Pea666, do games w New Star Wars Jedi Game Is in the Works, Cal Kestis Voice Actor Reveals

Good for him and good for the fans.

I’m pretty sad that these games aren’t my cup of tea. By all accounts they should be right up my alley but for some reason I just couldn’t get into them. I was hoping for a spiritual successor to the Jedi Knight games I guess.

Still, decent quality single player games are a welcome addition to the market.

Elaborating further on how players will get to explore such a vast world, Hamaguchi said that while the whole of the map will be available right from the start, the size of the world will actually grow as players make progress and learn new abilities that let them access previously unreachable areas.

So, how is that different from the original?

Didn’t they work on a new engine when they made fallout 76? I’m sure that wasn’t at all a disaster.

n3m37h,

id Software provided development assistance on Fallout 76, in the form of additional programmers. Specifically, they assisted with netcode from Quake Champions to support the multiplayer functionality needed to realize the game.

The creation engine is the disaster

NumbersCanBeFun,
@NumbersCanBeFun@kbin.social avatar

That’s fair. Thanks for pointing it out.

JasSmith,

Can you imagine trying to shove netcode into Gamebryo? Id developers on their first day.

Edgelord_Of_Tomorrow,

Gamebryo was an MMO engine before it was a single player engine interestingly enough

eltimablo,

It's also used for the FIFA games, if I'm not mistaken.

n3m37h,

And on the last day of ID working at Bethesda the “this is fine” meme was made

TeddyPolice,

Snatching netcode from Quake Champions is a disaster. You know, that competitive multiplayer game with client authoritative hit detection. It’s broken in design.

n3m37h,

So a perfect match for the creation engine!

CE is actually way better than people give it credit for. This “Bethesda engine bad” sentiment is primarily users throwing a crap ton of broken mods without any rhyme or reason into the game and then acting all surprised pikachu when that causes problems.

Im surprised anyone is bothering to keep track of the game. It had a peak player count of 751. Not 751k, just 751.

PenguinTD,

Well, it’s surprisingly an 8/10 game graphics aside. There is no mtx, they still fix their game despite low player count on steam. (no idea how many players on the EA play/Gamepass or console. But on PC if you meet the requirement you can run the game really smoothly. (I run 6800XT so at default 1440p/60fps no issue at all. )

I originally bought it for science and see how UE5 features run on my machine from a released game, and it does surpass my expectation. Also see what’s currently possible with those UE5 tech.

It does have kinda bad luck release timing wise, but it fits a good “alt” game you can play without any commitment. (no season pass, no battle pass, no grinding requirements/mission, semi open world but the main plot can be done without doing those exploration/puzzles. ) So I’d assume the sale can last longer people can play this game with more modern PC build.

Blamemeta,

All thats well and good, but marketing simply failed. Literally the first I and many others heard of it was the 751 peak player count. Maybe itll get more popular as time goes on, but thats a hell of climb.

PenguinTD,

Lol, I bought on EGS cause I know developer will get more money out of that purchase.(12% and they don’t have to pay UE royalty for sales on EGS. I do this pretty much for all unreal engine games.)

But I think the honest hw spec probably scare off a lot of potential PC buyers of this type of game. If somehow they have a demo as show case + spec check then people might be more willing to try or even buy.

Just great mechanics and atmosphere. Only complaint I had were there were a touch too short.

Tevren, do games w Nintendo Switch 2 to Feature as Much as 512 GB of Internal Storage, 8-Inch LCD Screen - Rumor

I really wonder if a Switch 2 will do as well as the first Switch.

More and more handheld gaming PCs are released by the time the Switch 2 comes around. Yes, a Switch 2 does have the advantage of access to Nintendo games (if we ignore Emulators) and I would imagine lower price, but I haven’t touched my Switch since I got the Steamdeck. I even sold an extra Switch Lite I had.

I rarely, basically never used the Switch plugged into a TV. I only played it in handheld mode with a skin that made it more comfortable to hold than a flat brick. Nintendo games rarely drop in price and sales don’t reduce prices by much VS PC games that often go on sale and older games drop to very low prices on sale.

I’m certain there’s a market for a Switch 2, I’m just wondering if it will do as well as the first Switch in the current market with more options.

JokeDeity, do games w Nintendo Switch 2 to Feature as Much as 512 GB of Internal Storage, 8-Inch LCD Screen - Rumor

I have the lowest of low expectations for Nintendo consoles. They’re always filled to the brim with gimmicks, that while creative, are not fun to use and then the best games are always ones that completely disregard the gimmicks anyhow. I wish they would focus more on making consoles that LOOK and FEEL good when you’re playing instead of trying to create the next new thing no one will care about in 5 years. They also really lost the plot on the Pokemon franchise and I feel like that will start to lose them a lot of money when people start to wake up from their comas and realize Gamefreak doesn’t know how to make video games and the last good one they made was am eternity ago.

They fumbled the marketing for frontier so bad. There were always comments asking what the game is even about. They explained it so badly people assumed it’s vaporware. Barely anyone was streaming/viewing it on launch.

Eve is Menus: The Game.

It’s a very lazy product created by a team without the skill to make something like Star Citizen. If they ever tried, they would be over a decade behind along with everyone else in the industry.

SC is the highest crowdfunded game of all time (by a lot), people have donated over 170 million! Even after 14 years of development they still aren’t done.

I look forward to you people never admitting you’re wrong even when you’re playing the game and having a good time.

We’ll get 60 and above on pc a while later anyway. Also the sold separately thing is probably just like they did with RDR2 where you could get everything or just the multiplayer part of the game, which I personally think is fine.
