Meh. I still prefer my Deck. I hope Valve won’t be too slow to launch the Deck 2 😅.

Who’s the voice actor behind the man in the suit? Sounds super familiar.

I'm not sure, as far as I know none of the VA names have been released yet, but I bet some Capcom regulars will show up.

I knew from the beginning the art vibes where familiar. Then I saw " Spiritfarer", and I knew why 😂.
There is a few game that managed to make me tears, Spirifarer was one of them (along with Gris, Ori, and lately, E33). Yeah, I’m kinda a softy 😂.
That’s an instant buy for me.

Versus an increasingly crowded market of new fighting games.

False,

I don’t know anyone that plays fighting games. Who keeps buying these?

ampersandrew,
@ampersandrew@lemmy.world avatar

The audience has very much expanded since covid. Around that same time is when fighting games (at large) finally got the good netcode, because they finally realized they could no longer get away with the easier, cheaper, bad netcode. You might not know what the word “rollback” means, and probably most players don’t either, but I think everyone intuitively understands that it feels better to play these games online and that they’re getting better matches. This also came along with a few new ways to shed motion inputs, or at least make them optional, in many big releases, and a renewed focus on trying to invent good new single player offerings. Fighting game majors are breaking attendance records every year, and in a world where the e-sports bubble has burst, the fighting game scene is the only one growing organically from grass roots without spending money it doesn’t actually make (Fatal Fury might be the exception here, due to ties to the Saudi family).

“Teaser” is certainly accurate. This was little more than a title card. So much for this coming out this year.

webadict, do games w The Outer Worlds 2 - Official Story Trailer | Xbox Games Showcase 2025

I always get extra disappointed by the Outer Worlds, because I always confuse it with the Outer Wilds and would rather play that game.

scrion,

Ah shit. I swear to god, this just happened to me. I came to the comments, confused why a trailer for Outer Wilds 2 would be age-restricted.

Ugh.

But then again, you cleared up my confusion, so I guess there’s that.

Psythik,

I played them both and was disappointed by both. Didn’t even bother finishing either of them.

Depression is a bitch. :(

Crankenstein,

Weird cause I have the exact opposite reaction. Could not get into Outer Wilds. Flying the ship was so annoying.

scratchee,

On the one hand, the ship was one of the most fun parts for me, but on the other, I do wonder if it was a mistake because it makes the game so much more frustrating for anyone who hasn’t been trained on kerbal space program or some other Newtonian space control game to get the hang of it.

It’s like riding a bike, if you know how to do it you have trouble even imaging why it’s hard, but nobody can do it at first, and it takes ages to get the new instincts to actually enjoy it.

Piemanding,

I vividly remember the first time I played Space Engineers crashing my first vehicle every time.

tiramichu,

The ship was one of the best parts for sure. Once you are competent it feels super liberating how nimbly you can zip around a planet.

The other good parts of that game were progression, and death.

I love that knowledge is the only thing retained between loops - the only currency of value. And I loved the feeling of making new discoveries.

And with death as an expected mechanic, the game doesn’t have to put up any guiderails to save you from it. There are no training wheels. You want to go outside without a spacesuit? Bad idea but we’ll let you. You want to literally lose your ship so you can never get it back? Sure, go for it. You want to fall into a space anomaly and see what happens? Be our guest.

Masterpiece game honestly.

Sorry for the Twitter link, but Atlus shared it will be on Xbox, PS5 and PC. So not exclusivity on this.

setsneedtofeed, do games w Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 - Official Teaser
@setsneedtofeed@lemmy.world avatar

The last Black Ops I cared about was 2. I could almost feel the developers of that one screaming that they wanted to break out of the COD mold. It actually had a lot of cool, if underbaked ideas. There were the sidemissions where you commanded an NPC squad ala Brothers In Arms, there were the pre-mission loadouts where after beating a mission set in the past you could go back and load up with future guns, there were multiple endings driven by choices in the missions.

There was a lot of stuff going on in that game which if it had been given a longer development cycle than the COD treadmill, and more freedom to stray from COD mainstays could have been something interesting. All of the above features could have really been pushed and refined beyond the small implimentation they ended up as. BO2 also tied the setting back to the cold war era roots, which makes it far more interesting that the cutout metal angular girder future design that is just the most generic looking thing ever. Call Of Duty Advanced Warfare was forgotten for a reason and it’s disappointing that Black Ops ended up eating all its aesthetics.

None of this matter of course, since no matter how many story trailers they release or how much people like me talk about what could make single player good, in the end the series is kept alive by tweaked out multiplayer addicts so I suppose it is all just a waste of time to think about.

VerilyFemme,

I’ve been playing through Black Ops II again recently, what with it taking place this year. The story is such a step up from 1. From playing as Menendez to interviewing Woods, it feels like the main actors on both sides are fleshed out. The story is insanely prophetic.

I mean, if you had asked me if BO2 or MW3 was more realistic back in the day, I would have said MW3 hands down. Yet Black Ops II’s plot centers around advancement in tech due to rare earth minerals mainly owned by China, mass scale drone warfare, and a cult of personality grown through YouTube.

Realizing there were multiple endings was major for me as a kid, and I honestly get chills with every time I play it.

This one is a lame attempt to recapture what people loved about the first two games. That’s what 5 and 6 were as well. Plus, the return of Menendez really dampens any excitement I would have had. If they can barely write Woods well, how are they going to write Menendez well?

pycorax,

I think Black Ops 6 did a lot of really cool things for the story with a few open ended levels and a really cool segment in the middle won’t spoil. Story wise I think it is actually one of their better ones, it had the potential to be almost as good as Blops 1 if the ending wasn’t so rushed and failed to tie up the plot lines properly. I have a feeling it’s so that they could reuse the characters in Warzone which is a huge shame.

Playing Justice during the reveal will not make me want the device any more.

I’ve seen similar reactions. Is there a particular reason why they are disliked?

Railcar8095, do games w Persona 4 Revival - Teaser Trailer

Persona 4 with the dungeons of persona 5 sounds like reason good enough to play again, if I ever get 100h to spare

Ashtear,

I wouldn’t expect dungeon overhauls. It will most likely still be procedurally generated like P3R was.

Railcar8095,

Thanks for cooling my hype. I haven’t played 3R, but the random dungeons o 4 were by far the weakest part.

Ashtear,

They improved the handcrafted dungeon stuff in P3R, so I think it’ll probably still be better, but definitely not P5 level.

This seems a long way out though.

caseofthematts,

I know people will tell me I’m wrong, but I dropped P3R because of the dungeons. So if 4R is more of the same, I doubt it’s something I want to play.
