I cut my teeth on games when being balls hard was the standard. I paid my dues. Nowadays I just put them on easy (and use save states for old games).

samus12345,

I just never did PvP in the first place.

DK loves the bananas!

It’s never made sense.

Why is Mario still young when Cranky Kong, the original Donkey Kong, is old?

samus12345,
@samus12345@sh.itjust.works avatar

Many make-believe things do need to make sense to actually be enjoyable. Not Donkey Kong games, though.

Nintendo isn’t consistent in their own games, so it doesn’t matter either way. Mario and Luigi race with baby versions of themselves!

I guess Partners in Time would be when the time travel was discovered! Conveniently explains child Pauline as well, I suppose. Well, the “how,” but not the “why.”

I was 22 when Half-Life came out. I’m tired.

samus12345,

I had to settle for Lego Dimensions. Better than nothing. And GLaDOS arguing with HAL 9000 was pretty epic.

samus12345,
@samus12345@sh.itjust.works avatar

For the puzzle part, sure, but not the humor. I like The Stanley Parable for that aspect.

It walked so the Steam Deck could run.

samus12345,

They said they “played” 23% of the games, not “completed.”

samus12345,
@samus12345@sh.itjust.works avatar

Better if they don’t, as they don’t deserve people’s money.

samus12345,
@samus12345@sh.itjust.works avatar

There are Steam exclusives, but it’s because the publisher chose it to be that way, not because of any incentive by Valve.

the writer’s WiiU

I’m assuming this is an autocorrect, but I can’t figure out what the word is supposed to be.

Borderlands 3 sold over 20 million, that’s pretty significant even if it is less than 2. The overall quality has certainly gone downhill, but sales is all the companies care about. In my experience boycotts by people who know what’s going on behind the scenes never amount to anything - it’s always the potential buyers who don’t know or care about that stuff that ultimately determine whether a game’s successful or not.

samus12345,
@samus12345@sh.itjust.works avatar

Oh, thanks for the clarification! Never heard anything about that before.

samus12345,
@samus12345@sh.itjust.works avatar

You can run non-Steam games on the Steam Deck as well.

samus12345,
@samus12345@sh.itjust.works avatar

No original ones do considering there’s no disc slot, but you can play whatever they choose to drip-feed you via NSO if you pay for the Expansion Pack subscription.

Or you can play every GameCube game on Steam Deck with improved visuals for free.

Playing portably, mouse-based games run pretty well. Games that use a lot of keyboard keys are where it gets difficult without using an actual keyboard.

samus12345,
@samus12345@sh.itjust.works avatar

Video game companies are going all-in on seeing just how greedy they can be and get away with it. I’m curious to see just how much consumers will put up with.

samus12345,
@samus12345@sh.itjust.works avatar

You can, although I really don’t think there’s anything wrong with just downloading the game, especially considering it’s not being sold anywhere.

samus12345,
@samus12345@sh.itjust.works avatar

You chose a spectacularly bad time to switch to consoles.

It made more sense if you grew up with the evolution of the controller. SNES - L and R are the left and right buttons on the top. PS1 - L2 and R2 are the buttons behind the left and right buttons on the top. PS1 dualshock - L3 and R3 are the left and right sticks being pressed in.

These were mine:

The controller that came with the Atari 5200 was complete ass. That third-party one was much, much better.

samus12345,
@samus12345@sh.itjust.works avatar

They were able to do that because Palworld is made by Japanese devs, and they used specifically Japanese patent law. Doesn’t apply here.

samus12345,
@samus12345@sh.itjust.works avatar

It also works with romhacks if the code isn’t changed too much. Ducktales 2 co-op works like a charm!

$9 on sale, but $15 normally.

Day 341 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I've been playing

Today’s game is Ocarina of Time (my all time favorite Zelda game). Playing Mario Kart 64 yesterday had me in the mood to play this again. So i downloaded Ship of Harkinian and set it up along with a OoT 3D graphics mod that took longer to download than it should have. It looks really good. I have it upscaled to max resolution...

Nintendo is just really good at making water i guess.

The first game that really wowed me with its water was Wave Race 64, so this tracks. I first noticed that home consoles were getting better graphics than arcades when I saw WaveRunner’s water compared to Wave Race. It was really a “writing on the wall” moment for seeing the end of the arcade.

I’m a filthy Switch pirate and I only knew of the name. I didn’t know what it was exactly or how it worked until the recent reporting about it.

samus12345,
@samus12345@sh.itjust.works avatar

Yup, I have a modded Erista. Will update the firmware for Metroid Prime 4 and then I probably won’t be playing anything new after that on it.

samus12345,
@samus12345@sh.itjust.works avatar

There’re fewer weird people.

samus12345,
@samus12345@sh.itjust.works avatar

Killed the franchise so much that the original game has been remastered twice, the second game once, and a TV series has been made out of it…?

samus12345,
@samus12345@sh.itjust.works avatar

I wasn’t saying you were wrong, just adding a further correction.

samus12345,
@samus12345@sh.itjust.works avatar

I imagine most game IPs wish they could be as killed off as TLOU.

samus12345,
@samus12345@sh.itjust.works avatar

You could just put it in airplane mode to get the same effect.

samus12345,
@samus12345@sh.itjust.works avatar

You’re blocking for that? Your block list must be huge!

samus12345,
@samus12345@sh.itjust.works avatar

Every Mario Kart except World is playable on PC…but of course the online is far more limited since the pool of players is much, much smaller.

samus12345,
@samus12345@sh.itjust.works avatar

You don’t, unless there are unofficial servers to connect to. This hypothetical console is banned anyway, so you’re being forced to pirate to actually use it.

samus12345,
@samus12345@sh.itjust.works avatar

If it’s a “prime piracy machine,” you play new games by downloading them off the internet and transferring them to the console.

samus12345,
@samus12345@sh.itjust.works avatar

Right, but the OP said being unable to go online to update the firmware made it a prime piracy machine. It follows that it has to be jailbroken to qualify as such.

samus12345,
@samus12345@sh.itjust.works avatar

In that case, airplane mode is a better option.

samus12345,
@samus12345@sh.itjust.works avatar

Sony made the Pro and no one cared.

A $700 console upgrade is niche, and they know that.
