Genuine question. Seemed to be super hyped and now I don’t hear much about it. Steam charts have 300k as highest player count but now it’s around 60-80k players.
Still top 10 right now in concurrent players on steam. Every other game on the tier list is a free to play game or Dune(with less players than Nightreign) and Dune is a big IP with a multimillion movie trilogy. Calling it flop is absurd.
They’ll probably implement a daily/hourly download limit like MEGA does. So, for example, you can download 1000000000 small mods of some kbs, but the limit is 5 GB, so the mod bundle for big games is virtually limited to premium users.
They’ll probably try to change the lifetime subscription(the biggest sin in capitalism, how do you make infinite money without doing nothing if people can buy subscription once?), making it useless compared to the premium premium subscription.
Paid mods I think are unlikely, why bother to make a change so unpopular? Milk this shit for a decade and press this button only when shit hits the fan.
Is a enshification process not so painful so the vast majority will not bother to look for alternatives.
? Same reason people use shit platforms? I can’t barely watch Twitch with 3 ads in a row every 30min and they still are the biggest streaming platform even when is shitty to the users and streamers. It’s a community based platform unless the community move to other place they still be big because people is there.
Search for the story of Anthem and David Gaider opinions about how they handle their writers, they fucked that up on their own.
And reading this article is basically: The DA team blames the ME team for diverting them to Andromeda. Then they blame Anthem. Then they blame EA. Then they blame the pandemic. Then they blame EA. Then they blame the ME team again.
The only moment that they actually put some blame on the DA team is with the tone of dialogue and they quickly blame EA for saying “you guys doesn’t have time to make changes”. The ME team made changes, it’s because of favouritism from EA or the ME team just has better management and know how to negotiate?
I could argue in favour of EA’s decision regarding the engine. Their previous engine was also a mess, but they mishandled the change. They didn’t give the studios the necessary time or support to implement it properly. But at the time of Veilguard they already had plenty of experience, the game performs really well and they release the game practically bug free.
The part of EA forcing them to build a type of game that they didn’t usually make I’m particularly not inclining to believe it’s was a problem. Bioware developed and maintain Star Wars Old Republic, an MMO, MMOs have many similarities to live services(it’s a type of live service), they already had experience with that. They also released Anthem, and looks like the idea of a multiplayer for Anthem came from Bioware.
The idea of a multiplayer Dragon age to finish the story is completely stupid but Bioware had the expertise to work on it. It’s a different case for Fallout 76 as Bethesda has never developed a multiplayer game before, TESO is a completely different studio with its own team, SWTOR is from a team within Bioware.
Hiya, just newly thought about something: wouldn't be nice if there was a simple way of checking what games you have played over the years, a way to keep track of wether you liked the game or not, how much time you spent playing it etc.. Currently, personally i only check steam library for those kinda details. But it would be...
I start using this 3-4years ago, there’s a lot of games on “Not started” or “On hold” there are games there I finished but want to replay and there’s a lot of older games that I played and didn’t add to “Done”. In my case is more of games that I bought it and need to be remembered to play it.
The nope are games that I dropped because of problems to play it on Linux or I didn’t like to play.
Genshin is there because I have another gacha game in the Non Stop(FGO), playing both of them is impossible.
I saw the clusterfucker 2k/take two did with borderlands and fuck them, but it’s still possible to play without their shit by sailing the high seas so I still plan to finish Borderlands 3.
You can search for it, in 2014 they have reports of a declining in pre-orders industry wide, they don’t give numbers of pre-orders but even if you look at the ranking of sold games in online platforms people buy more days after the release than before or in day of the release.
The boycott of pre-order kinda of worked, more people avoid pre-ordering than before and did that make any difference in the quality of game release? Hell no, they still release game with bugs, not finished with need of day one patches, the entire boycott made 0 impact on this shit.
i think you are misunderstanding the point of the no preorder movement. There never should have been an expectation for it to improve the Day 1 quality of game releases.
And many other articles or reddit discussions about the topic. That’s what game journalist told the gamers and what many believe. The consumer protection was always the part that made sense, but they tried to push this idea of we could fix the broken release culture by not pre-ordering.
The game looks like a mixture of GTA, Mafia, modernize APB in a cyberpunk-esque universe with generic Unreal 5 graphics.
The mod tool is the biggest feature in my eyes, but for the average gamer does that make a difference? I don’t think you need to pay to criticize this game, but what do I know? I been paid by Russia and China to have this account on lemmy 🤷♂️
Video game movies have a chance of being good, they are almost always trash with a slim chance of being good. For a game with a lot of lore and no plot, the chance of being good is close to zero.
The video game industry has made the jump to $80, first with Nintendo and Mario Kart World, then with Microsoft and its price hike announcement that will kick in this holiday season. Could Borderlands 4 follow suit?...
