Definitely seen it before… even probably 20+ years ago. Know nothing about them though. It’s honestly a pretty generic name. What’s the real question?

Seeing somebody play a game is piracy?

aPirate,

Yeah its unfortunate that copyright law is abused so easily and often. Seems like it depends from case to case, one time its fine the next its not.

Wow. I can’t thank you enough, I had no idea that existed.

Kribensis,

~~I’ll humbly ask one more thing. This is fine on desktop with Brave, but on iOS with any browser or stream, I can’t avoid a VPN popup. Anything I can do to troubleshoot? I do have a content blocker. ~~

Works with Brave iOS.

brickfrog, w Sonarr/Radarr, is this still a thing?

Automation apps have gotten more popular over the years so yes, they are still a thing.

Sonarr/Radarr are the most popular ones but there are others too. Most work with torrents and usenet but you’d need to check the individual projects to be sure.

MonkCanatella,

fucking lemmy man, wrote out awhole ass answer to this and got deleted. god fucking dammit.

welp. here goes again.

headphones is a monthly subscription and not that great, not worth it at all.

lidarr is garbage and the folks around it are assholes. you iether love it and froth at the mouth when someone says they’re having trouble with it, or you hate it. It also is a fucking resource hog like I’ve never seen. MAJOR memory leaks

I use Roon and Qobuz, and Nicotine+ for stuff that isn’t on Qobuz. qobuz-dl is really robust and awesome and can do anything you want lidarr to do: just maintain a list of artists in a document, and qobuz-dl will automatically download anything new as it keeps track of what’s already been downloaded before.

The Roon folks are just as bad as the Lidarr folks. This shit costs $7-800 for a lifetime license and it does’t even include ANY music streaming. It’s just a music server and manager. And they don’t actually have tech support. Literally if you go to their support page, they direct you to a fucking forum full of morons high on the koolaid (bc honestly you have to be if you invested $700 on a shitty music player), tell you to get lost if you don’t like a program with bugs up the ass.

I would love to make an open source offering that does what roon does but also allows you to automatically download stuff using qobuz-dl, tidal-dl, bandcamp-dl, etc.

Are you willing to share the spreadsheet you have so far? Or maybe sticky it to your new community? It would be nice to have a way to verify/review the providers posting on the community provide what they claim.

JoeCoT,
@JoeCoT@kbin.social avatar

The spreadsheet of verified info on iptv providers would be far more useful than a lemmy community where random providers can post.

palmdale,

Community is good for further discussion but agreed I mostly want to see the spreadsheet.

XpeeN, (edited )

Verified vendors, but yeah the spreadsheet will be great

burnt_toast, (edited )
@burnt_toast@lemmy.opensupply.space avatar

I understand why you think that might be the case, but I’ve set up the community such that you can’t create a post unless you are approved by an admin. Approval here means that your service needs to be vetted before you can post. The whole point is to find quality providers and share reviews, if we allow anyone to post, the community would be overrun by low effort spammers in no time.

Also, see this comment on why I’m hesitant to share the spreadsheet.

Agreed. The problem with these sorts of IPTV lists is they get spammed to hell with questionable providers/resellers

burnt_toast,
@burnt_toast@lemmy.opensupply.space avatar

I’m a little hesitant to post the spreadsheet, since most top-tier providers don’t want their information posted publicly. I reached out to each provider to ask them if they would be willing to have their service listed, what you see in the community are the providers who are comfortable posting publicly. A few more (about 6) will be posting soon, the rest have really poor quality (you can find these guys on the first page of google) and have been rejected from the community.

The community also allows providers to post updates, subscribers can discuss and give feedback, which in turn helps other folks. I think building a good quality repository of community contributions will pay off long term.

OurMoneyIsBroken,

Please share whatever you can. Especially interested in the 4k low lag services. 🙏

brickfrog, w Some noob questions about seedboxes

May also want to try !seedboxes and !seedboxes

Whatbox (and a few other seedbox companies) offer seedboxes in the US. How can they do that without being immediately shut down? Do they have some kind of restrictions that could cause problems with using a US-hosted seedbox?

AFAIK they do honor DMCA removal requests so if you happen to load a public torrent there & receive a notice Whatbox staff will ask you to delete that data. You could contact their support on that if you’re not sure on their procedure.

How safe is paying via your real payment details?

I’ve only used crypto for those things. But presumably if you find a pre-paid credit card they accept you could buy it with cash & then pay the seedbox provider with that.

How safe is connecting via your real IP

The seedbox service itself is essentially a VPN so you either trust it, or you don’t. You could just as well ask how safe is it to connect to your VPN, or if you need to use another VPN to connect to your VPN :P

One thing to keep in mind is that seedbox services probably do log more data than the typical no-log VPN.

akwd169,

Those two communities have 3 subs total, and two of them are me (just subbed now)

brickfrog,

That’s not the total subscriber count. Sounds like you’re viewing the subscriber count from your specific instance at lemmy.sdf.org - The 3 subs you mention are subs from users at lemmy.sdf.org specifically.

To see the total subscriber count you’d have to view the communities home instance directly e.g.

BROMETHIUS, w Now you have to pay to see lyrics on spotify

Does anybody know of an alternative app that can do live lyrics?

buskbrand,

Spotube.

Note that it’s not really a Spotify streaming app, rather it uses your (free) Spotify account for playlists, search, recommendations, etc. and then goes and find the song you want to play on YouTube, and the lyrics from scraping websites I think. Pretty clever.

pipes,

It’s all about having the .lrc file, it gets read automatically (as long as it’s named like the song file) by mpv player and many android players.

It’s a simple text file containing the lyrics with timestamps. You can get them from deezer for example with certain downloaders. Or look for them on Soulseek.

WoodenDing,

Yup. Recently let a foobar extension run through my music library and download .lrc’s. Now I can read them with Poweramp on my phone.

ArcRay,

Googles YouTube music just got updated for live lyrics.

chemsed,

It’s out of sync and I don’t know how to scroll manually when it happens.

lud,

The lyrics source that Spotify uses is free with a few caveats, like ads. The normal synced lyrics are free though.

The source is musixmatch and they have a floating lyrics window on Android which is neat.

rgb3x3,

Tidal. I use it because Id gotten tired of Spotify and YouTube Music’s BS

CapnAssHolo,

I just use Shazam for that
