As Gamers Express Concern About Borderlands 4 Potentially Costing $80, Gearbox Chief Randy Pitchford Says: ‘If You’re a Real Fan, You’ll Find a Way to Make It Happen’ (www.ign.com)

The video game industry has made the jump to $80, first with Nintendo and Mario Kart World, then with Microsoft and its price hike announcement that will kick in this holiday season. Could Borderlands 4 follow suit?...

My local game store had Starflight for Sega Genesis for $80 in 1991 when I was just out of high school working minimum wage at an ice cream parlor in Pismo Beach and I found a way to make it happen.

The classic CEO fanfic… They also learn everything they need to be a successful businessman by selling lemonade in a stall

You just ask for 🏴‍☠️ at this point.

Dharkstare, to Gaming

I finished my first playthrough of Cyberpunk 2077. I absolutely love the setting for the game and hopefully they'll make a sequel. Cyberpunk is going to join the very small selection of games I immediately replay. I just need to figure out how to do mods on Bazzite first.

After finishing C2077 I immediately replay TW3 actually.

They improved in some aspects, made some trade offs with the quest system(TW3 has a mesh of quest way more interconnected than C2077), some things are worse in C2077(voice over in TW3 was better in general, maybe was COVID). But in the end of the day I like C2077 more, I probably will never play TW3 again.

For mods, try Limo or you can use ProtonUp-Qt to install Steamtinkerlaunch, with steamtinkerlaunch is pretty easy to use Vortex. Cyberpunk has a modding wiki with a tutorial to setup mods in linux, is just the setup process and not how to install mods.

Now? They do that all the time, in fact Hollywood do this since I don’t know, the 50s?

Palworld confirms ‘disappointing’ game changes forced by Pokémon lawsuit (www.videogameschronicle.com)

With the implementation of Patch v0.5.5 this week, we must make yet another compromise. From this patch onward, gliding will be performed using a glider rather than with Pals. Pals in the player’s team will still provide passive buffs to gliding, but players will now need to have a glider in their inventory in order to glide....

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

If you set out to create a game involving collecting, or even looking at and cataloguing, a bunch of different fantasy creatures, you’re going to have some that are at least a little similar to pokemon.

If you search for a fox fire witch you’ll see different interpretations on that. But somehow Palworld made a fox fire witch extremely close to an art of a fanmade Mega Delphox.

delphox comparisson

It’s not an official pokémon but no way in hell they’re didn’t just create the pal based on this art, it’s just too similar.

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

I’m not talking about the lawsuit, I’m responding about the idea that eventually people will create monsters that looks similar to Pokémon because of the vast amount of Pokémons, Palworld clearly tried to be close as legally possible.

The final patch like one of the final patches from Terraria or a final final patch?

Should we boycott games with loot boxes?

I have been avoiding multiplayer Valve games like Counter-Strike 2 and Team Fortress 2, due to their in-game economies that have created an underage gambling gray market, which Valve has done little about. However, I am on Linux, and the choices for multiplayer shooters are few. Besides, my small boycott is not stopping...

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

Are boycotts really the best solution to stop this epidemic in gaming? How can we best prevent these gambling grey markets and the gaming to gambling addiction pipeline?

No, boycotts do fucking nothing. The only thing that could make a difference is regulations to properly label these type of thing as gambling and even that is not very likely to succeed. They make a lot of money with gambling.

Should we boycott games with loot boxes?

Do if you want to do it.

Good games can still fail, great games can have the luxury of let people do the marketing for them.

So my transition from cringe lord to become a better individual overall is actually just me getting better at video game? Fair enough

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

Look at the release of Rise of the Ronin for PC, the game has a huge CPU bottleneck, poor performance around big cities, looks like the game render stuff that shouldn’t be rendered. The last patch they released? “Graphics mode”…

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

You also have the team synergy as a factor in a team based game. Even if the match is perfectly balanced if people have any grief with each other in the same team(bad previous interaction, bias against certain characters, the good old racism/bigotry against other player or just difference in playstyles) the match is doomed.

I cannot understand how is this game rated Steam Deck compatible if it is badly optimized?

The game have problems with NVIDIA specifically, coming from Ubisoft they probably only tried to optimized to AMD to get the Steam Deck Compatible badge before launch.

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

Man, I dunno, but anything after AC Origins hast felt so bad and soulless… I could say anything after AC Revelations is soulless

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

Origins is a good game, shouldn’t be an AC. The Assassin stuff on Origin hold it back actually.

