MonkCanatella,

Right on, finally coming to PC. Now we just need GOW

The Elder Scrolls VI Is at Least Five Years Away, and Is Likely to Launch on PC, Xbox Series X|S Only (wccftech.com) angielski

Despite previous reports revealing the game's 2026 release window, The Elder Scrolls VI is at least five years away and is likely to release, unsurprisingly, only on PC, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S....

MonkCanatella,

I think they were kinda in the right place at the right time and accidentally released some classics lol.

MonkCanatella,

I’ve already set starfield aside lol. Glad for the people who are enjoying it but meh. Maybe it’ll be better in a year or after the modding community finishes it

MonkCanatella,

my thoughts exactly. I said earlier they kinda accidentally made a masterpiece and have coasted since then

Spider-Man 2's Ray Tracing Feature Always On (www.techpowerup.com) angielski

Developers at Insomniac Games have confirmed that Spider-Man 2's ray tracing feature will be running as standard/by default within the PlayStation 5 version—a player's adjustments of graphical performance settings will have no bearing on this being turned on or off. Mike Fitzgerald, Insomniac's director of core technology,...

MonkCanatella,

Love Insomniac so much. Not many companies have such a stellar track record. And there’s never been a single mtx in any of their games that I’ve played.

MonkCanatella,

There’s also steam workshop. Neither are shining examples of a free modding community. I think nexus mods starting out better and slowly enshittified but I don’t know the extent of it.

MonkCanatella,

steamworkshopdownloader.io never gotten this to work myself but I put the least amount of effort in as possible. There may be others as well but I remember when I did my research a couple years ago that it was a real trudge and almost not worth it.

MonkCanatella,

Same thoughts I had. Looks pretty good though regardless. I just wish we could get a real PoP game with next gen tech.

Can I override Sonarr season numbers angielski

I’m trying to finish grabbing a show, but Sonarr says the final season is #3, while the rest of the internet (i.e. torrent sites) says that season is #5. It looks like the first 2 seasons were split up into 1/2 seasons when originally shown. So while Sonarr is looking for Season 3, it’s finding the first half of what it...

MonkCanatella,

Honestly just don’t use it for everything. Sometimes the Metadata isn’t good. That plus being highly opinionated makes some niche cases not suitable for sonarr

MonkCanatella,

It’s just old. People talked about it back when it came out. POE I think gets recognized because it’s free to play (with DLC/MTX). I’ve played every ARPG under the sun and Last Epoch is one of the best I’ve ever played. It feels like the real successor to Diablo II

MonkCanatella,

It’s so funny how people who have no idea about linguistics/communications have such strong know-it-all attitudes about how people communicate. Remember the phenomenon of vocal fry? All the youtube vids like “i discovered this thing that millennial wimmin do and once you notice you’ll HATE IT.” and they just describe vocal fry which is just an absolutely normal part of speech and done by men just as much as women.

MonkCanatella,

Give it a try on the high seas. I did and I ended up buying it because it really is that good. I never interacted with a cash shop in my entire time playing

MonkCanatella,

Encumbrance is supposed to provide a type of challenge, and realism. Though how realistic is carrying more than like, one extra weapon really? Also, it is a weird thing to get hung up on for “realism’s” sake. The best possible argument for encumbrance is forcing players to make choices. In roguelikes for example, you very often only get to choose from a limited number of rewards. In that sense it’s really fun, but you cannot go back on your choice. With encumbrance, if you must, you can keep all your rewards, but it’s just very tedious to do so. So instead of forcing the choice and creating dynamic gameplay, most likely you’re just forcing the player to do some tedious shit. Roguelikes deal with the hording mentality much better than a traditional RPG.

Another thing to note about encumbrance, is that there’s just so much random garbage you can pick up in these games. Someone else mentioned that in real table top rpg, you’re not picking 100 wheels of cheese cuz they might come in handy later. I think it’s honestly just filler content, and doesn’t really add to the game aside from the fact that if you couldn’t pick up that wheel of cheese, you’d feel slightly cheated. I wouldn’t call it lazy game development, but I think “loot” as a gameplay element has a lot of evolving to do. It feels good to get loot, but so often it has to be padded out to feel like you’re actually getting anything. You have to receive it often enough. It has to give some benefit or it just feels like window dressing. That’s a fine line that very few games handle very well at all.

