dylanTheDeveloper, w Why Unity's New Install Fees Are Spurring Massive Backlash Among Game Developers - IGN

Suddenly there’s an 150% increase in Dev jobs using Unreal Engine 5

gk99, w New PlayStation 5 update allows for second controller assist

Glad they’re finally catching up to Xbox from a platform features standpoint. Things like this were why I used to be so pro-Xbox, but that gap is narrowing rapidly.

smeg, w Nintendo Direct announced for tomorrow

Excellent (if slightly terrifying) thumbnail

archon, w Dune: Spice Wars review: a compulsive 4X that both nails and wastes its source material

I bought and played it a bit some months ago. It’s an interesting RTS/4X blend with the “realtime with pause”. For me the game wins in originality, with some novel systems I didn’t see before.

Not super memorable, but a nice change of pace if you want a middle ground between Civ and C&C. Buy on sale (was not so pricy either iirc).

Blizzard, w PlayStation Plus Game Catalog for September: NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139…, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, Sid Meier’s Civilization VI

I wish there was a filter in PS Store to hide all anime.

FarFarAway, w Unity bosses sold stock days before development fees announcement, raising eyebrows

First thought: If this was done on purpose, don’t these people know how many bigwigs get caught. Like, all the time. Even martha stewart got caught. Jeeze.

Why would they think they would special? One would think they would give it up at this point.

Second thoughts: if CEOs, etc, keep this up, it makes me wonder how many people get away with it all the time, for them to take a chance like that.

Third thought: they really think the consequences for insider trading are less problematic to them than facing jail, and paying a fine up to, what, 3 times the amount they made? That makes no sense. Back to the second thought, I guess.

Ajen,

They keep doing it because they know they’ll probably get away with it, and if they get caught they’ll get a slap on the wrist. Martha Stewart went to jail for perjury, not insider trading. If she hadn’t lied she probably would have just paid a fine instead of going to jail.

Crashumbc,

Reality, is this happens SO OFTEN it is like “speeding” is to normal people… all the CEOs do it. After awhile, they do it worse, eventually you have few doing 100+ mph or someone gets killed. Then the government steps in…

hoi_polloi, w After years of 'good enough' PC ports, Armored Core 6 is the first game in FromSoftware's history truly born for mouse and keyboard

Good enough is them putting the kids gloves on this one.

bestturtleboy, w Resident Evil Village and the Resident Evil 4 remake are coming to the iPhone 15 Pro. Apple's iPhone 15 Pro has an A17 Pro chip that enables hardware-based ray tracing for games.

Is it getting 30 or 60hz gameplay?

cypher_greyhat, w PS5 sales jumped 42% in the UK during August | UK Monthly Charts

I’m surprised this IP is still going.

The old games didn’t age too well. The formula of the new games is much better.

Anticorp, w What games had easy soft locks that prevented you from either progressing or getting a true ending?

I guess this is tangentially related. RDR2 had the full ending for Author and then kept going. I didn’t care what happened beyond that so I never finished the epilogue.

PM_ME_FEET_PICS,

That’s not a soft lock and your clearly never played the first game lol.

Mr_Buscemi, (edited )

Aw you missed out on some fun parts of the game. If you were just playing for Arthur’s story then I can understand why you’d stop there though. I’ll spoiler tag the stuff below but it’s why I think the epilogue is worth it if you wanted closure on something dealing with Arthur.

!Micah is a totally bitch. Epilogue dealt with John dealing with him and that shit was great !<

Won’t say more about it than that.

Anticorp,

I heard later that >!Micah finally gets his in the epilogue!< and meant to go back to finish it, but never did. I still may some day!

bomanicious, w What games had easy soft locks that prevented you from either progressing or getting a true ending?

Ys 8 has a soft lock toward the end where if you didn’t do enough side quests to build up enough affinity with your castaway group and party members you would get treated to a bad/neutral ending. Fortunately at that soft lock point there are enough ways to build up those points so you can progress past that point.
