Oh that’s one I haven’t heard in a while, maybe I’ll give it a shot too, thanks!
I have not gotten cloudstream to work
For the extensions you mean?
I successfully got them from cloudstream[dot]on[dot]fleek[dot]co/repos/ it seems like that website hasn’t been taken down yet and hopefully it won’t “ever”, since, as I understand, it relies to some extent on the IPFS, though I don’t know how that works exactly
Like have you seen hw prices lately? The prices of these class of card simply crashed through the ground. 1070 are very cheap, the rx470-480 is barely sellable trash. A lot of time had passed since the 10series…
But the 5700 is not an expensive gpu to buy second hand. Cpu asks for an ancient 6core or a 2nd gen ryzen. These aren’t unreasonable specs in 2023. Time has moved on. Sorry.
Mind you I have an ancient 6core and a 1080 class card.
I’m an adult with a job, and I don’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of affording the recommended system requirements for this game any time soon. RX6800XTs do not grow on trees.
It runs like absolute crap. I have a 2070 with i9-12900k and 64gb ram and get 30fps on the LOWEST settings. That’s it.
I run Elden Ring at 120fps and just got done with Armored Core that ran at 144fps rock solid medium settings all the way through without a single blip.
Yeah it runs rock solid. I get the impression FS must have good employee retention and have very good methods for building employee skills, so over time they’ve only improved. On top of hiring and acquiring some of the best staff that must have existed in other Japanese studios. No idea how they actually treat the employees, could be like shit because it’s Japanese work culture, but something about them is producing content that is consistently a cut above everything. They’re getting up there like Rockstar in terms of quality but based in Japan instead of the UK.
If you’ve got windows 10 try updating to 22h2 (no, really; a consequence of Bethesda being acquired by Microsoft, I suspect), and update your GPU drivers.
That got it running on my 980ti, so it should also work with the 1070.
Yeah, I think it’s probably having to do with how Wine/Lutris emulates the Windows version, that makes it think it’s an older version. I’ll try on a real Windows partition…
Did u try adding it as a non-steam game directly on Steam and not using Lutris? I’ve tried both on my EndeavourOS PC and find that for whatever reason, it runs much better via Steam vs Lutris.
I'm definitely not an expert, but I've been using Whatbox for many years without any issues. I'm based in the US and have it set up to autocharge the same card that I use for everything else. I do not use a VPN or anything else to access Whatbox.
I have received plenty of DMCA notices from Whatbox over the years, and they just require you to delete the offending content within 24 hours or your account will be locked until you do.
In fact, I vaguely recall them increasing my storage allowance a few years ago without raising my rate, so that was pretty cool.
I've never actually tested that out. If it's content I want long term, I simply download it to my local storage before deleting from Whatbox.
What I've found works best for me when using public trackers for new content is to set up a max seeding ratio and whatever relevant *arrs. Doing it that way means that I've usually been able to download the content and stop seeding before the swarm is discovered/monitored by those sending the notices.
Private trackers have seeding policies in place that mandate or incentivize keeping torrents alive for extended periods of time. As a result, you see fewer dead torrents and much faster download speeds.
Then I run the installer .exe with Wine. Once that finishes I add it as a non-steam game and select the newest version of Proton. Sometimes I’ll check protondb if the game doesn’t work right away.
To be honest, it’s not a huge deal. The copyright cartel can easily send dmca requests to your isp just for having text guidelines. Not everyone has the bandwidth or energy to deal with stuff like that.
I just wish this wasn’t done at the request of a transphobic racist who just did it to get back at is for getting banned for making transphobic and racist communities in this instance.
One of the most popular instance. This is why federation is necessary and people should create accounts in different servers instead of pulling everyone to one server calling it tge “official” or “main” server
Beehaw’s reasons for defederation were completely unrelated to what’s happening now. They didn’t want the general public to have access to their “safe” community.
there’s more to “the general public” besides 2 instances. beehaw defederated from .world and sijw because the mod tooling to handle a huge influx of people isn’t ready, and it still isn’t ready. (and the rest of their defederations are an off the shelf mastodon blocklist import which all instances should do imo and a few explicitly unmoderated instances. oh and porn i think)
beehaw federates just fine with the instance i’m on, for example.
if they wanted to defederate completely, lemmy does support allowlist federation, and i’m pretty sure their admins know about it.
No overlays running, still crashes. I’m seeing quite a few people reporting this online, both with AMD and Nvidia, and of course Intel cards don’t work at all on this game.
Anyone who wants AC Mirage and Nightingale? Anyone who supports disrupting the duopoly that, driven by corporate greed, has effectively priced the “budget card” out of existence over the last decade? Those 2 are just off the top of my head.
If I was in the market for a GPU, I’d probably buy Intel Battlemage on principle. At least then I can criticize the current state of the GPU industry without being hypocritical.
I unfortunately, do not have an answer for you but curious what issues you have with crypto. I am an old fart who does not sail the seas as much as I used to and do not do any sort of crypto or even considered it.
There is already a lifetime’s worth of debate over crypto, and I don’t really feel a need to add to it in this thread. Any point I could make has already been written thousands of times, in a much better way. Some of my big problems with it include environmental impact, the amount of scamming done with it, the lack of useful applications for it besides the aforementioned paying for illegal things, etc.
Thanks for your response. Other than the environmental impact, I honestly do not know anything about the debate over crypto. I will just have to look into it now since I a curious.