MonkCanatella,

Right, at the very least it’d add a gameplay element to the tedium. Or maybe your character refuses to pick up random shit unless they have the right abilities/training. Or like in skyrim where you can’t see the characteristics of certain plants you pick up until you’ve leveled up in a certain field enough, but instead of not showing the alchemical properties, the item itself isn’t fully detailed - like it’ll just look like a generic mushroom, or a generic sword/gun/etc. And a player with very high skills in certain areas would unlock different characteristics of that item.

MonkCanatella,

Exactly! It totally break the realism when your character doesn’t need regular bathroom breaks. That’s why I only play the sims.

MonkCanatella,

lol, 3 years into the current gen and switch 2 only competes. Seriously

MonkCanatella,

Are there any games akin to the first Splinter Cell? Where there’s no run n gun option? I played one of the more recently released ones and at the end it’s just basically a giant firefight and it kinda loses the thread of the original.

MonkCanatella, (edited )

I have a script I used to auto download new stuff from my subscriptions using yt-dlp. I never watch videos on youtube anymore because it’s just garbage, buffering all the time or just straight up not playing content. The only thing I miss is sponsor block but I don’t care that much

here’s instructions on setting the script up if you’re interested

MonkCanatella,

reddit.com/…/auto_download_latest_youtube_videos_…

I’ll make an updated lemmy post as well but for now it’s an old reddit post of mine. There’s also some great alternatives that I think are easier to set up if you don’t mind managing a separate subscriptions list - I made this script specifically because none of the options I’d seen were able to take your subscriptions from youtube and check them.

May be worth trying to set up with one of the alternative youtube frontends that have been popping up so you can use those accounts. I think it depends on if yt-dlp allows it as that’s what’s doing all the work here.

MonkCanatella,

I have the script running every five minutes so I get a desktop notification telling me there’s a new video downloaded and by who. It takes some time for the sponsorblock segments to show up

MonkCanatella,

fucking lemmy man, wrote out awhole ass answer to this and got deleted. god fucking dammit.

welp. here goes again.

headphones is a monthly subscription and not that great, not worth it at all.

lidarr is garbage and the folks around it are assholes. you iether love it and froth at the mouth when someone says they’re having trouble with it, or you hate it. It also is a fucking resource hog like I’ve never seen. MAJOR memory leaks

I use Roon and Qobuz, and Nicotine+ for stuff that isn’t on Qobuz. qobuz-dl is really robust and awesome and can do anything you want lidarr to do: just maintain a list of artists in a document, and qobuz-dl will automatically download anything new as it keeps track of what’s already been downloaded before.

The Roon folks are just as bad as the Lidarr folks. This shit costs $7-800 for a lifetime license and it does’t even include ANY music streaming. It’s just a music server and manager. And they don’t actually have tech support. Literally if you go to their support page, they direct you to a fucking forum full of morons high on the koolaid (bc honestly you have to be if you invested $700 on a shitty music player), tell you to get lost if you don’t like a program with bugs up the ass.

I would love to make an open source offering that does what roon does but also allows you to automatically download stuff using qobuz-dl, tidal-dl, bandcamp-dl, etc.

Guide: The idiot proof guide to downloading ebooks off IRC. With Pictures and everything! angielski

I’m putting this together because I posted a while ago about using IRC to acquire ebooks on Reddit, and there was a metric shit ton of interest from others in learning how to do it. Much of this info is available on the net, but it can be difficult to track down if you don’t know exactly what to look for....

MonkCanatella,

Agreed, and I have found some things that IRC and libgen/anna’s archive didn’t have. Then again a lot of the difficult to find epubs are extremely cheap but even so I would rather own the thing than have some shitty drm version that only allows my to use kindle or whatever

MonkCanatella,

Yes so if you can’t find it anywhere, it’s almost certainly a really cheap niche ebook that can be had for cheap, just stay away from the DRM bookstores and I’m sure you’ll be glad you did.

Though I will say, de-DRMing your ebook is not for the faint of heart. Firstly Claibre doesn’t support it anymore so you have to through some somewhat difficult to trust back channels and yeah it’s a whole thing that I’d rather avoid it altogether.

Though if you find it trivial yourself, you would do us all a great good if you made a step by step guide for your mateys
