I prefer roms and emulators above all else as I know that as long as I back them up I’ll be able to play them. Other than that I use steam for convenience as a linux only gamer but I’m all for gog and their DRM free stance.

As for physical. The hardware fails unless its a ps2 😄. So at the end you are left with a ton of discs and you Will have to rip them to play them. Also some games are just shipping unfinished on disc and need to download patches or whatever.

Grew up with tekken. Played MK and SF but found tekken better. Nowadays I find the ufc games to be the best fighting games. I gave up on tekken years ago after 5 or 6.

They are thinking we’ll turn all of those PS users into gamepass customers. We will ship the next console as a cheap SBC with a gamepass subscription. They solve piracy, manufacturing and shipping costs and bend the customers over a barrell in one move.

Sony will be forced to do away with discs too to stay competitive. MS will be able to claim they are multiplatform in the face of the legal issues and that they are for preservation because they will have a select few titles.

The players will own nothing and the prices will eventually increase.

Do yourself a favor and horde as many roms as you can now. Support gog and steam as alternatives to gamepass.

Just finished breath of the wild and hitman absolution. Went back to journey to the savage planet for the first time in ages. I also played some Mario tennis on citra.

I refuse to support streaming games or subscription models as they only screw the consumer in the end. These companies have shown time and time again they are not to be trusted.

Such as editing games after release to remove media, inserting shitty launchers and DRM , removing content you have paid for such as dlc, shutting off the multiplayer servers etc

Once they have the market streaming they can set the price as they wish and you will have to have mutiple subs to play different games. Were seeing this with movie and tv streaming now.

They don’t care about preservation just the CREAM … dollar dollar bill y’all

Valve is good for now and I support them to help further linux for us all but gaben is not immortal so who knows what the future holds.

I like gog but as a linux only gamer steam is just way less hassle.

Emulation and roms is the only way to be sure you can continue to play your games. So get building your collection.

Well I’m comfortable not buying any of theirs. They’re in my steam ignore list along with EA 🖕🖕

Ubisoft disable multiplayer in games like splinter cell and then have the nerve to charge you 20 ducats for a 10 year old game with only half the gameplay requiring a shitty launcher and with glaring bugs that they just didn’t bother to address.

As for the future. There is still emulation. So stock up 😉

I picked up GTA 4 , I was going to get rdr2 cyberpunk , hogwarts and sifu if they had hit the right price but I’ll leave it for a future sale. I picked up the mass effect trilogy earlier this year for 9.99 now its cheaper. I also picked up a humble spaced out bundle too recently so I have tons to keep me busy.

Warframe is a free alternative to destiny , its in steam and runs on linux. For those looking for that type of game. There is a warframe community on lemmy too.

And when it grows the games will only be on game pass and you will buy a thin client and own no games. They dont need to worry about anti trust as you can access it on any platform.

I still have to start the witcher 3. I’ve like 5 or 6 games on the go at the moment so it will be a while yet. I also plan to get cyberpunk goty or whatever edition for like 5 ducats in a future steam sale.