Your all-time favorite game? Let's discuss the best options!

I feel like my “all-time favorite” changes depending on my mood, but if I had to pick just one, I’d probably go with The Witcher 3. That game just hit all the right notes—amazing story, incredible world-building, and so much stuff to do without feeling like pointless filler. Plus, the expansions were just as good, if not...

That game just hit all the right notes—amazing story, incredible world-building, and so much stuff to do without feeling like pointless filler. Plus, the expansions were just as good, if not better than the base game.

I replayed the entire game after completing Cyberpunk 2077 and finished it this weekend. Sadly for me the game doesn’t hold up that well in various aspects and it was one of my favourites. The story is great, the ending is really well done, but the combat is too simple, the leveling of the game is all over the place, the RPG aspect of the game is really underwhelming and the game is just too damn long. I actually ended up enjoying Cyberpunk 2077 more at the end, but TW3 is a better game in general.

As for my “all-time favorite”, that depends.

Nier: Automata changed me, the game had a real impact on me.

Zelda BOTW is the game that made me feel happier while playing it.

Sekiro is the game that just clicked perfectly.

DAO was my all time favourite RPG but Divinity 2/BG3 both took that spot.

Chrono Trigger is the game that I’ll always remember, the singleplayer game that I’ve replayed the most.

Terraria is my favourite indie game.

I have a real soft spot for Bloodstained, I loved Casltevania Symphony of the Night and I waited so long for Bloodstained and the guys delivered what I expected. The first game that I wanted to do 100%.

Almost all publishers are ass, should I never buy a game again?

Yep /s

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

Same goes for OW.

I paid for a 6 x 6 Hero Shooter they gave me a F2P 5 x 5 version with a lot of changes and I cannot ever play again the game that I paid for. I do mind a lot.

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

The problem isn’t the amount of value, they’ve essentially removed OW1, there’s no way to play it again from a game preservation perspective is goddamn awful what they’ve done. Probably the only time you can play it again is when they release an Overwatch Classic for $29.99 in 10 years.

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

I play a lot of MR, got matched with bots twice and both times I had to lose 3-4 times in a row. I can not see how bots is a issue with the game.

New AI DLC to analyze your games and give some tips like:

“You need to improve your aim, but keep going 🚀”

For only $9.99/month

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

She has a ice bolt, explosive shot and a quick roll. The only difference in abilities is Cassie has the widow ultimate and Freja has a ability to lift upward.

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

Sometimes the dev wants to push a bigger update and takes more than 3 months? Why full stop the sales? Just warn the people and let them decides.

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

A bad written character is a bad written character, their dialogue could be about candies and is still a bad written character. This argument is bullshit, bad case of confirmatory bias.

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

Until they need to inflate numbers before showing to shareholders

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

I have been talking a lot with a friend of mine about DAV and Dreadwolf.

I really think that even if they released the Dreadwolf, the version from the artbook, they probably won’t made a profit, the game could sell well like Inquisition but not like a Cyberpunk/The Witcher 3/BG3 and for the amount of time and resource they used sales like inquisition is not enough. They blew their chances with the 10 years of delays, the IP was not in a good place.

Only a miracle, a game on the same level as BG3 for Bioware to make a profit again.

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

My prediction is yes, they’ll ask 100$ and more, and yes, people will pay it.

Well the game could be disastrous and sell poorly after the first week.

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

I’ll be getting whatever they do next but I hope it’s sci-fi.

Hmmmm, I never even imagined a sci-fi game from Larian, now I really want it.

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

You living in the past, rendering 100% of the frames is called Brute Force Rendering, that’s for losers.

With only 2k trump coins our new graphic card can run Cyberpunk 2077, a game from 4 years ago, at 30 fps with RTX ON but you see with DLSS and all the other crap magic we can run at 280 FPS!!! Everything is blurry and ugly as fuck but look at the numbers!!!

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

Never understood this shit, create a account and download a launcher to get a free thing that you don’t own in a shitty platform, that’s piracy with extra steps.

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

Dragon Age Veilguard was actually a success

They finally confirmed or denied this claim?

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

In others words, not a success, pretty bad for a IP so famous like Dragon Age

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

Too much “back in my day” vibe in your comment.

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

That doesn’t mean it’s not without things to critique, as every generation of games has, nor that nothing of value has been lost.
