What are your favorite 1000+ hour games? angielski

One thing I have struggled with lately is finding good games to play. I bounce around from game to game trying to enjoy it but it just doesn’t scratch the itch like it used to. For example, one of my favorites was old school RuneScape, but it hasn’t really been giving me the same enjoyment that it used to. So then I would...

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

XII is so much fun to explore. I didn’t even beat it on the original PS2 version because I kept getting distracted.

Although my personal favorite to replay is VIII because there are multiple different ways to build your magic up (to actually get stronger).

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

What I always hear is that companies will send C&D letters to small ventures, because it creates precedence. Without that, a company loses the right to sue.

I wonder how true that actually is.

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

Not a fan of autopilot or subtracting flags (that one really screws with my head). But I like the game!

@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

It’s weird that games nailed fun racing games back in the PS2/Xbox era. Between Burnout, Midnight Club, Need for Speed, all of them peaked. Then couldn’t repeat formula. Then on the PS3 they had Motorstorm. But really there hasn’t been a lot of fun racing games since.

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

I used to play the crap out of this game. I got a ridiculous amount of stuff without paying a dime too. I had to stop playing because it took too much of my time.

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

I have that one on the PS2. I don’t know that there is a better Sonic collection.

Marvel's Midnight Suns is criminally underrated angielski

I’ve been playing it for a good couple months and I’m still nowhere near tired of it, I’ll actually replay the whole game once I beat it because it’s so much fun. Love the story and voice acting too. This game goes on sale a lot so I’d highly suggest getting jt for cheap and trying it out

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

I thought it was fine. I don’t know about underrated though. I don’t think it’s nearly as good as Xcom.

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

I’m kind of in a different boat with this. I’m paying for quality, not quantity. Especially since I don’t have as much free time as I did 20 years ago.

So if I can play through a phenomenal story within a couple months over a 20 hour game (which usually takes me 30 hours) at the height of the hype when people are still talking about it, I love it. Give me efficient storytelling.

In fact, if it’s something longer, it kind makes me rethink it whether I want to pay full price. Why rush?

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

I really like some of the Halo games for this, especially any levels that don’t involve The Flood. The inventive hit-boxes, slow movements, the vehicles that are fun to just drive around, and the addition of gameplay modifiers, they’re pretty cathartic for me.

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

I love playing reach in God mode with infinite abilities just mowing down enemies. Just remember to turn on Grunt Birthday Party.

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

Their comment sounds like something you spam on a bunch of posts to get someone to click the scam link.

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

I just want a sequel to Halo 5 that concludes the Promethean trilogy. The game ended at a great spot for a final chapter, not a fucking epilogue.

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah, Halo Infinite just skips everything that Halo 5 set up. Everything Promethean is over. There are no more Spartan companions (whether any are still alive or not is kind of up in the air). Humans are on the brink of extinction. The whole game is just telling you that’s the new reality. Not really a lot of plot, just world building.

Omegamanthethird, (edited )
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

I liked the FF8 remaster. The field models are just field models. It’s not like they look like the FMV cutscene character models on the original either. They’re just so distorted that you have to imagine the FMV characters.

Editing out Siren’s bush was a sin though.

Edit: Oh, and getting rid of vibration. I had forgot about that until just now. That was 100% the worst part of the remaster. I hope they’re fixing that, because otherwise what’s the point in the demaster?

Edit 2: Also losing omnidirectional movement since it’s based on the PC port. Same reason there’s no vibration.

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

Halo 5 had a lot of problems. Bit it’s a damned masterpiece compared to Infinite.

Halo 5 had great gunplay, Warzone Firefight was a blast, the Guardians were a great stand-in for the Halo rings, Cortana was an intimidating enemy by the end of the game, the lootboxes were actually better than the armor cores and marketplace from Infinite.

There are A LOT of negatives in there too. But a lot of positives. Infinite is just a shitshow from the beginning.

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

I have a lot of problems with it. Between the “story” and the copy-paste map. I would rather the game didn’t exist, because at least then they could make a follow up to 5’s end.

I really don’t want to spoil your fun if you’re enjoying it though. A lot of the gameplay elements are fun to play around with.

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

This is my biggest complaint. Halo 6 was set up to be an amazing game. Then Infinite ended up with zero story. The most interesting stuff in Infinite were the little flashback sequences that bridge 5 to Infinite.

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

I’ve said before, Infinite feels like the DLC to a Halo 6 game that was never released.

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

It did not release with co-op. I think they had to figure out how to make it work with the open world map and zip lining. When I had finished it, it still didn’t have it. When they added it, they also announced that they had stopped trying to make local co-op work.

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

As far as I know, they gave up on assassinations too. To be honest, by the time I finished the game, the missing features were at the bottom of the list of problems I had with it.

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

I STRONGLY disagree. 5 was a letdown with some bright spots. Infinite is offensively bad with no redeeming value.

Even if you remove Infinite, 5’s combat is better than 4’s in every single way. I would split second worst between those two depending on what aspects you’re comparing.

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

I don’t think that’s true with how much support they give to their first party titles. I mean, their console exclusives are top-tier.

Good call! I can’t believe I forgot that one!

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

I included Fall Guys because I liked it. I included Fortnite because it’s one of the most popular games ever made. It would be weird not to include it.

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

Another good one. I’ll include it.

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

The Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster collection is 6 of the 9 games.

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

For $30, I’m definitely picking this one up.

