And I enjoyed both, so I’m eagerly waiting for this one.

A first look at Core Decay's third major city hub [Devblog] (community.coredecay.com) angielski

Core Decay is an upcoming indie first-person action role-playing video game developed by Ivar Hill and Slipgate Ironworks, and published by 3D Realms. Described as a “philosophical sci-fi adventure”, the game takes inspiration from classic 1990s shooters Descent, Deus Ex and System Shock.

Hopefully they release it on GOG…

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

Phantom Fury was listed but they decided not to publish on GOG mere days before release. They thankfully changed their mind a couple of days ago, a bit more than a month after the release.

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

No idea, it happened right afer 3D Realms went from Embracer to Saber.

@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

Ditto but for Gadgetbridge on Android :)

Dead Games News: Response from UK Government (www.youtube.com) angielski

From the videos description: News on what the UK government response means on the issue of game destruction by publishers! It’s not all awful, just most of it! Also, some news on how the campaign to end game destruction is going internationally. Relevant links below:...

N64 for me, I’ll always remember my first all-nighter playing Super Mario 64 on Christmas.

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

I’ll wait for the GOG release, I have Control there already.

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

What’s the point of paying for early access if need to pay again when it’s stable?

Early access users took a gamble of paying a low price for a likely buggy game, that might evolve over time through user’s feedback and that has a possibility of failing and never come out of early access.

Asking for the early access users to buy the game at full price is a slap on the face.

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

So the gameplay style can be quite diverse, now my interest is piqued.

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

Privacy-wise sure, but feature-wise it has some work to do.

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

I’m all in for the return of actual game expansions.

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

Honestly I’m really thrilled to play the update tonight.

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

I bought the first one on GOG, I’ll wait for the second one to show up there for now.

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

Already played that one :)

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

That’s kinda of the charm of the game, like Ion Fury.

mp3, (edited )
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

Yeah, not even a clue to the game type it will be. Not putting it in my wishlist at this stage.

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

Because more players will leave the queue by closing the ads in disgust.

I dunno, with that TPM 2.0 requirements some still perfectly capable computers won’t be able to run Windows in 2025, at least not one that is kept up-to-date. That’s gonna generate some e-waste in many companies who can’t switch to Linux on a whim.

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

The thing businesses want the most is support, and with Windows 10 being EOL in 2025 and Windows 11 requiring a TPM 2.0 to be officially supported, if they encounter a large-scale issue and they’re running an unsupported configuration they’ll get a tough luck response from Microsoft Support.

MULLET MAD JACK is my kind of boomer-shooter, and the visual style is interesting.

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

Playing through my backlog, and finally gathered enough courage to play and finish Soma, and now I’m going through the Turing Test since I felt in the mood for a Portal-like game and I finished the Entropy Center not long ago.

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

Oh I completed that one a long time ago, I haven’t bought the second one yet.

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

Ohh haven’t heard of Spectrum Retreat, I’ll take a look thanks :)

Some retro-gaming with my son using two bluetooth gamepads and RetroArch on the Chromecast with Google TV.

Easy to carry in the luggage, and no Internet required.

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

Oh well, at least I now have the base game.

@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

My oldest kid (6yo) is currently having fun with Goat Simulator ¯_(ツ)_/¯ and yes, I bought the expansions.

He doesn’t play online yet, but I have Minecraft on the PS4 so that may be an option later on.

Other options I can think of that would be appropriate and multiplayer

  • Rocket League
  • Fall Guys
  • Party Animals
  • Portal 2
  • Astroneer
  • Human Fall Flat
mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

The GOG version is great for that.

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

There goes one of my favorite co-op game :(

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

It does means that some legacy games that are only available in 32-bit binaries will no longer work though.

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

realistic graphics don’t always matter. What’s more important is that the game finds an appealing and consistent visual identity.

I do enjoy some good gameplay, but I also appreciate when the game looks good too

Starfield group fixing Bethesda's bugs say their job is tough as mods feel an afterthought (www.eurogamer.net)

“What’s more frustrating for those working on SCP, and the wider Starfield modding community, is how difficult it is to work with Starfield’s code without official modding tools and support. This isn’t helped by the delayed mod tools from Bethesda, which the company says are coming at some point next year.”

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

feel an afterthought

It’s not a feeling, it is an afterthought

Is there some kind of DRM/authentication scheme in certified controllers, or is it just looking at the device VID/PID?

If not then third-party controllers could just offer a firmware update to spoof the vendorID and productID.

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

I never played and I don’t see myself playing now as I probably missed a lot of storyline and lore that is long gone.

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

I didn’t really encounter any game breaking bugs, but I’m glad they’re readjusting the timers for the car retrieval missions from El Capitan. The time allocated was sometime ridiculous, for example having 1m30s to drive 3km from downtown in dense traffic…

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

I’m surprised Starfield isn’t in the announcement list, considering AMD sponsored the game to promote their tech.

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

You can also blame Bethesda for taking the money too.

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

And like the Nintendo DS Lite, it’s gonna be cheap plastic at the hinge that will crack over time.

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

For games where you need to drive some sort of vehicle I do prefer a controller for the joystick and analog triggers, but anywhere you need to aim at something I prefer a KB+M.

I’d like to try some kind of hybrid setup to have the best of both. I stumbled upon the Hex Evo some time ago, but it’s still in preorder phase and I don’t want to buy into something cheap or that’s going to get abandoned, and maybe the final product will look more polished but the footage I could find of it, it looked like a cheaply 3D-printed device which doesn’t look that great, but it’s probably just a prototype.

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

I’m okay if they label it as early access, at least you know you might be getting a streaming pile of shit that may or may not improve

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

I wouldn’t mind seeing this in a Cyberpunk 2077 update :3

I love how the cyberwares and crafting systems were revamped so that you can’t really become godlike too easily.
