What is it with clowns like this digging their heels in and blaming literally anything but the precious MBAs that are plaguing and ruining literally everything about modern society.
In the comment you replied to they meant video game development companies by “developers” not the individual employees at those companies who do the actual work of developing games. Typically the actions of video game development companies are driven by the MBAs who have most of the big picture decision making power rather than the individual employees who develop the games.
Bruh… Developing is a job. Hello? You ever have a job before? The developers don’t just work for there selves? Knock knock who’s there? Oh nobody, just, ya know a BOSS… Ya mighta heard of it? No, I don’t mean the movie Boss Baby
Everyone in this thread is failing to understand that “developers” in this context can mean both “people who develop videogames” and “businesses that develop videogames.” As the people who develop videogames are not always the ones who make decisions like this at businesses that develop videogames those two different things that everyone is using the same word for often have opposing positions on the matter.
so whenever your boss tells you to do something you think is not the correct course of action you just quit right? you just leave your job without having another one lined up and probably risk losing your home, all because your boss told you to this thing you find annoying, you don’t have a choice to work or not work, the choice is to work or starve, which is not a choice.
even if they do hate it and consider it to be the work of the devil, they still don’t really have a choice, game development is a really competitive industry, if devs aren’t leaving their jobs when the studio makes them overwork 80 hour work weeks right before release for a month in order to hit the deadline then they’re definitely not leaving just because they hate having to implement denuvo.
Nah the Devs definitely get forced to use Denuvo by corporate… Stockholders and such. Denuvo gets advertised as the best anti piracy method and stockholders see that and say I want that in our game.
I’ve never used the free tier on Spotify and I don’t understand how anyone can. The ads alone would make me throw off my headset in disgust. So yeah, not going to affect me, and I do enjoy reading the lyrics a lot.
That said, I am experimenting with swapping over to Apple Music because I feel Spotify has become too expensive.
I recently flipped to apple music and apart from seeing a few songs missing on albums i don’t really listen to anyway, it’s only been an improvement. the lossless audio is quite nice
The ads alone would make me throw off my headset in disgust.
For a mobile, there is a modded apk,I’ve never heard ads there. For a PC, web player in Firefox with uBlock Origin, there are no ads at all there. The same goes for Tidal, I’ve never paid for these apps.
Well, that’s very specific case to be honest. In that case you can just download whatever you want beforehand, from soulseek, for instance. Generally people make preparations in advance for such things.
Zotify works very well at downloading Spotify lists, from playlists to whole discographies. You have to sort the output a little as you’ll often get multiple copies of tracks due to remastered editions, songs released as singles etc. But overall it’s an incredibly easy way to download music.
spotx - well, I tried, but honestly, I don’t need one more app especially when everything works in the browser. Plus, I prefer portable setups and there’s no portable version of spotx, so, it’s pretty useless for me.
It’s explicitly said on the Spowlo GitHub page that they use YouTube for downloading, so, there’s no way to get 320 kbps tracks or flacs. Instead, I’d recommend to try some Qobuz/Deezer-based solutions, there are quite a few of them there. Or use slavart or something like this, or good old soulseek, there’s even an Android client for it.
Most people don’t pirate stuff on their phones. I use an iPhone and my hundreds of gigabytes of pirated stuff is available on my iPhone via plexamp/plex/etc.
They were so much more expensive than Pandora when I tried them out and the free tier was too awful to want to reward them with my money, so I did pay but it went to a competitor. Their music recommendations were terrible compared to Pandora, too.
I don’t use Pandora now though, they got bought by SiriusXM who I will never pay again after they made cancelation such a difficult process.
With xManager, the free tier comes quite close to premium. No ads, play whatever music you like. The only issues are lower sound quality & no downloads, which are really non-issues since you can just find other sources to download the music from, at flac quality
Why not opt for FOSS, self-hosted options such as jellyfin? Geniune question, as servers and storage are relatively cheap, and in combination with the arr suite you can easily have a decent catalog without tol much effort.
Recently ditched subscription services because of non-stop price hikes. Now I’m on Navidrome with a VPS and using Ultrasonic on my Android for mobile and Android Auto listening. For music, I turn to good old Soulseek and Telegram bots.
Never going back. The control and savings make it all worth it.
I remember back in the windows 7 days I had discovered Sandboxie that helped me a great deal. At the time my concern was the browser as javascript was just picking up and the engines to run it were all focusing on performance only. I don’t remember having to compile it manually, but that might actually be the safest way to ensure you don’t get a compromised installer.
Sorry for the stupid ask… but where would I change DNS settings for data connection on stock Android (OnePlus OxygenOS)? I just spent 10min looking but can’t find a setting that would allow me to setup DNS config.
Yeah, it was the same for me. I loved playing the demo on the PS3 back in the days. You can actually get it from key resellers which is what I did. However, I think they sell for about 80€ or so which is insane. I thought it was expensive when I bought it for 30€.
When I started to get into private trackers I did the following, which worked out really well in my case:
Basic research (back then mostly via re*dit) on what the most popular trackers are and select the ones I want to join
Be prepared that being part of private trackers also means that one has to contribute back to the community by seeding
Hang out in their irc or discord channels and either wait for open invites or just be nice to other people and get invites from them (just trying to be part of the community)
be patient, it took a few days to get into the first one and after a month or two I was already in all of the trackers I wanted to be in
It was actually not much effort, I had to go through only one interview which was easy to prepare for and not very challenging. All in all it was definitely worth it and I’m glad I brought up that little bit of patience
Get a 2tb HDD and download all the freeleech torrents and then seed forever. Most private trackers have a bonus system which you get for long-term seeding. Eventually you use bonus points for upload.
Work your way up on the rankings until you are high enough to get into the invite forums. Repeat the process until you get into all the top tier trackers (who never have open signups)
