psx_crab,

This sounds like a loading bar for Nintendo’s lawyer, once it reach 100% they send c&d letter

psx_crab,

C&D is part of the SLAPP suits strategy, and isn’t really about legal or not, it’s intimidation until someone give up due to the legal fee of fighting said lawsuit. It happened to Yuzu, while pretty much other nintendo emulator still around.

psx_crab,

If you want to know if this YouTube channel is of any value whatsoever, click on the channel, then click on videos, and take a look at every video thumbnail and title, and you’ll have your answer.

This actually kicks out Veritasium for having no value, and i have a long standing issue with Derek. I like Veritasium, it’s a valuable channel that is entertaining and educational, but Derek is a sellout for a)knowing how bad clickbait is, talk about it in one of his older video, but continue to engage with it, which got even worst recent year; b) sold Veritasium to private equity, which explains why the shitbait is so so bad recently.

psx_crab,

They did use AB testing, and some of their video thumbnail and title did have that sort of combination when the AB test is in effect. The best one imo is still the fresh upload, which then youtube will cycle all the thumbnail and then end up with the one that got the most click. If you pay attention to it when they first upload then a day later then a few days then a week, it will usually cycle from good to really bad then finally end in bad as their forever thumbnail and title.

psx_crab,

Bring Volnutt back from the moon!

I wonder if they do remake of mml1 and 2

psx_crab,

F2P for phone.

psx_crab,

And i bet you don’t even touch the free game you claimed because Epic launcher take forever to launch.

psx_crab,

Epic fail.

psx_crab,

I just got a 1tb ssd last month, and holy crap it’s the same price i got for 125gb 8 years ago.

Also i still remember the 8gb pendrive i got in around 2008, for that price today i can get 256gb storage with the size of my cat’s toe bean.

psx_crab,

his new role-playing game has no main quest

https://lemmy.zip/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Fuploads.dailydot.com%2F2024%2F07%2FEP0xPlFt-Doubt.jpg

What he describe really sounds like BOTW but with TTRPG writing, you have a goal, you have faction quest to do, and all these quest affect your path to the goal, and you can probably just walk straight to that goal if know where it is and you’re speedrunner enough.

Okay he did mention FO1 and 2, which is basically that.

But anyway, fresh IP from good rpg dev, can’t say i’m not excited for it.

psx_crab,

Yes, i got it for free as well few years ago, never played it.

psx_crab,

Does it matter though? You can put it as a failure that got so bad Valve eventually cancel it, or you can put it as a product that got good from countless iteration. Its kinda like glass half empty half full kind of situation which eventually doesn’t really matter.

psx_crab,

It is. “From failed product to global success” will also drum up a positive vibe about this particular hardware. What i meant by it is it doesn’t really matter if the previous iteration is a failure, what people really care and what’s important is the current iteration and what Valve learn from their past mistake, and the marketing team of Valve know exactly that. It’s marketing after all, turning negative vibe to positive one is part of the marketing strategy.

psx_crab,

What’s this? A DLC inside a DLC?

psx_crab,

Reddit be like

User A: i made this

Reddit: fuck off with the self marketing!

User B: my friend(definitely not me) quit their job and made this

Reddit: ohh my god this is brilliant!

Linux gamers on Steam finally cross over the 3% mark (www.gamingonlinux.com) angielski

Free Windows 10 support ended for most people this past month, and the trend line of Linux usage has been quite clear leading up to this, as people prepared for the inevitable. An increase in Linux usage is also correlated to a drop in Chinese players, which did happen this month a little bit, but Linux usage is also trending up...

psx_crab,

The issue with that is, people have no idea what these “choice” even mean. SteamOS is SteamOS, Windows 11 is Windows 11, MacOS is MacOS, but Linux is a big list. If pushing adoption is the key purpose, the manufacturer need to pick one that they believe is reliable and in active development. Just one. All these editions will very likely cause choice paralysis, which lead to people deem it as “too complicated”.

Also Valve will not likely go that path again.

psx_crab,

It speak more about this age of consumerism, regardless how evil one company are, people will still buy their stuff because they don’t care.

psx_crab, (edited )

Tried switching to Mint yesterday, it’s a struggle as the guide kinda failed to mention some detail that i have to google a bit, and the result is it fail to boot(not a bootable drive error). Might try again tonight or this weekend. Honestly i can’t see mass adoption if it’s this PITA to get it working(not plug and play like windows), unless it’s provided by the manufacturer.

