this genre (whatever it would be called), you might also like Symphony of War on PC. I played it a couple of years ago, and it’s really good. It was the first game I’d played like Ogre Battle 64 since I was a kid.
Biggest reason I play visual novels is definitely for story and lack of gameplay, usually (cough cough Danganronpa cough cough). Gameplay means little to me if I’m really interested in the story and wanna see it through.
Comparing modern game with games from the olden days is a little bit like comparing a savery steam pump with a modern internal combustion engine. Sure the general principles are identical but the complexity of the system is a manifold of the other.
I really love retro games, i have very fond memories of the C64 and SNES, but i am not a fan of the glorification of those games. Only a small part of the old games are still fun today and lots of them have bugs. Secret of Mana on the SNES for example has a fun bug where leveling all weapons and spells to max can create a overflow error in the final fight of the game, which removes the mana hero completely from the game, rendering the last fight impossible because only the mana hero can damage the mana dragon significantly.
If memory serves, Valve got the idea for the loot boxes from Korean free to play games. As far as I know though, they did invent the battle pass with Dota 2.
Gonna repeat what someone else here said: This is a dumb, dumb complaint that clearly doesn’t understand MMOs in general, nor the slow build-up to you being a hero, nor how much better XIV is doing writing-wise than literally every other MMO. Also the side content can be really freaking good. I’ve cried a few times and got close many others— and that’s just the poignant stuff— not the hilarious or badass stuff.
XIV ain’t perfect, but this is one of the dumbest complaints someone could have about an MMO; and they picked the worst MMO to complain about the writing on.
