Something being pitched halfway through development doesn't mean it isn't tightly integrated. I dunno, I just think we have different views on this. The game was demo'd in VR, released in VR at the same time as the non VR version, officially supported, and plays well. Seems made for VR to me.
Game kind of lost me with the learning curve and feeling lost, but I can concur the vr felt amazing. Like just looking to the side to open ship menus is simple and feels futuristic as hell.
Have no idea what you are talking about. The fan VR modding community has been the primary reason why VR hasn't died on PC. Mechwarrior 5 vr, Resident Evil 2/3 VR, 7 days to die vr, Half Life 2, Deep Rock Galactic, and many more titles. VR is an immersion enhancer and I am glad there is such a vibrant community for it. The library of possible VR games are also going to expand rapidly once Praydog finally release the Unreal 4/5 wrapper.
Edit: Can't believe I forgot to mention Mother VR (Alien Isolation)
Holy shit. I stopped playing early because I was frustrated I couldn’t set my weapons groups like MW4, but if I can sit in the goddamn cockpit and use a flight control system in vr sign me the fuck up.
Unfortunately don't think there are motion controls. Works great with Hotas though. I wished we would have motion controls but can't ask too much from modders who are doing this on their free time.
Edit: You also may need to elaborate on what you mean change your weapon groups like MW4, it has been quite a bit since I played that one.
Yeah don’t care about motion controls, those are best left to standing games.
In MW4 you can assign any weapon to any group, so you can have granular groups like one for short range one for long or individual weapons as well, but also an alpha strike shoot fucking everything group. When I started MW5 I could only assign a weapon to one group. I think. It was a while ago but that’s what I vaguely remember.
I don't have MW5 installed anymore but from my memory you can assign a weapon to multiple firing groups. The only thing I think they did remove is it doesn't use a select fire active group button anymore.
Yeah don’t care about motion controls, those are best left to standing games.
Not sure if you have tried it but VTOL Vr may change your mind on that. It will never beat HOTAS but its far more immersive than relying on your keyboard or controller.
I booted up 2.0 Sunday night and had a nice laugh when I called my car to my location. It wedged itself under a car in traffic and threw that car violently into pedestrians on the sidewalk. The jank is still there, it’s just at a tolerable level.
Pre orders aren’t even the biggest issue in gaming now, for me it’s game tiers, where a game releases with 3 different editions, with the most expensive one being like $150. Which means the actual game is $150 and the lower editions are just incomplete copies.
I’ve played the last two games of that series and even for someone who is up for the grind, it just felt lifeless and uninspired. No need to play it anymore.
BG3 is incredible, but I think Cyberpunk ties with that in many scenes (though there’s much fewer sets of dialog). The rigidity of the dialog in Starfield is one of my biggest complaints, and that’s coming from someone who really quite enjoys the game despite the many, MANY, things it could do better.
I don’t usually dig into behind the scenes stuff in games but I’ve been watching a ton of bg3’s stuff. I didn’t realize how integral to the development some of the actors were - specifically Neil Newborn, Astarion’s actor. Larian seems like a cool company to work with…it feels like they really “get” it.
I love BG3 and I have nothing against it’s animations. But what is it that you like? Honestly, I see a lot of people praise the animations, but besides a few scenes, the animations just seem “good”. Not mind blowing, but not bad in any way. So I don’t get that praise, but I’m sure there’s something that other people see in it that I don’t.
That being said the game is great. I haven’t had this much fun since KotOR.
For a CRPG their fucking great, also I wouldnt be surprised if a lot of that praise is coming from folks who play CRPGs on the norm. When your standard frame of reference is fucking Arcanum it tends to be a bit scewed. Also play Arcanum: of steamworks and magick obscura its really fucking good.
No shit a Final Fantasy 14 player was the first to earn all achievements in Final Fantasy 14. Wake me up when an Everybody’s Golf player is the first to earn all achievements in White Knight Chronicles 2.
Thanks! Yeah I figured I would ask in each of the communities in looking for content in vs mass asking in a larger forum. Thanks for the recs, I added several! Krebs, techspot, anandtech seem great!