My local game store had Starflight for Sega Genesis for $80 in 1991 when I was just out of high school working minimum wage at an ice cream parlor in Pismo Beach and I found a way to make it happen.
The classic CEO fanfic… They also learn everything they need to be a successful businessman by selling lemonade in a stall
His father worked for the U.S. Intelligence as an engineer, I really doubt he had any financial problem that the “I found a way to make it happen.” is anything different them “I asked for daddy’s money”
I finished my first playthrough of Cyberpunk 2077. I absolutely love the setting for the game and hopefully they'll make a sequel. Cyberpunk is going to join the very small selection of games I immediately replay. I just need to figure out how to do mods on Bazzite first.
After finishing C2077 I immediately replay TW3 actually.
They improved in some aspects, made some trade offs with the quest system(TW3 has a mesh of quest way more interconnected than C2077), some things are worse in C2077(voice over in TW3 was better in general, maybe was COVID). But in the end of the day I like C2077 more, I probably will never play TW3 again.
For mods, try Limo or you can use ProtonUp-Qt to install Steamtinkerlaunch, with steamtinkerlaunch is pretty easy to use Vortex. Cyberpunk has a modding wiki with a tutorial to setup mods in linux, is just the setup process and not how to install mods.
With the implementation of Patch v0.5.5 this week, we must make yet another compromise. From this patch onward, gliding will be performed using a glider rather than with Pals. Pals in the player’s team will still provide passive buffs to gliding, but players will now need to have a glider in their inventory in order to glide....
If you set out to create a game involving collecting, or even looking at and cataloguing, a bunch of different fantasy creatures, you’re going to have some that are at least a little similar to pokemon.
If you search for a fox fire witch you’ll see different interpretations on that. But somehow Palworld made a fox fire witch extremely close to an art of a fanmade Mega Delphox.
I’m not talking about the lawsuit, I’m responding about the idea that eventually people will create monsters that looks similar to Pokémon because of the vast amount of Pokémons, Palworld clearly tried to be close as legally possible.
I have been avoiding multiplayer Valve games like Counter-Strike 2 and Team Fortress 2, due to their in-game economies that have created an underage gambling gray market, which Valve has done little about. However, I am on Linux, and the choices for multiplayer shooters are few. Besides, my small boycott is not stopping...
Are boycotts really the best solution to stop this epidemic in gaming? How can we best prevent these gambling grey markets and the gaming to gambling addiction pipeline?
No, boycotts do fucking nothing. The only thing that could make a difference is regulations to properly label these type of thing as gambling and even that is not very likely to succeed. They make a lot of money with gambling.
I've seen a lot of people lately saying that upscaling (fsr, dlss, etc.) is a bad thing, including some calling it 'fake frames', which is probably due to them confusing it with frame generation....
Look at the release of Rise of the Ronin for PC, the game has a huge CPU bottleneck, poor performance around big cities, looks like the game render stuff that shouldn’t be rendered. The last patch they released? “Graphics mode”…
You also have the team synergy as a factor in a team based game. Even if the match is perfectly balanced if people have any grief with each other in the same team(bad previous interaction, bias against certain characters, the good old racism/bigotry against other player or just difference in playstyles) the match is doomed.
I cannot understand how is this game rated Steam Deck compatible if it is badly optimized?
The game have problems with NVIDIA specifically, coming from Ubisoft they probably only tried to optimized to AMD to get the Steam Deck Compatible badge before launch.
I feel like my “all-time favorite” changes depending on my mood, but if I had to pick just one, I’d probably go with The Witcher 3. That game just hit all the right notes—amazing story, incredible world-building, and so much stuff to do without feeling like pointless filler. Plus, the expansions were just as good, if not...

I replayed the entire game after completing Cyberpunk 2077 and finished it this weekend. Sadly for me the game doesn’t hold up that well in various aspects and it was one of my favourites. The story is great, the ending is really well done, but the combat is too simple, the leveling of the game is all over the place, the RPG aspect of the game is really underwhelming and the game is just too damn long. I actually ended up enjoying Cyberpunk 2077 more at the end, but TW3 is a better game in general.
As for my “all-time favorite”, that depends.
Nier: Automata changed me, the game had a real impact on me.
Zelda BOTW is the game that made me feel happier while playing it.
Sekiro is the game that just clicked perfectly.
DAO was my all time favourite RPG but Divinity 2/BG3 both took that spot.
Chrono Trigger is the game that I’ll always remember, the singleplayer game that I’ve replayed the most.
Terraria is my favourite indie game.
I have a real soft spot for Bloodstained, I loved Casltevania Symphony of the Night and I waited so long for Bloodstained and the guys delivered what I expected. The first game that I wanted to do 100%.
