Our demographic is dwarfed by the type of person who only plays 4 or fewer games per year. These people play Assassin’s Creed, Call of Duty, EA’s soccer game, GTA, etc. Call of Duty is one of the highest selling games each year because it sells to people whose only video game for the year is Call of Duty.
My gpu that I bought in 2021 came with a copy of cod cold war. And EVGA or Nvidia probably paid for that, I just didn’t.
I’m not really into cod games and never would have bought it, but now the outbreak zombie mode is something that my partner and some friends just do sometimes to hang out and talk online. We still haven’t beaten the easter egg boss though because of computer crashes and that if you drop from online mode you stupidly lose everything. Probably to avoid cheating.
That issue sucks, but the gamemode is fun. You just run around in a giant map doing challenges and leveling up weapons until you’re ready to push to the next level. Very self paced and potentially mindless. Great for talking over or relaxing.
Unfortunately, the cod player base is really split between the varying gamemodes, and each gamemode’s fanbase thinks they’re the most important one and that all the other gamemodes are bad and don’t matter.
and depending on your playstyle may require multiple playthroughs
I’m not too deep into undertale, since I only played it casually once, but aren’t there at least 2 endings that would require you to start completely over from the beginning? Meaning it would be literally impossible to get all endings without multiple playthroughs?
You could get two endings in one playthrough if you either chose to play a certain way, or had foreknowledge of one of either of the two extreme ending’s requirements.
I played this game years after its release, luckily without spoilers, but I had heard a LOT about it and how great it was.
It’s one of the very few instances of a game living up to its hype. Loved every second of it! The humour is always on point, gameplay is unique, soundtrack is on fire, and the story’s not bad either. I only had minor grievances with it, but nothing that made it drop below a 9/10 for me.
I never pre-order. I broke that rule exactly once and pre-ordered No Man’s Sky, boy did they make a fool out of me. Never again.
There are plenty of games I play that are on early access, the qualifier is whether the game is in a playable state and is fun to play (by account of online reviews or friend’s recommendations).
Exactly this. If it’s already fun, and especially if the early access price is good, then buying a somewhat janky game that will get better seems fine.
Just finished Alan Wake. Not what I expected from the game but overall interesting. Somewhat like the idea of making it like a TV Show. Short but story was decent.
Against the Storm. Its a roguelike colony builder where you’re trying to establish colonies and ship resources back to the queen before she loses patience with you.
Its not so roguelike that bad rolls ruin a run but also you have to deal with a bunch of fantasy races who each have their own needs.
THE ONLY REASON TO PREORDER IS TO ENSURE YOU HAVE A COPY ON LAUNCH.
Do you think they will run out of digital copies of you to download? (Just in case someone doesn’t know, that’s not how digital downloads work)
It’s that fucking simple. Pre-order bonuses are almost never worth it on their own, and even for those that are, you’re enabling and supporting a predatory/anti-consumer practice.
