  • NEO: The World Ends With You

    • I’ve only played TWEWY Final Remix on Switch recently. I find the control frustrating. Docked, it’s barely playable with joycon motion control, while undocked, it’s tiring, and my finger keeps obstructing the screen. The game also keeps interrupting you, very often when you moved between screens, and sometimes just halfway running, someone will just stop what you’re doing halfway for conversation that’s not that essential.
    • Now, this sequel has improved the gameplay part a lot. It still has problem with interruptions. But at least with proper controller support, this game is way better than its predecessor.
  • Immortality

    • This is very slow, not sure if I will eventually enjoy a 10 hour FMV mainly consists of clips not in proper order. Also, I prefer Her Story’s keyword search than this, because now I need to manually scrub the clips to the point of interests. So far I’m not enjoying the story as much, mainly because it’s about acting for now.
    • spoilerI know there’s some supernatural stuff in it
    • I can’t help but fantasize, what if the setting is sci-fi mystery, you scrub thru a number of CCTV, interviews, interrogations videos, about some weird alien / sci-fi murder. So far Immortality feels like a slog.

Katana ZERO. The fact that your character can fail and "die" and yet be able to control the flow of time to return and try again is not only contextualized through the game's lore and your character's usage of a drug, but becomes basically the entire story by the end of it. Brilliant game.

King’s Quest was the king of soft locks.

Yeah? How so? While I’ve numerous clips of that game I don’t think I’ve seen what you are referring to

There’s like 7 king’s quests.

tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/…/Sierra this is but a small sample of the pain that was old school Sierra

HidingCat,

Fuck Sierra games, it's why I gave up on them and played only Lucasarts point-and-click adventure games.

ripcord,
@ripcord@kbin.social avatar

Same although I didnt get into the lucasarts games until the 2000s. I played every Sierra game and love/hated them all not realizing there was a better way to live.

Any of the Sierra "X Quest" games. Space Quest, Police Quest... so many soft locks. I remember Police Quest had a soft lock that would trigger on the first day but wouldn't become apparent until day 3 or 4.

luthis, do piracy w What's the history behind cam rips of movies and where have they typically came from?

Some family friends brought back cam rips from Egypt of several Disney movies, Beauty and the beast, Aladdin, and a couple others.

They had strange ads for burgers in Arabic, and the cam was really low quality.

We didn’t really know any better being kids, so I always thought that Beauty and the Beast was a dark, terrifying, grainy, nightmarish movie.

Having seen the real version, I have to say the shitty cam copy stuck better in my mind.

Anyways, sorry I can’t answer any of your questions OP.

nestEggParrot,

That reminded of the shitty cam print of Iron Man 1. Started from the Humvee scene a minute before getting blown off. 20-30% was dark or pointed at floor for whatever reason. Godawful audio.

Thought it was a shitty movie halfway though and stopped. Got a good print after Iron man 2 released and faithfully watched all marvel release, many in cinemas, till Infinity war. Now its all available on Disney+ and I won’t watch the new ones after it.

Kissaki, do piracy w Guides / Apps for encoding
@Kissaki@feddit.de avatar

With ffmpeg

<span style="color:#323232;">ffmpeg -i src -c copy -map 0:v:0 -map 0:v:1 -map 0:a out.mkv
</span>

ffmpeg uses a sectioned parameter approach. Input parameters and input, optionally multiple, output parameters and output target.

In my example I specified copy as codec so the streams are copied as-is, without reencoding. I used map to map video streams 1 and 2 of the first input, and default/all audio streams.

The ffmpeg reference docs are thorough. The wiki has some more guide, example, and explanatory docs.

A Hat in Time has quite a spooky level in a swamp with a Deal with the Devil involved: www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIrPsJMRJmoI also suggest Little Nightmares if the little guy’s tougher than he looks: www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJ6Jcftf-c4

@Amphobet@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

If you want a handheld, Anbernic makes some good stuff. anbernic.com They do tend to load the SD card up with games beforehand, but the card is cheap & likely to fail, and the games are sorted & titled strangely (and may be otherwise dodgy). So you probably want to replace it with your own card with games you sourced yourself.

This looks very cool! Which one of these do you have? How modern games are you able to play with it? Is ps3 possible or rather not?

Amphobet,
@Amphobet@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

I have an RG353V. I got that one for the aesthetic (looks like an old gameboy), and I do like it, but I can see why people generally suggest a model with a horizontal form factor instead, since the vertical (gameboy shaped) is not very ergonomic. I mainly stick to 8 or 16-bit games. but it should be able to handle 5th gen consoles (saturn, ps, n64) just fine, but 6th gen (dc, ps2, gamecube) will depend on what game you’re running and may require tweaking the settings. ps3 is right out, I’m afraid.

Like I said, I mainly run older stuff, so double check what I’m saying if 5th and 6th gen games are important to you. I don’t really mess with those.

Haui,
@Haui@discuss.tchncs.de avatar

Thank you very much! I will definitely check it out. 5th gen would be awesome but 6th gen is very much optional. :)

leaky_shower_thought, do games w What games had easy soft locks that prevented you from either progressing or getting a true ending?

this one reminds me of Farcry 4. The one with Pagan Min.

if you just stay and be a good boy, you get a free trip to where you really wanted to go.

It’s easy to not do this because maybe the welcoming committee is not around anybody’s standards.
