I just finished the first really hard boss (Balteus) and I’m having a ball. Can recommend. But play it on PC with KB+M. I know it’s a fromsoft game, but the KB+M controls are 10X as good as gamepad controls.

I feel like I would have beat Balteus by now if I had the game on PC instead of PS5. Even with the auto lock aiming, this asshole moves around faster than I can turn the camera with a stick, even with the camera speed at 10.

Edit: Wait… Does the PS5 version support M&KB…? 🤔 I’ll have to try later when I have the chance.

radau,

That one’s killing me rn on Steam Link I might need to move to the computer lol. Damn thing flies around so quick then blasts you

@Pxtl@lemmy.ca avatar

I beat him with a hardcore mobility and missiles build, but I’ve heard he’s much more doable if you switch to a superheavy build of all plasma weapons (the “Meefcake” is its name in the meta). One thing I noticed is his movement habits make him pretty vulnerable to missiles, which catch up to him when he holds still.

With mouse and keyboard where you can track him well he’s very fun to fight in close range since he likes to hold still for his missile volleys (you can pour in the damage while dodging), except that his ability to punish you with the bazooka means every screw-up is lethal when you’re in close. And that’s 10X worse when he gets his flaming sword.

Kolanaki,

I feel limited in my options because I’ve gotten everything I possibly can to mix up my mech at this point through the missions and the logcabin stuff, and while I do want to be a plasma goblin, I can’t even use 2 plasma guns without overloading my energy, let alone adding in the shoulder cannons. :/

I only have access to two generators. And one of those is the one I started with.

retrieval4558,

I had a decent time fighting balteus but sea spider is going to make me put my controller through my TV.

Statick,

Fly above him, use missiles, land only when necessary to replenish energy.

Wow. It dropped at a rough time, too. BG3 is still going nuts and Starfield is coming soon. It's the kind of thing I'd love to check out but those two (and probably Madden because it's football season) are just going to eat the absolute hell out of my time.

Multiplayer vs bots was so much fun back then in 1 and 2 it makes me really happy to see that they have an eye on that style of mp and skirmishing instead of only focusing on pvp or competitive. There are really few games that I’m looking forward to these days but HW3 is definitely in that category.

if a scumbag billionaire wants to do it and feels like they can get away with it, they’re going to do it.

if a dozen or so executives at a corporation think they can get away with it, they’ll do it. That’s why there’s microtransactions in $80 games. I still remember hearing about the first $60 games with microtransactions in them and now these fuckers are trying to charge over $100 for an unfinished game where the only things that work in it are from microtransactions.

captain_aggravated,
@captain_aggravated@sh.itjust.works avatar

The wild thing is, people still buy them. “The gameplay is derivative and insipid, it was delivered buggy and unfinished, it’s barely different than the last one they published, and the business model is outright predatory.”

“Yeah, but it’s Star Wars.”

Nacktmull,
@Nacktmull@lemmy.world avatar

I will never understand. I for myself simply ignore games with micro transactions at this point with the only exception of games that have exclusively cosmetic stuff as micro transactions. Fuck pay to win!

I like starwars more than any other franchise.

But I’m not going to buy any of the fallen order games for at least 2 years. the bugs will be worked out and the deluxe versions will be a much lower price by then

As an AC veteran greatly enjoying the new game after many years waiting, I feel vindicated.

And don’t worry about sucking at this game! Even I had to spend 6 hours fighting Balteus to finally defeat it. Stick with the game, try different builds until something works for you.

fckreddit,

Not everyone has the time or patience to fight a boss for 6 hours. I guess I will stick with my boring ass games with easy modes. No offense to you.

Anticorp, (edited ) w Roblox ‘operates illegal gambling ring that preys on children’: lawsuit

What are the micro-transactions for? Are you at a huge disadvantage by not spending money? What is the game even about? I thought it was just a bunch of kids derping around and building things.

PrejudicedKettle,

Roblox is a platform where some users create games and other players play them. It’s grown to be a pretty powerful platform/engine, but is now significantly more complex than it used to.

Roblox has the ability for users to add micro-transactions to their game. Essentially, users get a small portion of the micro-transactions back as real-world currency. It’s up to users/developers who make those games to choose what players get in exchange for these micro-transactions.

As far as I can tell, the quality of games has dramatically increased since I quit. My guess would be that the users/developers making games are now adults, and the players are still kids.

jayandp,

Roblox is a sandbox game sort of like Minecraft, but with way more power given to third-party developers and users to develop and distribute content in it. What you’d consider mods for other games are the whole point of Roblox, and MTX can be implemented by those third-party developers using “Robux” as a currency. The MTX can be your usual MTX fare of skins and power-ups, but also often abused for less ethical purposes, like gambling mechanics. The fact that Robux can be cashed out for real money via official and unofficial methods mean that’s it’s ripe for abuse.

Update: Also, I wasn’t aware of this before the article, but apparently gambling sites have figured out a method to link a Roblox account to their external sites, and then use the user’s Robux wallet as currency in their illegal online casinos.

Wow, that’s fucking wild!

Psythik,

The way I understand it, it’s basically a game engine that kids can use. I don’t think Roblox itself is actually a game; you use it to make games.

Don’t know what the microtransactions are for, however.

PsychedSy,

A galaxy brain way to use children as labor to make shitty games. And the kids even have fun doing it.

Every single roblox game is designed to maximize micro transactions into blantent money extracting games.

kmkz_ninja,

Battlebit?

Shapillon,

What’s battlebit got to do with it?

kmkz_ninja,

Isn’t it a roblox game? Or is it just syled like it?

Shapillon,

It’s a standalone game sold on steam, I don’t think it’s affiliated to roblox in any way shape or form ^^

Yewb,

Does battlebit even have micro transactions?

kmkz_ninja,

Isn’t that my point? (If battlebit counts as a roblox game)

TheFogan,

Not neceserally but I think it has the same issue as say the google play store. IE roblox promotes the games do the best at extracting profit. There’s lots of games that are well thought out that don’t make much money. and they are burried somewhere on page 50+ hidden between a bunch of thrown together test projects etc…
