As I've gotten older as a player, I have found myself dropping some eras of gaming that I used to be nostalgic for. One of them is the 8-bit era, the NES days. I have played some of the best that system had to offer and I will never say that system didn't have any good games....
I mean, you do you, but for anyone else reading this who is on the fence, I adore the 1997 original (and am in fact replaying it right now), and I loved Rebirth. Solid 9.75/10 game for me, with the only detractions being constant interruptions by Chadley if you're doing a 100% run.
The gripes about the story being changed and stuff just don't hold up to me. The remakes are actually, by and large, very faithful to the original with a ton of fan service. They have some some new stuff with the remakes that I'm personally enjoying, and keeps me on my toes.
If I wanted the exact same story, I'd play the original, which, I am lol.
My partner was watching me play through Rebirth and commented on the number of mini games, and I said "honestly, that's pretty faithful to the original too" lol

My guy, I wasn't even trying to make a defense of micro transactions, I was pointing out the really weird comparison of a PS1 game from 1997 with no baked in online features, and a modern game with baked in online features.
Honestly, considered it even though I haven't pirated a game in like twenty years. But when I found out the the person who cracked the game is also a hateful bigot, I didn't even want to download their work. Nah, I'll buy it second hand.
There are definitely people who think about this. I bet this guy would. For context, this poor man can't get immersed into Starfield because it asks him for his character's pronouns. =(
Not even close. I 100%'d the game and you don't get anywhere close to max everything. Plus, my point was that max everything actually doesn't make a huge difference because you get diminishing returns from each stat. For example a 70 in a stat vs a 99 in a stat is almost nothing.
It was a literal slideshow on past gen consoles and they knew that so they tried to prevent reviewers from warning people. Then happily took full price from consumers for it.

Something being pitched halfway through development doesn't mean it isn't tightly integrated. I dunno, I just think we have different views on this. The game was demo'd in VR, released in VR at the same time as the non VR version, officially supported, and plays well. Seems made for VR to me.

Elite Dangerous is by far the most fun I've ever had landing and taking off in a space ship. No other game comes even close. It genuinely never got old. The entire docking process was so damn fun with a HOTAS.
Likewise, I haven't played any of the expansions. I didn't say it was a perfect game, just that landing and taking off has not been better in any other game. I loved the space stations.
Many people do. Yes, there are those that buy every year but I genuinely think they are the minority. You gotta think, even if only 1/3 of all the 2k NBA fans buy every three years, that's... still a lot of sales.
