cactusdreams,

Szxc, somebody’s playing codename 47!

I really enjoyed that game, back when it came out. Slightly regret trading away my copy, it’s got replay value.

@MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world avatar

I can agree with the replay value. I’ve just spent all day messing around with the nemesis system. There’s something satisfying about getting someone you branded all the way up to warlord. It almost feels like that’s your guy.

yakko,

Really? From what I recall, I genuinely felt enmity with my nemeses. It got ugly and vindictive.

you could like do other stuff or something.

you don’t actually have to game.

ok well i mean YOU do, but the rest of us are fine without it sometimes.

Judging by the CRT monitor at 18 and the LCD at 23, I assume OP is around 40 now. Maybe they just omitted the ~17 years worth of panels where they got out of the house and did something else.

EtnaAtsume,

Yeah I remember seeing this same image like… At least fifteen years ago. Even then it was considered pretty old.

HubertManne,

well over if they had a trubo button at ten. I would estimate upper forties like 47 but could be a bit younger. Under 45 and they were using some old stuff which would be wierd since that game system at 5 does not look atari. looks like an snes which would then make them 30 or so. I feel like lcd was gaining traction late oughts though which goes back to about 40.

KoboldCoterie,
@KoboldCoterie@pawb.social avatar

Pretty sure that’s an NES - look closely at the controller, it’s got the 2 red buttons which were pretty iconic. That’d suggest they were 5 between about 1985 and 1990, which suggests they’re 40-45 now.

HubertManne,

ok that makes it a bit more consistant. forty sumthin.

I haven’t got past the early game where you’re scraping the map for technology to build a little wooden house.

FordBeeblebrox,

It doesn’t help that 10 seconds into punching rocks for resources, a swarm of flying hunter bots shows up to try and kill you so now you’re running with 2% of the fuel you need

treep, do games w What are some good games to play while sick?

The last time I got really fucking sick and had to stay off work for two weeks I played a lot of “Sticky Business”.

You design and sell stickers. Its cute, chill, wholesome, scratches my creative itch, and is just distracting enough for all the being-sick stuff going on, but not so complicated as to trigger a headache.

Trail, do games w Where do you all get your (indie) gaming news from?

On that note, there was a site called ninja something as I recall about 10 years ago or so that I liked that would review and recommend indie games. I couldn’t find it recently. Anyone maybe knows or remembers what I am talking about?

Recently this channel came up in my feed. There’s a few like this, that will highlight interesting games on Steam that haven’t had much attention.

cccrontab, do games w Where do you all get your (indie) gaming news from?

tripleiris@peertube.wtf on Peertube covers indie games. They made a video of indie gems over the summer sale and the ones I tried were great.

chaogomu, do games w Where do you all get your (indie) gaming news from?

Kitfox games has a YouTube channel where they show off a bunch of their current and upcoming games. Often videos by the developer themselves.

I don’t have a more general type site.

SUPERJUMP is nonprofit, and they cover a lot of indie games.

Agent_Karyo,

This looks cool! Thanks for sharing.

PaupersSerenade, do games w Where do you all get your (indie) gaming news from?

I’ll shill up for skill up’s website that spun up from his ‘This Week in Gaming’. He has some great coverage on indie games and always dedicates a segment to ‘put this on your radar’.

Paul Tassi from Forbes also has some really good takes and sources in the industry for those AAA games.
