I’m blown away that they even think this is less controversial or a solution. Brain dead company should cease to exist. I’m totally fine with no new games made with unity.
Reminder that the unity ceo once suggested they (apparently he was at ea at the time) could start charging players money for reloading guns hours into a game once the player gets invested enough.
These guys are cartoonishly evil. But also completely lacking in any actual common sense.
They literally never seem to think more than one step ahead, it’s pathetic. Sure they might gain some money by screwing everybody over short-term, but long-term they’re going to lose millions when everyone abandons their game/platform for something else. Look at Blizzard, classic example, they’ve screwed themselves over by trying to screw the customer over, they would have made more money if they just kept Overwatch one going.
I mean if you don’t understand that they’ve ported or remade their PS exclusives to PC because they also wanted a new untapped player base that didn’t own playstations, I don’t know what to tell you, brah.
I just miss the sport games of 10-20 years ago. They were just fun. Of course they weren't perfect but we didn't care. Now microtransactions have ruined everything....
Give it a try on the high seas. I did and I ended up buying it because it really is that good. I never interacted with a cash shop in my entire time playing
… On the story. Their priority is the story. The cash shop is quite recent and the time it takes to develop isn’t even in the same universe as story content. Story content requires developing new zones, new enemy types, voice acting… They spent tons of time developing multiplayer, that’s a huge undertaking by itself where they are improving constantly. They just reworked some quests and remade the tylesets of some campaign zones. Developing the cash shop can’t have been more than 5% of the time they spent developing last year.
Either you don’t know about development in general, you are blinded by rage with the drama they had with the release of the cash shop (which they reworked) or you are being malicious. I’m guessing 1 or 2.
I’ve seen early access games that go their entire dev cycle without adding real-cash shops. this pervasive idea that microtransactions are just an acceptable thing in any new game has me absolutely incredulated.
it doesn’t matter how long it takes to develop, putting a cash shop in an unfinished game is a bad move optics wise.
Huh? Wasn’t that literally one of the original goals of Stadia. You’d watch someone play a game and you’d be able to launch the same game at the place where you paused the video.
In comparison to BG3, the dialogue and stories are incredibly bland in Starfield.
If you don’t compare it to BG3 though, then the dialogue and stories are still incredibly bland.
I swear every Bethesda game does this. For example, when you get three dialogue options, they all say basically the same thing, and they all set up the player to be dunked on by the NPCs response…
Or the only options are:
“wow! Incredible! I love kittens, good on ya kid!”
At least the stories were pretty good for the most part. Starfield’s story and lore are just so generic and boring, and the dialogue ranges from corny to just flatout awful. Even compared to previous Bethesda games, the story elements in Starfield are a yawn fest that feel like they were written by history majors and not people who love science fiction.
I interviewed with the Pokémon Company recently, and their benefits were the absolute #1 I’ve seen of any enterprise level company. If I get the gig I doubt I’d ever leave. I mean, these are CEO level benefit packages for mid-level (minus the goofball CEO golden parachute).
You can get as good as that as standard in the UK.
I get 36 days PTO, the legal minimum is 28 days. 25% bonus. Pension contribution, I pay 4%, company pays 8%. Health insurance included, but the NHS will cover most stuff.
This isn’t even a senior level position, it’s bottom level. Seniors get way more.

And an EA account. And agreement to a 3rd party EULA with EA. For a single player game. That’s some real “we’re gonna sell you microtransactions later” energy out of a 60 dollar release.
