Doesn’t matter. In a few years what will be considered modern will no longer run this game unless the game is updated to just say “yup the game works here too”

While we're at it, let's remember that this version allows for portable play that can also be plugged into a TV with nothing more than a cable and Bluetooth controller. Or if you really want to play on a PC setup and have a Mac (hint: if you're in the market for an iPhone 15 Pro, it's likely that you do) you can switch to that at no extra cost.
You may not pay an extra $30 for that, but plenty of people would consider that reasonable.
Why does nobody question the price tag in general? 60 USD for a remake, sounds outrageous, no matter what platform.
Because it's a remake. Meaning, it's been re-made. Not remastered. Not reusing assets. Built from scratch. That costs money. If anything, it cost Capcom even more money than the original did, so it's actually impressive that it costs the same now as it did when the original came out.
And porting it to Apple's platforms costs even more money, on top of all that.
By the way you can buy the game for almost half price on other platforms in digital and physical form as well. They are just taking the piss.
Fat lot of good that does for the people who don't own those platforms.
60$, or regional equivalent, for 6 games is not a bad discount. If you own even one of them already the price is halved. I’d say that qualifies as cheap.
Kotaku has been releasing quality write-ups on FFXVI since launch, and from most of the spaces I have seen them shared, Kotaku has only received hate for sharing many of the same sentiments I have regarding this game.
People are still hanging on to silly gamergate-era hate of Kotaku and get angry just seeing the name, and will go out of their way to argue why anything Kotaku says must be stupid and wrong. It’s wild.
The few times I post a Kotaku article, regardless of what it’s about, far too many folks just completely lose it screaming “click bait!” or completely blow off any points they might be making.
I was talking with a friend of mine who played the whole game last night, and they completely agreed with the idea that FF16 really had issues with how they handled slavery.
But oh wait, I forgot I can’t have an opinion because I didn’t play the game myself, as someone in here told me.
And people have said it to me too, but move the goalpost to requiring completion to critique. I stopped playing because it wasn’t enjoyable for me, and trust that I would hate it more if I had to deal with it longer than I did.
Overwatch has had an identity crisis since Jeff Kaplan left. It’s a husk of what it used to be and a disappointment of what it could be.
It was supposed to be tf2 with moba elements. But now it’s trying to be left4dead with moba elements. I think it would be better off to return to roots and just keep innovating on the character and weapons and skills.
Aftermath is the only gaming site I really pay attention to anymore. I still have Kotaku and PCGamer in my RSS reader, but I don’t really read any of their articles.
This is less a sign of “the devs don’t trust the player” and more just plain out bad game design. Maybe the game itself is very obvious (I don’t know, i haven’t played nor do I intend to), but this kind of thing is usually done when the game is obtuse and the developer wants a quickfix instead of actually reworking the entire thing. Then again, if your game is for little children and they can’t figure out how to play it, then there’s something fundamentally wrong with it and maybe you should go back to the drawing board.
