This might be interesting… if Obsidian had done something like this. However seeing as how this is 76, a game that to this day runs like dog shit and is still the Bethesda game with the most bugs; I don’t think I’ll be enjoying this experience.
I’m glad we’re getting more advanced magical vocations. The magick spearhand looks great and honestly gives a lot of jedi vibes. With the separation of archer and thief, we’ll have even more classes.
Big time. Their chassis design will dictate performance too. They will get the best chip they can in a cost budget and then thermal/battery limits will dictate where that chip actually lies.
The steam deck is cool and a great device but the Switch 2 will be sleeker and nintendo won’t settle for a 90min battery a whiney fan, and that has trade offs.
Switch 1 had a 720p screen with a 1080p max TV output. That’s approx a 2x increase in throughput.
With Switch 2 it’s expected to be a 1080p screen and a 4k output, that’s a 4x increase in pixel throughput. So a 2x output increase might not be adequate.
However, it is widely expected to have DLSS, which would greatly reduce that requirement.
Cost is going to be a big factor. Nintendo doesn’t want the best possible console. The want a good console, that they can get into as many hands as possible. Even a simple active dock is going to add £10 to the price.
This seems like a nothing burger. All it talked about was lack of a top down minimap, but it still has a map and has other things to help navigate instead.
It makes a lot of sense to at least ask the question if you should split this game into two parts when each part has a very different pool of customers. I don’t think they’ll do it, because they want people in the online component to be present for multiplayer in the first place, but it makes sense to ask the question.
If this game is going to have issues running at 60 FPS on the PS5, I don’t think 30 FPS is for the benefit of the Switch 2. Even if it was, Switch 2 is a platform that people will want to play GTA on. The tech that Rockstar is trying to push forward comes at the cost of frame rate. That’s not making it shittier; it’s making different trade-offs.
GTA IV had a superficial story? I certainly did not feel that way about that game. Niko is the best protagonist they’ve ever had; a great protagonist in general.
Glad to see this is still going, I played it a ton at launch and had a lot of (buggy) fun. This is a neat update, I’m imagining groups of constantly ghouls roaming around nuked areas gathering all the resources.