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

I loved it. The story is engaging and EXTREMELY well told.

The combat starts barebones and gets more engaging as you unlock more abilities. It stays simplistic enough that you can mix and match to your style, but there are enough different loadouts for you to try different play styles. With ability cool downs, it kind of feels like the ATB system merged into an action game at times.

Side content isn’t great and it’s pretty easy. Although it’s worth it for the narrative additions to the story.

DLC wasn’t great. The first one was a missed opportunity for some arena type fights and new dynamic elements. It ends up being uneventful.

The second DLC is better, but they end up making parts of it WAY to hard.

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

As someone who buys expensive games, games I’m excited for, or just franchises I’m invested in, the death of discs is going to really make me reevaluate my gaming. I’ll probably at least wait for a sale for every single game if I can’t have a physical copy.

Almost all of my digital purchases are cheap games.

RuneScape is increasing their membership price by 50%, and Reddit is trying to censor it angielski

Runescape is jacking up their subscription prices next month, going from like 12 bucks to 14 bucks a month. The increases range from 20% to 56% in price depending on currency. Players are PISSED about it especially since the company got bought out by some investment firm earlier this year, and they see it as a shameless cash...

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

20 years ago it was $5 and maybe like 10% of skills were locked behind it. I noticed very little impact from it. But I’m pretty sure end game stuff was locked. IIRC, dragon armor was locked and may have been the best armor.

I’d be surprised if that general model changed significantly.

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

I loved the first 2 games. inFamous 2 is probably a top 5, definitely top 10 game for me. Festival of Blood is one of my favorite DLCs as well.

I didn’t finish Second Son.

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

They made a couple modernized games. But they don’t have the feel of the original (better than Bubsy 3D though).

Omegamanthethird, (edited )
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

I want a game in the Black Marsh. And I want it to be weird like Morrowind where I can kill anybody and become a god (from absolutely nothing).

Like, in Morrowind you’re literally not important. Even the Nerevarine hopefuls die and they just find another. Oblivion you’re given instructions (by the Emperor, IIRC). Skyrim you’re the Dragonborn pretty much immediately.

@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

Arc the Lad in the art of the originals set after III. To be clear, Twilight of the Spirits would still be canon, but it’s also 1,000 years in the future.

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

Honestly, Bubsy and Insomniac is a pretty stellar combo. Maybe Sucker Punch.

Not related, I would love to open a bar called Bubsy’s with the tag line “What Could Possibly Go Wrong?”

@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

At times it reminds me of Cloudberry Kingdom where it looks difficult but really it’s just a puzzle to solve.

Can anyone suggest some good co-op games for two people? angielski

Hello all! My buddy and I finally finished up Baldur’s Gate 3 this week and we are not left with a giant co-op game shaped whole in our hearts. It was such an incredible experience and it was truly even more fun running through it together. We are excited to hop into another game, but we have no idea what to play. We’ve...

Omegamanthethird, (edited )
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

Most of these have been mentioned before, but I’ll mention them again.

Halo Master Chief Collection. Everything before 5 is local split screen. 5 requires two Xboxs. I would just avoid Infinite, but I believe it also requires two systems, maybe including PC.

Diablo 3 is very accessible. 4 should be as well. I’m told Diablo 2 is the best, so I need to try to get back into it. All should be good options.

Monster Hunter requires more patience. At least for World, cooperation is good but really the game is geared towards individuals being able to take charge as necessary. Track, set traps, bait, capture, etc. Multiplayer is VERY useful during fights though.

Stranger of Paradise is kinda Souls-like but more forgiving. In my experience it’s A LOT more friendly to Multiplayer. It’s also a ton of fun with a friend.

Psi-Ops: Mindgate Conspiracy. An old PS2 game. One person controls the body, the other controls the mind. Especially if you have a Gameshark and you can go Godmode.

Any of the old Street sports games were a blast back in the day.

Older Twisted Metal for another old-school recommendation.

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

FWIW, this is pretty close to how I feel about it. Compared to XV, this game is a masterpiece.

I’d add that the ability recharges make the later combat feel a little bit more ATB-like (to me at least), when you’re relying more on those abilities than standard attacks.

Also, I personally think it’s the most (or second most) well-told game of the franchise. They do a phenomenal job of setting up different situations with maximum impact. The sad and hopeless feels sad and hopeless, the enraging feels enraging, and the grandiose feels ABSOLUTELY GRANDIOSE.

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

16 is also close to the 50th game that they’ve released, according to Google.

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

Yep, I’ll use big powerful abilities on small mobs just to clear the area since it will eventually recharge. Especially once I have a couple big heavy-hitting abilities in my tool belt.

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

The Walking Dead Tell Tale game also gave you 100% by beating it.

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

Spider-Man 1 and 2. It’s just more excuse to swing around.

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

Travels back in time

“Is this the first world war?”

WW1 soldier “what do you mean first?”

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

The PS1 games on Android are also 50% off. Although on my device, I can’t buy them directly because it’s “not compatible”. But I can buy it on an older device, and it will be available for download.

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

I don’t like that they stripped out all of the extra content that the other releases added.

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

Original price of $10 each feels about right. They put work into the graphics, music, and bug fixes. But stripped out all the additional content of later releases.

$18 for one of these games is ludicrous. I would have preferred to just pay for the older version that they removed from the app stores.

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

My local stores are less reliable when it comes to used games working. GameStop has always been reliable in my experience.