Edit: so one of a few struggle i have is the guide failed to mention i need to create an efi partition, i have to google that for the recommended size.

Another is the “primary” and “logical” partition. I have no idea which to chose so i put everything on primary, not sure if this cause the issue.

Then another one is what should i mount my “rest of the partition” with, i googled it and all the answer given is “you should probably read on what is all this about to get a sense what you should do” when i just want some simple answer to what should i do with that, like in Windows, C is for the OS, and you put everything on D or something like that. It’s akin to asking me to read the whole physics chapter when i just wanna know what speed a horse could run.

Then the final nail in the coffin for the session is “not a bootable drive”. Then i just plug in my windows ssd and go on with my day.

psx_crab,

I tried installing it on a new ssd so to separate window and linux stuff(and also upgrade from a bunch of very old hdd), the guide recommend me to select “something else” and create the partition accordingly. I follow their official guide here

…readthedocs.io/…/install.html

At the time i’m installing, i still have my old drive plugged in so in fear of messed thing up badly and had my whole data erased, i chose to manage the partition myself. Should i unplug everything other than the new drive, and have the installer do it automatically?

psx_crab,

What is saying “not bootable drive”? You should make a primary partition on the target drive.

When booting, after the bios screen it give me a black screen with that message, and refuse to boot.

Also, even if you don’t have tpm, you may have some sort of secure boot preventing non-windows drives from booting.

How do i navigate this? My machine is build around 2012-14 so not sure what its in. I had someone build it for me so i’m not sure what’s in it.

psx_crab,

I see, i’ll have to try that tonight

psx_crab,

Did you already install Linux Mint on a drive and your computer is now refusing to boot from it?

This. I already tried setting the bios to boot from that particular drive and it gave me this message. Might have to try let the installer decide the partition like another comment suggested to rule it out, and try turning off secure boot if that fail.

psx_crab,

Yeah, my plan is to isolate both OS so it doesn’t interact at all. Was thinking about wiping out the old drive after backing up after installing mint, doesn’t seems to work out lol.

psx_crab,

Yeah, i should totally done that.

psx_crab,

Do you have anything else to add? Because being unhelpful doesn’t solve my issue, but to inflate your ego. Others tried, and i acknowledged my problem and will try other way to see if it helped. And you’re here to bitch about my unsuccessful attempt.

psx_crab,

Still on Silksong, second run. So far still finding new stuff and alternative path. Dancers is still the best boss design so far.

psx_crab,

That one is kind of a remaster though, this one is a proper remake. Not sure if it’s necessarily.

psx_crab,

Back in the warcraft 3 days, i would always play either tower defence or hero defence, or hide and seek, anything but the RTS the game supposed to be.

psx_crab,

I heard Mint is closest to the window experience, not sure about steam ready though, i didn’t know that is a thing i need to watch out for. i think i might try that first

psx_crab,

Very likely once…in a while, like that stupid fullscreen win11 ads on win10.

psx_crab,

Your comment really just shout “i’m living under a rock!”

psx_crab,

Nobody care about your credentials though, your “people still use microsoft product” comment is the one that sounds like you’re living under a rock.

psx_crab,

Probably yes, because AI might change thing too much while right now they can just tweak minor stuff and resell it.

psx_crab,

Wow, i can totally see why people might have issue with the graphic. Hopefully there’s an option to ease the contrast.

psx_crab,

I mean i wouldn’t mind having dating sim with Wolverine, but going frenzy at the front line is his specialty.

Maybe Dispatch might fit your criteria?

psx_crab,

Can’t believe Valve didn’t make real game. CS, TF2, DOTA2, all fake.

psx_crab,

The issue with valve is not they couldn’t do it, it’s because how they develop game. If no one pick up the project then the project just die. That’s how hl2ep3 die. If they run like how every other company is, we would already finished the series.

The flip side of that is we get stuff like Steam Deck, Index, Alyx, and Proton.

psx_crab,

Err…isn’t ff7remake episodic as well? Wdym bringing it back

psx_crab,

Because once you finished the story there’s really not much sidemission for you to play, and the world suddenly feel very empty without the excellent characters. I quit the same way.

psx_crab,

Yes. It’s in the top selling list in Steam and have 300k concurrent player top. People give him power to say that.
