CluckN, do games w Jackbox Games coming to Smart TVs for free

It also released a Naughty Pack of more mature games though considering most players like to make the basic games rude, it’s unclear how popular these have been.

The Naughty pack was disappointing. 3 okay games for $20. 2 of them were games we’ve seen before. For $30 you could grab Party Pack 7 which is infinitely better.

jqubed,
@jqubed@lemmy.world avatar

I never pay full price for any of the games, they always have a few discounted and rotate through their full catalog eventually.

MeekerThanBeaker,

They also released The Jackbox Survey Scramble last year which was surprisingly fun.

simple,

This one I played. It’s a cool idea but many of the survey answers are just really stupid. I swear sometimes they just asked 14 y/o shitposters online instead of real people.

MeekerThanBeaker,

Yeah. I know what you mean. We still have fun playing it and just take it as it is.

Anyone can answer the questions at the main menu so maybe it’ll get better over time.

nevemsenki, do games w Crysis 4 put "on hold" as developer Crytek is next studio hit by layoffs

After the absolute trainwrecks of Crysis2 and 3, I’m not sure of this is a blessing or a curse.

ampersandrew,
@ampersandrew@lemmy.world avatar

Crysis 3 wasn’t a trainwreck. It wasn’t as good as Crysis 1, but few games are.

robdor,

I was so disappointed with crysis 2 I haven’t bothered with the series. The 1st was amazing and set up a great story.

Majorllama, do games w Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 hits 1m sales in just one day
@Majorllama@lemmy.world avatar

I know literally nothing about this game and I mostly play FPS or racing games. What even is this game and what does the actual gameplay look like? I don’t give a crap about stories as I always skip them. I just want to know what the actual gameplay loop consists of.

SwiggitySwole,

It’s a fairly realistic medieval adventure rpg, sword fighting is stance based and very hard, you also suck at everything to begin with because you start off as an illiterate blacksmiths son. The sequel is a continuation of his story. It’s pretty story focused but you can definitely have a ton of fun just wandering around stealing shit and fighting people if you want to, once you get good at stealing and fighting

Majorllama,
@Majorllama@lemmy.world avatar

Hmmmm… Sounds potentially interesting. I’m guessing I don’t have to have played the first one before I play the second one?

I’ll probably throw it on the ol wishlist and wait for a sale.

aksdb,

The second one gives you the necessary flashbacks to catch up if you should intend to follow the story. It also explains all the basics of the game mechanics as part of the quests.

Majorllama,
@Majorllama@lemmy.world avatar

Sounds intriguing. I’ll definitely check it out.

BlackLaZoR, do games w Black Myth: Wukong producer on The Game Awards top prize snub: "I came all the way here for nothing!"
@BlackLaZoR@fedia.io avatar

Game Awards lost any credibility at this point. Black Myth Wukong truly deserved the grand prize. I played the game and I believe it, both the concurrent steam players and sales numbers confirm it as well

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

Well is not a popularity contest, so sales number and number of players doesn’t count to the award, they won the player voice award that is a popularity contest.

warm, (edited )

The game awards is just an advertising show.

Like any awards show, the awards are completely subjective anyway, so it's completely pointless to even care about them, it's not like an old gaming magazine's recommendations.

BlackLaZoR,
@BlackLaZoR@fedia.io avatar

The game awards is just an advertising show

Then it should be called "The Advertising Show" instead

warm,

I agree, but people wouldn't willingly watch that :D

djsoren19,

It never had any credibility, no awards show does. It’s always a way for the richest and most powerful of an industry to jerk themselves off.

Maalus, do games w Employees at FromSoftware owner Kadokawa reportedly "thrilled" about possible Sony takeover

They buy it, make Bloodborne 2 and make it a PS exclusive, then disolve the company entirely as a giant “fuck you” to PC players.

Pika,
@Pika@sh.itjust.works avatar

you jest but this is honestly what is likely going to happen.

Maalus,

I’m not jesting, I know they will do it. Bloodborne is a literal goldmine. They could’ve ported to PC and swam in money. By now it’s probably too late to do that, most of the hype went away. But a Bloodborne 2? Yah.

The game released but afterwards due to a lawsuit over who owned the rights, development of additional content was halted. Which if you’re going to do the whole GaaS really puts a damper on things.

RagnarokOnline, do gaming w Sony reportedly prepping PlayStation 5 portable, plans to battle Nintendo's handheld dominance

Already do remote play through my phone with a backbone, so this would just give me a bigger screen, I guess

knokelmaat,

If all you want to do is remote play, the PlayStation Portal is already out and well received.

ClassifiedPancake, (edited )

But it only works in the same wifi.

knokelmaat,

I’m sorry, but that is just not true. Even 5g hotspot from smartphone allows people to have access to their PS5.

ClassifiedPancake,

You are right, the description on the product page is only talking about Home Wifi and playing at home. Which led me to believe it cannot be used remotely. Only when looking at the FAQ they clarify it can be used anywhere.

knokelmaat,

No problem, nice of you to correct your previous comment! Have a nice day :)

thingsiplay,

The Portal was definitely not well received. It was a marketing disaster and an embarrassment.

knokelmaat,

4/58/105/57/10

A lot of the initial criticisms have been fixed in further updates. Now the connection is very stable, works with outside networks. They just implemented PS Plus PS5 streaming (so without connecting to a console).

They are selling unexpectedly well.

It might not be your cup of tea, but I would hardly call this an embrasement.

thingsiplay,

Are you really cherry picking some big media outlets like IGN? It was another IGN moment where most peoples opinion did not match what IGN rated. They gave the Steam Deck 7/10…

At launch it was not well received, with many issues, being overpriced and the only compatible earphones being very expensive and not available too. It was an embarrassment through and through at launch across almost all media and users. I’ve read and watched reviews and opinions. You are not being honest here, as some of the biggest issues are fixed just recently and some over the course of 1 year since it launched.

@perishthethought@lemm.ee avatar

True and you can do that as many times as you like. But to really get to the ending, you are racing against the clock.

Mrfiddles,

!To be honest, I kind of wish they just hadn’t bothered with portraying the ending. They set up such cool lore, and I didn’t really need the avant-garde film at the end. A cut to credits would’ve been fine.!<

TachyonTele, do gaming w The world is ending but here's a side quest - will RPGs ever solve their urgency problem?

That’s why i love Metroid so much.
