Purdue University still has a campus-only file sharing network called DTella that’s DC++. It been getting smaller, but there were a few members that shared 50+ TB at one point.
The frustrating part is that I have DAZN, but because they don’t have rights to all the competitions I’m interested in, I still have to pirate to watch them. If I had a menu and could choose competitions and even buy one-off games at-will (at a reasonable price), I wouldn’t resort to pirating at all for sports.
Edit: Also, Real-Debrid if you want to directly download any torrent instantly at your connection’s maximum bandwidth (up to 1Gbps) without having to wait for seeds. But this one costs money. (It’s worth it, though, especially if you’re downloading a lot of 50GB+ AAA games like I am.)
Simple, you replace your torrent client with it. Instead of opening a torrent file in QBittorrent or whatever, you go to the “torrents” section and paste the magnet link/open your torrent file there. Then select “convert” and then you can download the torrent directly from their servers. It’s kind of like a seedbox that everyone shares, so that you don’t have to wait for seeds so long as at least one person has added the file to Debrid before.
In the past, some publishers intentionally spread the fake game, where there were annoyances, or limits in the game, there was one where it bugged out or something when you came to the endboss, etc. The weird thing about this is that the p2p community just went with it, and there wasn’t a correct version much later on. Everybody just shared the faulty game.
Earthbound did that thing with the final boss. A pirated copy would have more enemies on the screen and it would also crash before the final boss
Game dev tycoon had a thing were the pirated version of the game would be harder as it was coded that pirates would steal the games you make. I thought that last one was absolutely genius lol. You can now toggle the pirate mode in the settings to experience it yourself.
Developers have been creatively messing around with pirates for decades now. Serious Sam had that invincible scorpion. Talos Principle had an elevator that didn’t actually go anywhere after playing the game for several hours.
Dungeon Master: Chaos Strikes Back had phantom sector copy protection that the game would periodically check to make sure the reads were random. If the checks were always the same, after a while, it would kill off your party, and not give you the option to reload. (You could still reboot the computer and reload that way.) I remember playing this game as a kid, with a pirated copy, because we were poor, but had good pirate connections. I figured out how to fool the system by taking out the disk when it was trying to read it, and only putting the disk back in when it really needed to load, like when I’m going up or down stairs. According to the pirates that finally cracked the protection, it was the hardest challenge they ever had.
Good idea with rutracker, I forgot about that site actually! It’s been ages since I’ve seen actual GTA IV and EFLC ISO installations for real, and download is reasonably fast too. Thanks again!
I have found that most torrents on rutracker are pretty well seeded in general, even the old and obscure ones. It is always the place I go when I can’t find something somewhere else.
That’s because Russians see the value in the collective good: everything for everyone. The majority of the globe just hits and runs on torrents because we got ours, fuck everyone else.
Whatbox (and a few other seedbox companies) offer seedboxes in the US. How can they do that without being immediately shut down? Do they have some kind of restrictions that could cause problems with using a US-hosted seedbox?
AFAIK they do honor DMCA removal requests so if you happen to load a public torrent there & receive a notice Whatbox staff will ask you to delete that data. You could contact their support on that if you’re not sure on their procedure.
How safe is paying via your real payment details?
I’ve only used crypto for those things. But presumably if you find a pre-paid credit card they accept you could buy it with cash & then pay the seedbox provider with that.
How safe is connecting via your real IP
The seedbox service itself is essentially a VPN so you either trust it, or you don’t. You could just as well ask how safe is it to connect to your VPN, or if you need to use another VPN to connect to your VPN :P
One thing to keep in mind is that seedbox services probably do log more data than the typical no-log VPN.
That’s not the total subscriber count. Sounds like you’re viewing the subscriber count from your specific instance at lemmy.sdf.org - The 3 subs you mention are subs from users at lemmy.sdf.org specifically.
To see the total subscriber count you’d have to view the communities home instance directly e.g.
I get 120fps in Elden Ring at medium, 2070, 64gb ram, i9-12900k.
Just got done with Armored Core, rock solid 144fps at medium all the way through, never a blip.
This runs at 30fps on lowest settings. It runs like absolute crap. It’s incredibly jarring to go from games that are gorgeous and well made with high performance to this thing running like something 20 years ago. Absolutely zero optimisation.
It will get a seriously negative response from the average pc user when user reviews start hitting due to this performance.
The most positive I’ve heard is that it is a by the numbers Bethesda rpg game. It doesn’t try to be anything more. If you liked fallout 4 and skyrim odds are you’ll like this.
They got rid of the dialogue wheel and went back to a list of options (influenced by character background / skills), so at least there’s that, I suppose.
I load the old 2014-2017 layout locally from my C drive as my localhost and proxy it to load when i type in youtube dot com. avoids ads, increases performance, and looks better as a layout all in one.
I sincerely doubt the 2017 API still works today. Apps like NewPipe have to update every month to keep up with it, and old YouTube mobile app versions don’t work anymore.
Until today I haven’t seen an ad on YT, for years. Then I searched for a video, clicked, and got an ad. Clicked off the video, restarted the browser (also updated uBlock’s filters), and that fixed it.
Edit: I wrote this and got another ad. No video, just the audio.
One click hosters are pretty popular in Germany, so you will find lots of German stuff hosted one one of these. The most popular ones right now are rapidgator and ddownload. You will need special websites and forums for finding the links, though.
Hehe. I figured it’s alright per the rules. And it’s not my job to censor myself but the mods’ job. Also Lemmy belongs to the people and not some large corporation.
Well telegram has most of the stuff you need , just search in its search bar Music download bot , and boom you get a bot downloading music for u. Movies , no problem , just type the name and download the movie !
Z-library has a good Telegram bot. All you have to do is register on their site and then create your own bot which you then connect to Zlibrary. They have a handy guide here en.zlibrary-za.se/z-access#telegram_bot_tab
I’ve been told that in Telegram you can find bots to download music from Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Deezer. Probably Spotify too, but those are the ones I know.
Depending on the bot you might not know where the audio is coming from. Most tools I know of download from youtube and add metadata (title, album, artist, …) but sometimes also include noise from a music video.
