If it’s related to anticheat, I wonder how they do it on consoles.

Probably, it’s not needed because consoles are more locked down I guess…

I irrationally hate the term “web3” (or maybe it’s rational). It feels like someone tried to force a paradigm rather than the natural evolution.

Disagreements over the direction of the Interactive division, chaotic departures, communication breakdowns, and a perceived lack of leadership transparency at Annapurna Interactive led to a staff walk-out that has left 25 individuals jobless, Annapurna leaders scrambling, and numerous developers concerned about their contracts with the publisher.

It has to hit a serious breaking point for an entire department to do this.

I’ve been in jobs where the whole dept disconnects and just keeps accepting a paycheck while waiting out the storm. So it must have been really really bad.

You’re thinking about it wrong. How much content it has is not the problem. The problem is we’ve seen gameplay and it looks nothing like its predecessor.

Sure, the first one was nice, but I never felt like I was so impressed by it, that i’d do it again.

This highlights the importance of anonymity and things like federated spaces on the modern web.

The tendency for people to want to take credit for their work is also at issue here, but the old Internet has a stronger, “I am my username”, emphasis on anonymity and relatively little credit taking for creativity.

I think the focus on personalities, and on single platforms gives companies leverage over as a users and creators of the Internet.I think if we were less concerned about ownership and taking credit, and more concerned about distribution and access, we can make it basically impossible for companies to gain leverage over ideas.

I think also the modern, reactionary view of copyright law is deeply problematic and counter productive. I don’t think the online left quite realizes they can’t can’t have it both ways. Like I get the instinct towards protectionism of small creators, but I think that modern concepts of copyright are fundamentally flawed at both a fundamental legal.level, but also at a conceptual level for what they are ‘pre-supposed’ to protect.

wizardbeard,

While I’m not particularly against what you’re saying, I think you overlook other issues with the older internet’s culture of not wanting/taking credit.

One only has to look at things like the “cheezeburger” corporation that made millions off of marketing lolcat memes that they had no hand in creating or even much hand in proliferating to see that people not taking credit isn’t a golden solution to prevent misuse and abuse by companies out to make a quick buck.

CopernicusQwark, do games w Hades 2 Technical Test to Wind Down Today, Steam Early Access Release Date ‘Relatively Soon’ After

That was very quick! I expected the technical test to go on much longer than that!

Now it’ll be the dilemma of “do I buy it in early access knowing that it’ll be only a fraction of the content, or do I wait for 1.0?”

bungle_in_the_jungle,

You could buy it early access to give them the support (and get it cheaper) but wait for 1.0 to play it? Supposing you have the willpower I wouldn’t that is 😅

simple,

I’m definitely going to wait. I looked at the gameplay and while it does look exciting I think I’ll get turned off when it abruptly ends and have to wait another few months.

rbits,

I’m definitely waiting. If I have a craving for some Hades, I still have the first game

WhyAUsername_1,

Do they offer steep discount to early buyers? I mean if I get the game at like 20% discount or something in early buy, then i would consider getting it.

skozzii, do games w Sony Reportedly Pauses PlayStation VR2 Production to Clear Backlog of Unsold Units

Sony building walls around its ecosystem is going to be its downfall. If they dropped exclusives and went full on PC it could save them, but anything short of that is going to be bad for them.

Last gen about half of my friends didn’t get the new playstation after owning the PS4.

Typically we have all had consoles and PC’s, but they have finally decided to drop the sony ecosystem. Some of them even bought series-s box with gamepass for their kids… I mean even Microsoft allows crossplay as much as possible, which Sony is reluctant to do.

The other half of my friends with playstation 5’s have said that they are not going forward with the PS6.

Sony is on a death spiral as far as the playstation brand goes. As players switch away, it’s going to speed up the decline as the people left will leave the platform to play with others.

Open up PSVR, make a commitment to crossplay, and stop the exclusives and PlayStation can thrive again and grow, not decline.

Itsamelemmy,

I agree that the headset needs to work on pc. That’s what has kept me from buying one and sticking with the rift s currently. But the ps5 game wise is so much better than the Xbox. There’s no reason to buy an Xbox if you have a pc. Sony has quite a few excellent exclusives. They’re starting to come to pc as well which is nice, but they’re still on console first and not everything makes the jump to pc.
